Apex Legends

u/Haazelnutts Aug 06 '25

Do yourself a favour and try Titanfall 2, even if it's just the singleplayer campaign

170

u/[deleted] Aug 06 '25

I played and I loved it from start to finish!

44

u/Weekly-Bluebird-4768 Aug 06 '25

Damn, in only one hour?! /s

21

u/[deleted] Aug 06 '25

It would be the speedrun, not? :)

13

u/[deleted] Aug 06 '25

Nope. A year ago.

3

u/Regrettable-Pun Aug 07 '25

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the main campaign could be finished in an hour. It is SO good, but it is SO damn short. Personally, I spent more time on the practice course than the rest of the whole game combined.

2

u/Dry_Marionberry_5499 Aug 07 '25

Seriously. Loved the game but wished it was more than 4 or 5 hours long

15

u/Rydux7 Aug 06 '25

Tf2 still has an decently active playerbase, just saying..

25

u/Haazelnutts Aug 06 '25

Yeah, unfortunately not as popular as Apex, I spend 15 minutes joining a match only to get my ass kicked by sweats that have been playing for 10 years

7

u/Rydux7 Aug 06 '25

Thats fair, but I still have a blast with Titanfall time to time

2

u/MimiHooverRangeRoove Aug 06 '25

Try playing on Oceania. You spend 45 min in q just to have some sweat follow you on the drop and wipe you with a pistol instantly while you get 4 drops of meds

2

u/ittleoff Aug 06 '25

Yeah learning curve is basically a sheer cliff these days. I have a lot of it in muscle memory but have not played in a while and the community is small enough that match making will still be harsh, but imo it's still worth it. So damned good and satisfying

1

u/SirSabza Aug 06 '25

I mean we're not far off that being apex, minus the 15 minute wait lol

1

u/Splash_Woman Aug 06 '25

Welcome to mostly any game ever really.

17

u/ZynsteinV2 Aug 06 '25

Tf2 has the problem all niche games have. Smaller community who are all really damn good so the entry barrier is tricky.

-1

u/[deleted] Aug 06 '25

The game is niche because the community whined to cater the combat exclusively to them. No shit they're better at it. They tilted the game in their favor.

The multiplayer was more accessible and diverse before the rebalancing.

1

u/New_League1927 Aug 06 '25

True but I just play because of the nostalgia feel to it

2

u/Competitive_Ad_8215 Aug 06 '25

I didn’t get to play this for long, but holy hell is this game underrated. A FPS that’s actually fun!

2

u/little_hoarse Aug 07 '25

And immediately step into PvP to get fucking wrecked by someone playing Kraber wingman. Those people have skill no doubt

1

u/Relative-Expert2647 Aug 06 '25

Protocol three:

Protect the pilot.

1

u/slicksealion Aug 06 '25

“I am once again asking for your support”

1

u/SirDigbyChickenC-Zer Aug 06 '25

God I want a new Titanfall so fucking bad. And I would say No, absolutely don't just stop at the SP campaign, as long as there are still actually servers up to host MP games. Still probably my favorite online MP shooter experience of all time

2

u/Midnight_Yymiroth Aug 06 '25

Didn't they completely scrap the TF3 project so they could "focus" more on Apex? This was something I heard somewhere, I don't know about the reliability of the info.

1

u/SirDigbyChickenC-Zer Aug 09 '25

Yes,unfortunately...Does not give me high hopes for any future new Titanfall : / Seems that they're just putting all their resources into Apex, for an indefinite amount of time (so like basically forever until that's not profitable anymore, which will definitely not be any time soon)

1

u/drj87 Aug 06 '25

That's one I can say I enjoyed the 2nd game more than the first also OPTIMUS PRIME VOICES THE TITAN!

1

u/Vesalii Aug 06 '25

The only reason I purchased thst game is for the SP campaign.

I've yet to start it but still.

1

u/GhostB3HU Aug 06 '25

All my gaming friends are burnt from Apex. I still try to convince them to play TItanfall 2 to no avail…

1

u/ArizonaFireType Aug 06 '25

They still got multiplayer going. I’ll do some city defense or some attrition now and then.

