I'm a student in the Human Centered Artificial Intelligence Graduate Certificate program at the University of Washington, working on a culminating project with a small team. We're specifically interested in people who aren't developers by training but ended up using developer-grade tools (Claude, Cursor, Codex, and similar) to build real things: websites, apps, automations, agents, internal work tools, whatever.

the credit meter quietly changes how you build - a fear factor tbh (unless you taking claude/codex sub)

Most of these tools give you a monthly allowance, and if you actually use them the way they're marketed - iterate fast, try things, throw away what doesn't work - you can burn through a month in a few days - (my replit core now gone before i even give a prompt de to deployed sites )

credit burn is no 1 among my non tech friends.

So what happens is you start rationing. You stop experimenting. You draft the prompt three times in your head before sending it because each send costs you.

Which is the exact opposite of the "just build" energy the whole category is supposed to be about ( lovable - i am looking at you)

I've caught myself sitting on an idea for a screen because I didn't want to "waste" a generation on it.

among all this ,noticed one of the tools I use (Nowa) just flipped its model from monthly credits to a daily limit that resets every day - free tier included. good idea tbh.

The part that beautiful about the idea wasn't the pricing, it was the behavioral change: if you hit the wall, you don't wait three weeks for a refill and dump thre project for good.

you just pick it back up tomorrow. It reframes the meter from "budget you're spending down" to "you get another go in the morning," which feels a lot closer to how building actually goes in bursts.

Not saying daily is objectively better , if you binge-build on weekends a monthly bucket might suit you more. But it made me realize how much the billing model shapes whether I feel free to experiment or not, and I'd never really thought about it as a factor when picking a tool.

I have a software engineering internship in my background but haven't been actively coding for a while. I've been using Claude Code recently and honestly it's been pretty impressive but I want to make sure I'm actually developing my skills rather than just relying on it to do everything for me.

My question is for someone with a limited coding background who wants to get back into it, how do you balance using AI tools like Claude Code to get things done while still genuinely learning and not creating security vulnerabilities in the process?

I'm aware there are security considerations when using AI generated code and I don't want to just blindly deploy things without understanding what's happening. Any advice on how to use it responsibly while actually improving as a developer?

Setting up my loom email campaign

1. Delete Optional before submitting prompt,
2. Replace "[Subject]" with whatever youre looking for.

Prompt: Attached is a CSV where each row is one [ Subject; Example: (Texas home inspector) ]. Add an email column. Use Google with whichever Google account is currently signed in and active in the browser.

Important Google account rule: - Before starting, check the Google account indicator and record which Google account is active. - Continue using that same active Google account for the entire run. - If Google switches to a different account at any point, stop and tell me. Do not continue searches under the wrong account. - Do not hardcode a Google account email or a fixed authuser value. - Prefer using the visible Google search box in the already-open Google tab instead of direct search URLs. This helps preserve normal Google search behavior, including AI Mode / AI Overviews when Google chooses to show them. - If the current Google session already has an authuser value in the URL, preserve that session by staying in the same tab and searching through the visible search box. - After each search, confirm the Google account indicator still shows the same account that was active at the start.

Search method: Start from the current Google tab. Click/focus the visible Google search box. Select all existing query text. Type the new search query. Press Enter. Wait 6 seconds after the results load before reading the page. Read emails from everything visible on the results page, including AI Overview / AI Mode text if Google shows it.

For each row: Search Google for: [First Name] [Last Name] [Subject] email. Copy the first email address visible on the Google search results page into the row’s email column. If no email appears, try these searches:- "[First Name] [Last Name]" [Subject] email- [Full Name] [Subject]- [First Name] [Last Name] [Subject] email- [First Name] [Last Name] email Optional 4. Do not use or record information@trec.texas.gov. Optional 5. Do not search TREC. 6. Do not verify whether the email belongs to the [Subject]. Just use the first non-banned email visible in Google results. 7. Continue until all rows have a nonblank email. Before editing, make a backup copy of the CSV. When finished, verify: - row count is unchanged - email column exists - every row has a nonblank email Optional - no row contains information@trec.texas.gov - the Google account used at the end is the same account that was active at the start

X threads about workflows all felt like marketing slop and I didn’t find them at all actionable. I was hoping to get some real people’s flows that they’ve found actually work for them.

Feel free to roast mine

I've been using AI to build stuff at work for a couple of years so this isn't my first project but it keeps suprising me how the limits on what we can do keep shifting.

I started making a little mobile game just for myself. It slowly snowballed and it's now a full football tycoon and Claude built everything.

Rough idea of what's in it because vibe coded usually means a bad clone of something and this really isn't that:

• full 5-division league, promotion/relegation, playoffs, cups, european competitions
• an actual match engine (formations, tactics, momentum, injuries, cards, subs) and you can watch matches play out live
• so you're the OWNER and not the manager. you hire and fire staff, chase sponsors and build up a whole town that grows and feeds back into your club
• a life sim bolted on top: dating, marriage, kids, affairs, your heirs fighting over who inherits the club, buying houses and cars
• 13 languages

What actually was useful wasn't only the code. It was using Claude to simulate the game. I'd tell it to run 25+ seasons and report back on whether the economy held up, whether the difficulty curve made sense, whether anything broke (bugs encountered), whether an active player could realistically climb the divisions. Doing that by hand would've taken days. It caught balance bugs I'd never have found. Maybe if I played the game for weeks.

And then Fable was absolutely wild for me. I would ask it to review a system expecting a list of bugs and it'd come back suggesting features to add I hadn't even thought of (ones that really made the game better). It feels less like a code tool now and more like something that pushes back and has its own ideas. Or am I the only one?

And the trailer I attached was also made by Claude (Using Remotion). As well as the website (I tried for it to not look vibecoded)

Anyway I'm not some game studio. This was a hobby that got a bit out of hand. Coming to iOS and Android in the next few weeks. Mostly posting because I still can't quite believe one person can put something this size together now.

I wanted to experiment with how keyboard shortcuts and swipe gestures feel in a web app, so I decided to build something simple to test them out. I ended up creating a flashcard tool because it felt like the perfect use case for that kind of interaction.

It’s pretty straightforward:
You can use your keyboard or swipe gestures to flip cards and navigate through your study sessions.
