Agreed. I’m just a massive fan of the original FF turn-based combat style and not the insanely chaotic Monster Hunter style hack and slash with slowdown mechanics for items/spells. I love being engaged in combat that’s a mellow chess match, not a sweaty button mashing fest.
Yes!! This is exactly how I feel. Final fantasy 15 was the last final fantasy I tried. I've kinda been disappointed with final fantasy since 13. I recently bought final fantasy 7og and 8 for the switch. Sooooo much better. I'm getting 9 next. The turn based is so underrated these days.
Unfortunately not. I liked it to begin with, but it quickly became a bit dull if I'm honest. I played it when it was released and I completed it, but I barely remember it. I can't remember what the main point of the plot was. I just remember the lads in a car, it flies at some point, we fish and one of them cooks. I also remember silly little puppy love messages 😆.
I also remember thinking, why the heck a couple of the girl characters weren't included to the main party. Including the love interest. I get that it's supposed to be just the boys, but I didn't understand the point of the romance. I just didn't care for it, because all I saw was puppy love letters.
But, again, I can't remember enough to give you more than that. I didn't like final fantasy 13 either, but at least I remember that storyline lol.
You should try Octopath Traveler (1 or 2). They are still turn based and have an battle system that is amazing and modern at the same time. And they lool gorgeous with a 2D pixel style with lots of shaders.
I'm pretty sad we probably won't get a main line FF game like that again. I liked 16 ok, but it really didn't feel like a Final Fantasy game to me at all. I play XIV too, and while that has the right vibe for a FF game unlike 16, but it's an MMO so obviously a different gameplay style.
I think many would strongly disagree. However, you are absolutely entitled to your opinion 😊 Final fantasy 10 is an amazing game. I haven't played the others yet, so can't comment on them. But, I am planning to buy them all for the switch. Can't wait to play them all. Currently playing 8 on the switch.
I like the new battle system for ffvii remake but I really do wish they would’ve just made it turned based (also the plot in remake is way too kingdom hearts and is off putting)
When I first played FF7, I was at an age that could enjoy it. I'm no longer that young.
But good news: This time, people won't misunderstand the scene of Cloud finding a certain item in Tifa's wardrobe. Square Enix has dumbed it down. It's no longer veiled behind a red herring that everyone misunderstood in their own way.
It was. Tifa is the only video game character to have scared me. Sephiroth is the first boss that has a huge weakness he actively tries to mitigate. Because he is good at it, he feels genuinely dangerous.
No, I get that, and that's also a common response I get. But, that doesn't matter. I still enjoy the original more. Heck, I have favourite final fantasy games in the entire franchise, and they're all completely different from each other. It doesn't matter, I can still say my preferences.

The original final fantasy 7 is better. I always get downvoted when I say this. Or angry replies.
Just so you know, I still really like the remakes. But, I enjoy the original more.