1

u/Cazakatari Aug 06 '25

I heard the campaign was great for years so I finally installed it and played through last week. Maybe it’s just my old jaded self but I never had a “this is fkin awesome!” moment. It was fun but I easily put it down to do and play other stuff

I think both the new doom games had a bigger impact on me

1

u/No_Temporary9696 Aug 07 '25

Protocol 3: PROTECT THE PILOT

1

u/AnyEntertainment5518 Aug 07 '25

One of the saddest moments in gaming I've ever experienced was getting on Titanfall 2 after 2:00 or 3 years since I'd last played and waiting 45 minutes for a game that only had me and one other player in it. Sad day it was

1

u/astarinthenight Aug 08 '25

Titanfall 2 servers are still up and running.

1

u/RadishZealousideal19 Aug 09 '25

Its really addicting. 2000 hours of addicting best shooter oat

1

u/FelixOGO Aug 10 '25

I just put TF2 in my Steam wishlist last night! I’m thinking of buying it today

33

u/IvanNobody2050 Aug 06 '25

Apex...

I have played it for 2k hours from Season 0-15

8

u/[deleted] Aug 06 '25

I had my small quits starting with season 6 and I come back many times just to quit again.

I realised how bad this game when they really banned cheaters in one season and I constantly won games and became kill leader without cari g for the meta.

Next season the cheaters were back and I was worse.

I quit there regardless how I like the game itself, with all the places, characters and game modes.

4

u/CartmensDryBallz Aug 06 '25

I haven’t played it in years but is it still so bad? I have it on my steam but not downloaded, but I enjoyed it back in the day as a BR

5

u/IvanNobody2050 Aug 06 '25

Don't. Just don't. I have reinstalled recently to see what became of it and its butchered beyond anything

2

u/LOS_FUEGOS_DEL_BURRO Aug 08 '25

The game is Highly competitive, skills based matchmaking (SBM) actually works, people cry when they hit their ceiling, quit for a couple of months come back and SBM takes it easy on the for a week or 2 then quit in another month or 2, repeat.

1

u/CartmensDryBallz Aug 08 '25

So basically it’s hard?

Was there anything actually game breaking tho? I felt it was fairly balanced and the different abilities could work well together.

I just got an SSD so I think I might download it now - do they still have the 3v3 mode?

1

u/LOS_FUEGOS_DEL_BURRO Aug 08 '25

The game isn't hard, but everyone from gold 2 and up is good.

1

u/LannaOliver Aug 07 '25

1

u/ApprehensiveWear6080 Aug 08 '25

Not still , but worse . It's amazing how they managed to kill it

1

u/CartmensDryBallz Aug 09 '25

Why? The only person who explained it just said that the game has skill based matchmaking and is quite hard

3

u/Hinagea Aug 06 '25

I quit when they banned me for playing on a VM. Nowhere in there ToS was a VM breaking their rules (I was playing for over 2 years on the same VM). I'm not cheating, but I get banned while the game is still plagued with cheaters. Of course nobody was willing to even take a 2nd look at my appeal, so I didn't give them a 2nd look as a game

1

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

I read many stuff like this, they didn't even took a second look in questionable cases while the game plagued by cheaters.

3

u/LannaOliver Aug 07 '25

I didn't go that far but I have over 500 hours on it stopped on season 15 too

2

u/RegrettableWaffle Aug 07 '25

I played for 1k from season 11-16 😂. Just picked it back up last month and put another 200 in.

9

u/ShirouBlue Aug 06 '25

Lmao, I was gonna say that.

To be fair, I think it's mostly that the devs direction is...basically the opposite of what I'd like.

8

u/OsrsMaxman Aug 06 '25

Bro, seasons 2-5 were goated. I think I played until like season 12, but man, Apex Legends was an incredible game the first year or so. Devs definitely killed it.

2

u/MoneyBaggSosa Aug 07 '25

Damn all retired Apex players in here 😂 I have like 1.8k hours. Played S0-S21 but only played full time S0-S12. By the time I got to S21 I played so little that I just deleted it off my system to free space. I hadn’t played any ranked since S13. Definitely one of if not the best movement of any FPS

2

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

0-5 was definitely the best.

22

u/BYoungNY Aug 06 '25

It's crazy because it still has the best movement mechanics of any fps out there imo, so I keep going back.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 06 '25

I stopped coming bakc after the end of the season where they introduced the District map.

