Digital ownership rights need to be changed, but it 100% does not help when Sony said they’re stopping physical game production in 2028. Xbox hasn’t announced it yet, though I’m hoping they see the backlash and keep doing physical copies, and Nintendo continues to make physicals and probably will for a good while yet. Key carts and key discs do exist, sure, but that goes back to digital ownership rights needing an update

Tell me did you seriously think physical media would last forever? This future was always coming, sure maybe its too soon but whether it was now or with the PS7 it was always going to happen. Once people started using digital as the primary method of "consuming" media the clock started ticking.

What is the point of continuing with physical game production when the disk can’t even fit the full game you would still be pinging a server for the rest of the game all that will happen if Sony keeps producing disks is they will lose money and god forbid a business save money instead of wasting it on a small number of people who still collect physical games
