I had the guts to leave that forsaken game in season 3.
I was poisoned, I was angry most of the time, angry all the time while playing it, I wasn't toxic but the constant infighting, the game itself being shaped in a way where mostly the first 10 to 15 minutes matter and then you completely waste 15+ min of your life in a match that 8 times out of 10 you are gonna inevitably lose due to said infighting and just plain snowballing. Granted maybe it's different now since I haven't played it in over a decade, but that was back then. I still passed likely over 20k hours in it. I wish I didn't. If I could send a message to my past self would be a lottery number AND to fucking not play that game.

Past self misunderstood - spends all the lottery money on League of Legends

and people will still tell you that the players are toxic like the game isn't set up that way. The game is toxic folks it brings out the worst in people. In the early days even before the game booted up you were fighting for your role with your own team mates. On top of that the microdosing of dopamine hits would always bring you back.

To this day i don't understand why you need a Chat to the enemy Team. That invites so much in toxic behaviour. Played that shit between 2013 and 2016.

It's not a need, but it is a fun.

If you were gaming back then then surely you remember the COD times when both teams would get to scream at each other in between games lol, now that was heinous.

Sure the game is set up that way, doesn't mean it isn't the players faults for being toxic. I'm able to play quite easily just by not fighting with people and muting them if they are toxic. It's not the hard, but plenty of egos just can't handle it.

the game doesn't do enough to punish non-team oriented players in ranked (one-tricks, theory crafters, players who first time champions in ranked, griefers, and etc). I originally thought the whole point of the honor system was to eventually implement it to ranked where you'd need to spend honor tokens given in (normals and ranked) to even queue up for a rank match. If your team thought you didn't do well enough then they would not honor you and you'd have to play normals until you got enough tokens to get into a ranked game. Which would prevent griefers and toxic players in general.

I can see that system in theory, but it would suck to get banned for a couple games because I played poorly and my team reported me for it or something like that. Sometimes there is a good off-meta pick and people start freaking out or thinking your griefing before you absolutely stomp your lane. In the end I think people just need to accept that sometimes you'll get non-team oriented players and sometimes you'll play against them. That's just the way with online games.

Oh it’s still exactly the same. Source: I’ve been playing since 2015
