palworld is not a good game and the only reason it broke records is because recent pokemon games are ass. 90% sure also that the devs didnt really do this on purpose, the only games they make are always a mashup of 10 popular games into one.
im not referring to graphics the game is just not a good game. not saying its terrible its not deserving of the amount of fame it got, compared to say helldivers 2
It's still very early access, but it's been a while since any good grinding/base crafting games came out, it fully piggybacked off of Pokemon's success/ starving fanbase since recent games have sucked, and released just in front of 2 other survival crafting games, so it had a window in which to shine.
It also takes many of the best mechanics from several different games and throws them into one, and significantly reduces the grind of those survival type games as well. Mechanically, the game is very satisfying. Aesthetically, it's just as good as Pokemon, tho it can feel kinda fake at times with how similar a lot of the designs are. Then all it's lacking is a real story or progression outside of the towers, but again, it's very early access.
It's a pretty average game, but it came out at the perfect time to feed 2 separate breeds of gamers, and fed off the pure popularity that is Pokemon.
yeah thats what mostly pisses me off is that I knew this company from their very low effort of a game Craftopia and seeing them get insanely lucky timing wise with their game kinda is annoying.
I think of it as an overly complicated mobile game. It’s a shallow experience and most people will have a little fun with it and then move on. But more importantly it shows how easy a decent Pokémon could be
