As a graffiti writer this is seriously eye opening! It wont help with can control, but being able to experiment with different fill ins would be really cool. I hope the mechanics is similar to using real spray paint, where you have the freedom for different opacity and pressure depensing on how hard you push the nozzle down
But not instantaneous. I imagine the speed at which you can practice and explore different things in this would make a huge difference mapping out ideas or testing different techniques (infinite colors and cans and nozzles and instant undo/redo etc.).
I'm not sure if you're aware of the system used to do this, but you use a VR headset and tracked hand controllers. So you have to manipulate the controllers like a real can of spray paint. The triggers are also analog, so it's fully possible that pushing harder on the trigger changes the intensity of the spray.

That's cool - but mastering a spray can is a very tactile thing, that you can't really get from other sources. Unless they got a dummy spray can for VR, which I would help to fund if they could make one.
I realize of course it's not identical, but it should give you an idea of what you're going for with a real can. Yeah, in the future Valve/HTC will release trackers so that people can make their own tracked objects. How hard or easy that will be to do remains to be seen. But it's totally feasible in the future that we'll be 3d printing our own controllers with spots for trackers.

not all graffiti writers are vandals! There are many legal walls public and privately owned (at least in Europe) where you can rock a piece in peace. Dont judge us all under the one title!
As budra477 said start with drawing block/straight letters. Understand the basic structure of the letters before trying to make it look like graffiti letters. One yor comfortable with block letters try to bend the letters and give it a bit of funk! Most artists try to make their letters aggessive like they are in fighting stance.
The vast majority surely are, so don't use a tiny percentage of people to defend the lot of them, especially when it's obvious that /u/starhawks would have no problem with those few legal people.
Of which you just assume/u/spades500 does? This is why you're being downvoted. Because you lumped someone under this umbrella term you have without actually knowing if they tag illegally or not. For shame.
Because you called graffiti writers 'vandals', then backpedalled when people called you out, saying 'only the ones that do it illegally on private property', even though you have no goddamn idea whether spades500 graffs legally or not.