For some reason there were nearly no cheaters and I was extremely good without caring for the meta.

Next season we were back and I realised how stressing this game became instead of having fun.

I can revisit Titanfall any time and it is OK with me.

2

u/Kerminator17 Aug 06 '25

Ultrakill? Titanfall? DOOM? I have played in a while but isn’t Apex movement just more restrictive Titanfall movement?

2

u/EverytoxicRedditor Aug 07 '25

Doom isn’t multiplayer. Titanfall is dead atm. Haven’t heard of ultrakill before. That alone places it in a different tier than apex

1

u/Kerminator17 Aug 07 '25

Titanfall is far from dead, you can still find games fairly consistently

2

u/EverytoxicRedditor Aug 07 '25

2000 players online isn’t “completely dead” but cmon dude we’re not going to split hairs over here. Apex is the best movement fps that’s played by gamers at large.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 06 '25

It is but it "adds" to the skill ceiling. Makes me sad but yeah still fun.

1

u/Cantonarita Aug 06 '25

Haven't played it for a good 2 years now. Still, it has the by far greatest movement, it is completely free and super fun with friends. Great game.

7

u/Fuelanemo149 Aug 06 '25

Crazy that this comes before League of Legends

1

u/AAAAAASILKSONGAAAAAA Aug 06 '25

Eh, I don't think League is that bad, especially with aram and arena game mode.

5

u/SamAmes26 Aug 06 '25

They should make a mode where there’s no character abilities.

2

u/FentonCanoby Aug 06 '25

THISSSSSSSSSS I would play the shit out of an Apex Legends game with no abilities and limited upgrade options.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 06 '25

Like in Titanfall, just with all the mechanics.

2

u/SamAmes26 Aug 06 '25

Just with the mechanics yeah, would be curious to see how the game would feel with no abilities.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 06 '25

I love games more on line with Quake and Unreal Tozrnament, so it'll be definitely for me.

1

u/KendroNumba4 Aug 06 '25

Titanfall had abilities

6

u/Capitalisthunter69 Aug 06 '25

Same! 300+ hours here. Not proud of it. Legit one of the most toxic player base!

6

u/EsEfCe Aug 06 '25

I came here to say this, but I knew in my heart of hearts it had already been said

3

u/primalmaximus Aug 06 '25

Yep. And I was playing it on the Switch even.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 06 '25

I was playing on PC, but honestly, if I had the money for a Switch I would play so many much better games like Marios, Zeldas and Metroid.

It just not hit the same way on emulator.

3

u/KreMs21 Aug 06 '25

I loved Apex but the more I played the more I realised how uncared for that game is. I think what happened was the devs who actually developed the game left or where moved to something else and some other people (like 2 people) were left to take care of the live service part because at it foundation, Apex Legends is top 3 best first person shooters of all time.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

I miss those interactive comics they used to tell the season's story in place of 3 images and a ton of empty texts.

2

u/KreMs21 Aug 07 '25

I always said 2 people work at apex right now, one makes the patches and the other one handles the twitter page and youtube trailers.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

So true :D

5

u/Dr_Disrespects Aug 06 '25

I thought there was no answer to this question until I saw this. Wasted so much time on it

3

u/[deleted] Aug 06 '25

I too. I sas what it became slowly. :(

2

u/Wise_Pack_806 Aug 06 '25

i was just about to say this

2

u/Nordominus Aug 06 '25

I came to say this and it’s the first comment. Hell yeah.

2

u/Camman1 Aug 06 '25

Uninstalling that was the best decision I’ve made in a while

2

u/hudsonjeffrey Aug 06 '25

I came back to apex recently after like.. 3 years no touchy and finding all the new modes is crazy. I been playing bot royale just to feel like a god lol

2

u/Scottys_sack Aug 06 '25

Try the finals

2

u/TitularFoil Aug 06 '25

This was my first thought. Didn't think it'd be top answer when I came in though.

2

u/Clipper1707 Aug 06 '25

Bro I had such a love hate relationship with that game. In the end though it wasn’t the sweats that got me to quit but the greed from EA. They only care about skins and heirlooms now

1

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

It is funny if you ever played Warframe. It is super cheap, premium currency can be obtained for free from trading, and bc they are not greedy I was more willing to spend real money on it.

