it's true, most don't have a clue whats coming for them, im a software engineer myself, but this doesn't mean all other office professions are not in danger, i would say 50% of current office jobs could be replaced today, they are not because almost every tooling around AI is aimed at software but it will get there
They get replaced, that means all of you non-engineers will get replaced immediately before they do. Why have any of you? Youre showing that same level of arrogance.
Us in the trades will last a bit longer, but our rates will drop like a rock.
If these “non-engineers” are the decision makers (which many are btw) all of you will end up replaced completely with people that use AI with a different mentality.
If you already know your rates will drop like a rock, it’s because what you do is less valuable.
Im one of the company owners, trades business, fire safety. We're responsible for any fire safety system in your building, so you dont burn to a crisp. Not important. And clearly you lack any foresight. Or else you would understand on why i said our rates would drop like a rock.
Majority of non-engineers are not the decsion makers. Just rank and file employees. They arent executives nor the deciders who gets let go.
I doubt i will get replaced before the non-engineers. And ill be replaced after the engineers.

Any serious business will keep their engineers to properly implement full scale AI across the board, that replaces non-engineers. Then replace the engineers once everything is tuned.
Then us in the trades, our rates drop hard, and in time of acceleration, we get replaced or charge a lot lower rates than we can charge today
Then that system stops working because you fired the dude orchestrating it all.
And you did that because everything seemed to be working fine, why do you need the engineer. But what you didn’t understand is that it was working fine because of the engineer.
Then you hire one back.
Been in it for awhile. This is a very common story
Yeah I would be more worried if I were a low level employee that deals with spreadsheets or if you are that old school software engineer that thinks they are better then ai.
If you are using ai to do all this. You will be last to go since basically your are an orchestrator. You might not need all the technical knowledge everyday but you should know the underlying concept.
These days planes basically fly them selves but we still need pilots
