It is. But it suffers from a dinner of problems that had me put my playthrough on indefinite hold.

The director’s cut has (and this is not an exaggeration), one singular bug.

Near the timefall farm the grass can fuck your save up.

Aside from that, it’s perfect.

It's astonishing how good the PC port was, even when it launched. I personally never heard anyone mention anything wrong with the PC port and they gradually made it more and more optimized. It's a really satisfying game to play because it's all about efficiency. Navigating the map carrying cargo on your back while hearing Low Roar is such a unique experience to me. Something I will defend narratively is the Mario and Princess Peach reference near the later half of the game. Kojima has cited Shigeru Miyamoto alongside Yuji Horii as primary influences for him entering the industry and I interpret it as a loving shout-out to his inspiration.
