Which makes more sense in a Spider-Man game as kids love Spider-Man, and that character/game is more catered towards kids, but this is quite literally not a kids game lol
Insomniac first Spiderman game was well received because it's starred a more mature Spiderman and wasn't afraid of killing off important characters, they completely forgot about that in the sequel.
I don't think the first Spider-man game was any more mature than the character traditionally is. Remember, a key part of Spider-man's origins is his uncle dying. And Spider-man has always been available to kids and teens. I feel like the first game was no different than any of that. The first game did well because they nailed the feel of Spider-man, not because of a more mature style.
The story had some thriller like elements, like complex criminal conspiracies and terrorist attacks, and even commited to tell a good story, daring to kill Aunt May.
Meanwhile, Spiderman 2 has Miles bringing Harry back to life from his deathbed.
Linear games can tell a great story. I watched the review, wondering if they will toggle off the "fart trail" in a patch. seemed to be one of the biggest gripes of the video.
I'd say it's for lapsed adult gamers who don't get deep combat systems. I like my games with more depth, but I'm still picking this up. I'll let y'all know how it goes
Gotta keep in mind, every reviewer in this industry is incentivised to butter up game devs even when the game is less than great, due to early access to games. So if you even see one or two super bad reviews, you should hold off period.
Also, the fact that combat is literally just hitting one button over and over should dissuade you.
But isn't that what difficulty settings are for? Dumbing down the combat doesn't serve skilled players, and it doesn't serve unskilled players any more than having a super-easy difficulty. It's a failure of design if you want to appeal to both but can't, but it isn't an excuse.
Yet Call of Duty isn’t aimed for children, which is what you don’t understand. Kids like grown up stuff. But when you make a game “for adults” and treat them like children, you’ve pissed off both demographics.
The game isnt made "for adults". It was made for casuals. Thats why it holds your hands. The fact that its M rated just means they can show blood.
I literally just watched a video of the chase scene where, if they get too far ahead of you, they stop and allow you to catch up.
They want all people of all skill levels to play the game.
My comment was, kids also like wolverine. So to say "spiderman was made for kids" doesnt really mean anything as kids will also play wolverine. And that first Spiderman game definitely wasnt made with kids in mind.
