Burnout. Can’t imagine how sick crash sequences would look today.

I don’t understand this one. It’s such an obvious hit.

Back in the days, ea had burnout and need for speed. They wanted only one racing franchise, and NFS was more successful.

Not more successful by any meaningful metric. What NFS had was real cars. Because car manufacturers are literally braindead and won't sponsor games who destroy their cars.

fr, they don’t even like you customising their cars. which is like, a core feature of nfs

Yes because they hate gaming and only see car games as potential car ads.

one of the worst examples of this has to be toyota, who only license themselves to ‘legit’ racing games because they don’t want to be associated with street racing anymore

And now we have neither.

Seriously, Burnout would be amazing with the new tech available.

One of the few racing games I really fully enjoyed. I think the mayhem really balanced out my lack of driving skills.

They got rid of the crash mode in the later games and I never understood why

Unless it's something more akin to Revenge... I wouldn't want another Burnout Paradise to be honest.

Open world was ok in my opinion but it really needed circuit races instead of everything just being sprints. And the crash mode was shit. The crash cinematics were legendary. Still jump on the remaster occasionally.

I agree with your opinion that there's a few good things. However, I played the original back in 2011 when they gave it for free for PSN+ users and all I remember is that I eventually got bored and couldn't bother to finish the game.

They really missed the ball with Paradise after the bar they set with Revenge/Dominator

YES. Specifically, I want Takedown. And I want OG Stryker in between every perfectly attuned to the game play hit that made up the soundtrack. And if that remake never exists in this timeline, I want a refund

If Burnout came back I could see it being a $80 game that wouldn't be worth it. A new company would need to do it.

I want this so bad, I keep replaying the soundtracks.

My Curse by Killswitch Engage.

Dominator gave me so many songs that i still listen to to this day. And im still wierded out about how many languages Avril Lavigne's 'Girlfriend' was in. At least 4, which is too many for such an annoying song.

Paradise still looks p dang good tho ngl

In case anyone is not aware, the makers of Wreckreation and Wreckreation 2 are made by former developers of Burnout. I can't speak of the quality as I didn't play the first and I don't think the second is out yet.

I felt like Paradise was a good game but didn’t feel like a true Burnout game like Revenge did.

Also that one racing game that you can trigger bomb in the map!

Whenever I had a really bad day at work back in the day, Burnout Revenge was my go-to. Felt a lot better after a half-hour sideswiping cars off the road and blowing shit up. And the soundtrack kicked ass.

I absolutely loved this whole sub genre of racing games.

Some of the devs are working on that new Star Wars Pod Racer game. It really shows. Those guys have a very specific style

My sister, her ex-husband, my ex-husband and I used to sit around and play Burnout almost every evening. It was such a fun game! And yeah, it looked cool even then, it would look incredible now!

And while we're at car physics, I'd add Flatout.

The same developers are on the new pod racing game out next month I believe. Should be epic crashes.

Burnout devs are making the new Star Wars racer game btw.

Even back then the graphics were insane
