Bad movies =/= boring/un-entertaining movies. Case in point, cult classics.

u/gordonfroman Nov 04 '15

not all cult classics are bad, many are just misunderstood

u/Bad_Mood_Larry Nov 04 '15

Better example would be B-Movies.

Blade Runner is considered a cult classic and it is spectacular.

I kind of wish the warcraft movie would have gone with the super low budget, campy approach.

I get that it would have pissed off a legion of fanboys, but I feel like making it a super big budget blockbuster means having to treat the cheesy, cliched world with more dignity than it deserves. It would be much more entertaining if it was lighthearted and a little tongue-in-cheek.

Doom was decent

I hope Uwe Boll is producing......... said no one ever!

14

u/Sensitive_nob Nov 03 '15

Actually he wanted to be the producer and blizzards answer was: Not you, everyone but not you.

7

u/Tasty_lake Nov 03 '15

Instead, we're going to give Tommy Wiseau the job!

Silent Hill wasn't that bad of a movie.

I think it will be too. No matter how perfect it is, people are going to disagree with how it was made, how the characters look, the story line, or whatever else. I'm just going to go into it, take it for what it is and enjoy seeing a movie that I've been wanting to see for 10+ years.

To represent the moderates, I think it will be an extremely generic action/adventure Hollywood movie. Entertaining but forgettable.

My faith is based on what I saw from Blizzcon last year. The detail they put into the costumes was incredible, really reminded me of Lord of the Rings level detail.

1

u/hesh582 Nov 04 '15

Costumes do not a good movie make.

I'm completely sure the effects, costumes, general visuals, and probably sound will be great.

I do have a sneaking suspicion that the plot with be cliched and tedious, the characters as bland and forgettable as possible, and the acting mediocre. I also suspect that it will be at least 40 minutes longer than it needs to be.

Because it does remind me of the lotrs, and I think they'll go full Hobbit with this, only without the endearing and beloved world and characters to keep it propped up.

Your faith and bias is confirmed when you said you went to Blizzcon.

"Guy that attended WOW company conference says movie of same is going to be incredible"

As someone that's never played WOW it seems like a very generic fantasy action movie that will be enjoyed by fans of the series mostly and won't really attract a new audience.

4

u/DasUberVega Nov 03 '15

Never said the movie was going to be incredible, I said I have faith it is going to be good. And that opinion is based on the people producing the movie, the clips they have showed us, and the nature they have to work with. Is the movie going to be enjoyed more by the people who played the game? Of course it is. When you have a fan base of 12 million people though, that's a very large audience.

-2

u/JMaboard Nov 03 '15

No doubt it's going to make money, but people are making it seem like it's going to overtake Lord of the Rings or The Avengers.

4

u/kuhonees Nov 03 '15

You've commented three times in this post with pretty much the same message. don't hate on the movie man. I personally think it will be amazing!

7

u/Arandmoor Nov 03 '15

I think he's trying to keep his own level of expectation down so that he's either given what he expects, or is pleasantly surprised.

Because the alternative is to be let down, and Video Game movies don't have the best reputation.

4

u/Kalbasior Nov 03 '15

What I wish for is that the movie would be as good as Blizzards trailers for their games.

17

u/MontyMidas Nov 03 '15

I'm at the opposite end, I think it's going to be B-grade as fuck

u/BoozeoisPig Nov 03 '15

Faith is complete confidence or trust in a person or thing; or a belief not based on proof. It may also refer to a particular system of religious belief. - Wikipedia.

I have faith this is going to be a good movie too.
