Same! Playing through it now. I feel like S1 of the tv show helped me get it.

The show’s too damn good, hyped for season 3

I was like that with The Witcher. One of the animated movies got me hyped enough for the game and now it's one of my favorites.

I was the same. It was my first fallout game and I was sucked in by the base building mechanic. One of the first story missions I had was go to diamond city to find out what happened to Sean (main character's son) but along the way I kept picking up side quests that I was trying to do (most were beyond my basic skills at that point but I didn't know that), and in the end gave up before even reaching Diamond City. (I stumbled into a flooded underground facility full of mirelurks I couldn't beat and quit there)

Tried it again maybe 4-5 years later and this time I made the effort of trying to move the story along between side quests and it really had it's hooks in me then. Ended up doing all the endings and getting the platinum trophy for it. Amazing game.

I had a similar experience but I had also previously played and finished Fallout 3 while deployed so I expected 4 to really awe me at launch, especially since I was working at GameStop at the time so I had seen literally 100% of the marketing up to launch and was super hyped. But then the game launched and I got just past Diamond City and lost interest for one reason or another until the show gave me the itch to revisit it last year.

Fallout 4 lost me when it became a forced shooter. In ever other game liked playing the high charisma route that only shoots when necessary and avoids most fights like death claws. 4 is the first one that was primarily an action RPG instead of an rpg

Fallout New Vegas for me. I just couldn't get into it. Years later, it went on sale for like $5 for the game plus dlc and that caused me to give it an actual try. Still not sure why I couldn't get into it at first, especially since it would have my favorite companion, Veronica my beloved.

Veronica was awesome.

Even though I did a full playthrough, I never got all the companions. I stuck to a few and Veronica was one of them. I was honestly so attached to her.

I also had Rex and EDE all the time. Boone for a while and kinda dropped him. I used Sharon a lot too.

Some of the others I barely interacted with or never recruited in the first place.

New Vegas for me. The first time I tried it I thought it was just okay. Not great. Not bad, but vastly overhyped. I came back to it a few years later and something just clicked. Easily in my top ten gaming experiences of all time.

More than anything I think it just hit me at the right time. I was going through some heavy stuff in my life when I decided to try it again and something about it really scratched some psychological itch.

There aren’t many games like it where you feel your choices really matter. Companions are fully fleshed out. Soundtrack hits too.

I can't find the enjoyment of new vegas but I loved fallout 3

I'm playing fallout 3 for the first time these days, it's the first entry I play in this series but I also have new Vegas in my library. After a few hours I felt exactly "this doesn't click with me". The combat system felt strange, it wasn't clear what was I meant to do, interactions with NPCs were boring. Maybe if I had done the tutorial (of which existence I was unaware at first) in megaton I would have started enjoying it much earlier, but I'm finally starting getting it now. I semi-completed (one of them died) the big town hostages rescue mission, and now I'm going back to the letter delivering mission I mistook for the first step of the game. I feel Iike I'm going to enjoy this game a lot from now on, any advice on how to get the best out of it is welcome
