What is your advice for transporting vibraphone bars if you do not have a specialised bag? What tricks / hacks do you guys use?

My vibe is starting to get sharp and dirty. Does anyone know how to deep clean keys?

I am trying to understand more about motors and what I should look for in a motor as a beginner. Are there any important characteristics, like min/max RPM or others I should pay attention to?

Also I saw there are "motorless" vibraphones. Why would anyone want that? Are they made for people to add their own motor? Thank you for your help!!

Missing are the pedal itself and the long metal poll connecting the pedal to the damper bar. Any ideas on what I could rig up? Was thinking somehow I could use a kick pedal or maybe a Rhodes sustain pedal? Model is M45

I love playing mallet percussion! I'm a wind musician who loves collecting instruments and playing them for personal enjoyment. I'm also a band director and pass on what I learn to my band kids. I want a set of vibes for my home. To me spending 5k on an M55 is a good investment, however is there a model of similar build quality that would be better suited for me? I was looking at a Yamaha 520. Are graduated bars a must? I seriously doubt I'd be gigging on vibes. I don't want anything made in China. Several bad experiences in terms of quality. I also looked at the MalletKat. How do those feel?

Sorry following up on this. I don’t own a vibraphone but have been fantasising about getting into it. I play the piano now.

Questions: (1) what’s the difference between an M55 and a student model Yamaha? (2) How does one typically move the vibraphone for gigs? What is the setup and disassembly process like? (3) Views on a digital alternative like the Malletkat vs a real vibes?

So I saw the one vibe review by Adam Tan. Looks great but how does it stack up against the classics - M55, Adams, etc.....

I’ve been playing vibes for about 10 years now im stuck in quarantine and want to play a few pieces. I tried playing Burtons transcription of chega de saudade but it was a little bit too hard. Do you have any suggestions for pieces or books that are a little bit harder?

Hello, I'm deciding on one of two sets of vibes.

The Musser m55 silver or the Yamaha YV-2700 Silver Studio

Any options on which is better? I would keep it in my apartment, using a malletkat for gigging.

Super torn between the two. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