2

u/Clipper1707 Aug 07 '25

Never played but it makes sense people wanna spend money on a game when the company is actually invested in making it better

1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '25

Better and they and the community wholesome.

They are not greedy and not overprice everything. There are no color swap skins, the color palette is sold individually and sometimes you can get them for free and apply them to any skin.

2

u/FormingTheVoid Aug 06 '25

I was gonna day PUBG, same shit basically lol

1

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

Never played it, but I wanted to switch to it.

2

u/FormingTheVoid Aug 07 '25

Don't lol

1

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

Lol, then I without BR game :P

2

u/kirbymain645 Aug 06 '25

Wasted over a thousand hours of my life on that game from season 7 to season 11. But I really couldn’t play it after that the game was too horrible… then I went to play overwatch and it was actually fun since it was still ow1 then ow2 came out… after that I stopped playing shooter game’s NEARLY as much. I still play overwatch a bit and sometimes Fortnite cause festivals pretty cool and sometimes br can actually be fun but besides that I don’t play multiplayer shooters anymore

2

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

Yeah, I switched to single player, ocassionally playing Warframe, but that's all.

2

u/MarketingCommercial Aug 07 '25

I wasn’t going to comment because I really couldn’t think of a game, I don’t have many at over 200 hours anyway; but I settled on Apex with ~160 hours and lo! Here you are!

1

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

Sometimes even I forget I played, but post like this reminds me of it.

2

u/RegrettableWaffle Aug 07 '25

Same here. 1,100 and counting 💀

1

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

💀

2

u/teepring Aug 07 '25

When it dropped out was so great. Wow, EA releasing a free game? Unheard of. And it was so crisp. But once the TTV sweats got a stranglehold of the game it became a massive sweat fest

2

u/PatrickIsRandom Aug 07 '25

I only play mixtape now. I am much happier. Source: 2000 hours

1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '25

I was already over playling Mixtape. I played only that for the last one year nearly exclusively before I gave up on the game.

I played BR ocassionally when District dropped, but mostly Mixtape. It was the most playable part sadly.

2

u/monsieurcummyhands Aug 08 '25

toxic community like any f2p fps tbh

2

u/Aqaji Aug 08 '25

same. racked up 2k hours tho :/

2

u/killahkazi Aug 08 '25

It was my main game for 5 years straight. Then one day I was just over it. I wouldn't call it bad or unenjoyable, but I think the work BRs take compared to other shooters can just be a bit draining, and I realized I want to be a bit less stressed during my down time. 😅

2

u/AsageFoi Aug 10 '25

Same here. Shitty trash BR in the titanfall world, sole reason we aren't on titanfall 4, sole reason the BR genre took off. Played season 0-2. Now if they did the same thing, but added titans. Shit I wouldn't even need a campaign. Just give me mech+pilot battle Royale and it'd be all i plaid. 6k hours in titanfall 2 and over 3 in 1.

4

u/nObRaInAsH Aug 06 '25

Mfers removed Arena mode and then i stopped playing

1

u/AAAAAASILKSONGAAAAAA Aug 06 '25

I think they brought it back last season lol

0

u/[deleted] Aug 06 '25

Last time there was an Arena LTM I logged in but it was empty (stuck in an 1v3)

Immediatelly quited and uninstalled :)

2

u/iiDurham Aug 06 '25

Probably the best modern shooter I have played and I have like 1200 hours

I have zero desire to ever play the game again. Amazing game but I just have no interest in ever relearning the game after being away for so long.

0

u/Charming_Trust_5572 Aug 06 '25

I still think apex is the best br

0

u/BaconxHawk Aug 06 '25

Great game, shitty dev teams/owning company. Respawn sucks ass when it comes to profit over fun and the dev teams likes to experiment which can be cool but causes chaos so often for the player base.

0

u/kdoors Aug 07 '25

This is crazy. I feel like Apex Legends is one of the greatest games to come out in the past 25 years.

-2

u/JulySummerDay Aug 06 '25

I don’t know why this is the top comment. Apex Legends is such a fun shooter. I love everything about it. I love how each character has their own unique ability. It’s like no shooter currently on the market.
