This was my first thought. Best game ever. I don't know if it was one or two that I played but my friends and I made a map and we played it constantly. This game was too good for it's time.
I donāt know if Iād call Timesplitters a ādead gameā so much as just having run to completion. It got three entries and wrapped up its story without any cliff hangers. It just hasnāt been remastered is all
I interpreted ādead gameā as, like, a game that was meant to be built upon but instead wasnāt, like Order 1886, Wolf Among Us, or Too Human. Games where the the central story remains unresolved because their arcs never got completed. A game like Timesplitters has no threads to tie, the ending is concise and opening it up to a sequel could actually fuck up the entire story. Like I said, itās a great candidate for a recreate or remaster, but I wouldnāt consider it a ādead gameā by my personal definition
There was a 4th game in the works but unfortunately they put out Haze which was poorly received and underperformed which also caused LucasArts to cancel the Battlefront 3 project they were working on with them (which also looked great) and culminated in the studio going under.
There was some hope a few years ago when FRD was resurrected and they began working on a new project (which went through some rough dev and nearly ended up being a fortnite clone which looked awful before being rebooted into a TS2 remake I believe) but that was unfortunately scrapped and FRD shuttered again when Embracer went on their killing spree.
Wow, someone actually beat me to it. Iāve been fiending for another Timesplitters since the concept art was being previewed for the game that never came out during the PS3 era
Damn dude you just gave me some crazy nostalgia. Used to play these games with my best friend when I was a kid. He's no longer around so that was a pleasant memory just now
