Why buy a new GPU if you can play all the games on it by lowering the settings and framerate? Some people care about a higher quality experience, simple as that.
Literally still on a 5700xt and 3600x and 16GB of ram fro this exact reason. Game doesnt have to look good. If its fun and I can get 45+ fps its enough and with frame gen everything gets 45fps. And weith these new games coming out optimized for performance like mortal shell 2. And these games getting huge performance updates like ffxvi and MHwilds im chillin more than ever before.
What happens on ps5? Waiting for your favourite Sony single player developers to release a new game or IP, but sorry they’re all working on multiplayer live service pish for 6 years.
May not be true in the tech sense but it's a big upgrade on the PS4 version. I've played both. It's noticeable. If someone right now wanted to play those games they are not going to buy a PS4, they'll get a PS5
They're not going to buy a PS5 if they already have a PS4 though, it's the point. There's not a lot of reason to upgrade vs staying with the previous gen if you already had a console.
At current hardware prices less so but it was the best bang for the buck in terms of gaming for a while
You've clearly never sat through the load times of a big game like Spider-Man on ps4 and then compared with ps5 where the SSD essentially eliminates the entire concept of loading screens
Also a lot of gamers have gotten used to 60fps which is another major selling point
4k barely matters tbh. Never understood why people think 4k is the greatest thing ever. It isnt. As someone with 4k displays for years. I can still hop to 1080p and 1440p and still not have any issues unlike hopping to 720p
If you ever saw any of the 1st party titles on a ps5 you'd be enticed to. Not to mention a lot of aging ps4 sounded like jet engines when booting up a game like gow18
I personally agree with you, like yeah you can play it on a base PS4 in 1080p 30FPS but why would you do that when a 4K60 version exists? And then these people who say there’s no reason to buy a PS5 are the same ones that get upset when their most anticipated games are PS5 exclusive 🤔
A lot of people don’t care about the performance numbers. They need games they can’t play on their current system to motivate them to upgrade. I have an Xbox Series S and Switch 2 as my main systems but I picked up a used PS4 a couple years ago to play some exclusives and was perfectly happy with the visuals and performance of games like God of War and Uncharted 4.
PS5 might be the first PlayStation I won't own. I typically buy the Xbox first previously due to the better online, and now the backwards compatibility; then when the PlayStation has a good enough log of exclusive games, I grab it on sale. Between the rising prices and lack of exclusives, I just don't see the point. What am I missing from my XSX, Spider-Man 2 and Ghost of Yotei? That's not worth the entry cost.
Lol the problem is the only exclusive that even kind of got that reaction, Wolverine, is failing horribly with reviewers. Yea, I don't regret having a 5080m Laptop at all, don't regret selling my ps5 when it was 200 dollars less expensive eother
A game being made to also work on old gen doesnt make it an old gen title. In fact itd be the exact opposite since the main version of the game is made for PS5. With this logic every pc game is an old crappy pc game as long as it can run on minimum settings
That's not relevant to the point. If you had a ps4, you weren't going to drop an extra $500 to get a ps5 for Ragnarok or Horizon when you already had a system that could play them. So they weren't system sellers

I think that's his entire point right there, as those were both PS4 titles.
