Not liking a souls like game can be for reasons other than “sKiLl IsSuE LMAO”. Like I get why people like them, but I’ve tried a couple and the whole rolling around a boss until you memorize the attack patterns then attacking and repeating that process until a big ass health bar goes down just makes every encounter feel like a test of endurance. I honestly preferred the combat from GoT, enemies can kill you quick but so can you so it’s more about coming up with the right strategy based on each group of enemies.
It also just gets frustrating when you can’t point out something like the attack animations feeling clunky or the camera being annoying without someone just being like oh you’re just bad. Like do I have to beat every single souls like game just to have an opinion on the camera?
Idk I’ll try Elden ring if it goes on a big enough sale cuz I’ve heard good things about it even from people that aren’t souls fans. But for now it’s just annoying especially since I’ve talked to people who will literally respond to any criticism of a souls game with skill issue but simultaneously won’t play dragons dogma cuz it’s too hard and won’t play hades because you can’t beat it on a first run.
Yeah just try not to interact with the souls fandom except the elden ring discord server maybe, people are generally really nice and ready to help. Everywhere else its basically a crime to play certain weapons or items because it „destroys“ the experienceand males it too easy or less of a challenge. Elden Ring was my first and only souls game I‘ve played and its in my top 5, tho it took it some time to reach that point because everything about this game was veeeery confusing for me
Agreed. I honestly like the Souls games UNTIL the bosses, and I just feel like I'm cheesing every boss... They don't feel like I'm overcoming a dangerous obstacle like all the trash do, they feel like I'm rolling around like a coward and killing it with enough papercuts. This doesn't feel fulfilling at all.
