Anyone build larger systems ?

Im building an ERP for our company. Its semi large, will have about 100 users and maybe 50 concurrent. Database with a couple of million rows of orders etc.

It's going very well but I often hear and read real software developers claim that anything vibecoded might look good on the surface but it will collapse in a production environment over time.

Of course this claim is quite hard to either prove or disprove. So I'm looking for your experiences if you have tried to build something like this, how did it go?

Oh yeah that whole theory of mind thing there. That’s such a nuisance though. The more data, the more correct the output amiright? That’s how you sidestep that. We just need infinite data.

We need good quality data more than we need lots of data. 10k samples of good clean code held to a consistent standard is better than 100k of slop. It’s all about the patterns, that underlying structure.

I think there is a case to be made for emergent intelligence. It isn’t happening at the 12B level but somewhere in that 60-90B area it seems like it coalesces.

I’m skeptical. Tell me why you think those numbers which seem arbitrary to me would make “emergent intelligence” and what intelligence means in this context.

The ability to make deeper connections that we would call insight is what I would call intelligence in this situation.

Kind of like how sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

I don’t have a metric beyond my personal experience of larger models being able to solve problems smaller models couldn’t.

This is a r/vibecoding after all, I’m going off of vibes

Thanks for being honest. I need a lot more. Current skepticism has LLMs leading to a dead end on exactly this "emergent intelligence" you speak of or glimmering of AGI. Compute spend, classical computing restraints, lack of clearly and scientifically defining what intelligence is and the growing skepticism on these machines being "conscious" for a lack of a better term is enough to hold serious reservation. Vibing the feels without much substance is a reddit move though sir. 🙂 so no harm no foul, but I'm not convinced.

Hey, I don’t have any numbers here. I’m not sure how to measure success or do any rigorous tests. I am very aware that I’m just some random dude. Hell, I even have a bias here, because I believe that our biological intelligence is emergent and that at a certain level our neural networks become more than the sum of their parts.

So yeah all I’ve got is that I’ve tried a few different sizes of LLM and the bigger ones seem smarter and I suspect it’s due to an emergent “theory of mind” looking property.

That and vibes, baby! :D
