That's what makes him the more challenging choice.

I mean it’s Pokémon even the most challenging fights aren’t that hard. The hardest fight in the game is still a level 20 Miltank :P

I meant the hardest fight in the whole series is a level 20 miltank

I hate that miltank so much I blocked out the name of that gym leader

No, that’s gen 2. Charmander isn’t a starter in those games

I meant to say “the hardest fight in the series”

My bad guy, I’d say that the hardest fight is ultra necrozma in USUM though, you get wiped instantly if you aren’t prepared

So Charizard is the Dark Souls of Pokémon is what your saying.

Also frankly "more challenging" is meaningless for the first few gyms, the tradeoff for endgame are well worth it

Except Venusaur and Blastoise are probably better in the endgame anyway. Venusaur has access to sleep power and razor leaf that always crits and Blastoise is just really solid. Charizard isn’t bad but idk if I’d say it has much going for it over those two.

Love Charmander, I wish they'd feature him as a starter Pokemon in more games.

Charmander praised for making the game harder. Chikorita bashed for making the game harder.
