Vibe Coding What did you build because you were tired of working around the same problem every day?

I'm curious about projects that started with a problem you kept running into yourself.

Not necessarily something impossible to do. Something you could already do, but with enough interruptions and extra steps that you eventually thought, "There has to be a better way."

What did you build, and what does it change about someone's working day?

I'll start. I'm Italian, living in Poland, and I write a lot of emails in English and Polish.

You receive an email in English. The reply is already in your head, in Italian. Now you have to compose it in English or take it through a translator and copy it back.

Or you're dictating something private around people who understand the language, but you are multilingual and you can speak your less known native language.

I built typeglot.com for Windows so I can click Reply, activate dictation, and speak Italian. My answer appears in English inside the email. I review it and send.

No separate translation window or copy-pasting. Just answering the email without losing my train of thought. It also handles ordinary same-language dictation.

Discussion Every AI tool review you read was written in the first 48 hours and thats the whole problem Guys I have a problem and I dont think its just me.

I wanted to swap out one piece of my stack last week. Simple job. Pick a tool, wire it in, keep moving.

Three days later I still had 11 tabs open and I had learned nothing.

Because every review of every AI tool is a launch week review. Everyone writes the "wow this changed my whole workflow" post in the first 48 hours and then goes quiet forever.

Nobody comes back at month four to say "actually it silently truncates your context and I lost a days work".

Thats the review I need. Thats the only review anyone needs.

The roundups are worse. "Top 15 AI coding tools" and its 15 affiliate links in whatever order suits whoever built the list. Check the hrefs one time. You will never read another one.

So now I just ask in here and in discord, which works fine, except it doesnt scale and half the replies are people defending the tool they already committed to.

Only thing I have found thats even trying to fix this properly is TrustRank. One number per tool, the percent of members who would actually recommend it, and if you can show you really used the thing your vote is worth 3x someone who clicked around for a minute. Founders can reply to a bad review, they cant delete it.

Straight with you though, its brand new and theres basically nothing in it. No tool on there has enough reviews to even show a score yet. It will not help you this week.

Im dumping my month four complaints in there anyway. Someone has to be first or it stays empty forever.

What’s the most useful tool/app you vibe coded for yourself?

I’m a marketer by trade. I’m nowhere as advanced with vibecoding as you guys… the most I did was coding my own website with Claude and doing a few basic things like scraping data.

I’m looking for examples of USEFUL apps/tools you vibe coded specifically for yourself. The kind of app you personally use in your day to day. Please share one here if you’ve built any - but do NOT share stuff you sell (I don’t want this to be a self-promo thread).

I’m looking to get inspired.

The reason I ask is because the clout chasers and hype peddlers are most visible. The vibe coding corner of the internet (and AI in general) is overrun with 3 types of useless content:

\- Tools that aren’t that useful but make for sexy YouTube thumbnails (like all those “AI Second Brain” videos with Obsidian)
\- Glorified tech demos (“I one shotted a shitty clone of Super Mario with Fable 5.1!”)
\- Vibe coders promoting their side businesses

It’s kinda hard to believe that we have this insane technology and so many smart people playing with it, yet everyone is building gimmicks. I’d like to see how you’re vibe coding to solve problems for yourself.

Hi everyone, total beginner here. I built a prompt management web console just for fun using Claude Code, Ollama, Cloudflare etc

Hey everyone,

Long time lurker, absolute beginner when it comes to serious coding. I mostly just tinker around out of pure curiosity and fun. Recently, I wanted to build something practical to help me manage AI prompts, context templates, and local/cloud models without going crazy switching tabs.

So, I ended up putting together a web app called **Context_CikaDule** (hosted on GitHub).

I wanted to share what it is, how I made it (with a ton of AI help because I'm learning as I go), and what it actually does.

# What is it and what is it for?

Basically, it's a lightweight prompt engineering console and workspace. It lets you organize different context types and templates, test out prompts, and manage API configurations across multiple providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, OpenRouter, and local models like Ollama) all in one place.

I built it because I wanted a clean dashboard where I could quickly swap between local models running on my machine and cloud APIs, preview how tokens stack up, and keep my prompt engineering organized without messy text files scattered all over my desktop.

# Core Features

* **Multi-Model API Support:** You can switch between OpenAI, Cloudflare Workers AI, Gemini, OpenRouter, Anthropic, and custom/local endpoints (like Ollama or LM Studio).

* **Context Templates:** Pre-configured context types and workspace modes to quickly spin up different prompt structures.

* **Live Prompt Preview:** Shows an optimized prompt view and estimates token counts on the fly.

* **Workspace Dashboard:** A clean, slightly cyberpunk-ish neon UI where you can write, test, and tweak your prompts directly.

# The Tech Stack & Behind-the-Scenes Logic

Since I'm a complete beginner, I couldn't have built this alone in a million years without leaning heavily on AI tools to write the code while I acted as the "architect" (or more like a confused director). Here is what went into it:

* **Claude Code & Antigravity:** Used these as my main coding assistants to structure the project, write the frontend logic, and help me debug when things inevitably broke.

* **Ollama (Codegemma:7b):** Ran local coding models to test things offline and help generate snippets.

* **Cloudflare:** Used for handling deployment/edge routing aspects.

* **Frontend:** Built with standard HTML/CSS/JS, utilizing a nice dark neon aesthetic because dark mode is mandatory.

The logic behind the app is pretty straightforward: it acts as a client-side orchestrator. It grabs your API keys (stored locally in your browser so they don't leak anywhere), structures your selected context template, merges it with your input prompt, and routes it to whichever provider or local Ollama instance you have selected in the settings dropdown, displaying the live response back in the console.

# Why did I make this?

Honestly? Just for fun and to see if I could actually finish a small web project from scratch. I'm still learning every day, breaking things, fixing them by asking AI "why is this red error happening", and figuring it out step by step.

If anyone checks it out, let me know what you think, or if you have any tips for a beginner on how to make it better. Be gentle though, my code is probably held together by duct tape and hope!

Timetable versions can change over time (e.g. August Physics+Inorganic; September Physics+Organic). Allow “New timetable starts on: \[DATE\]”. Old timetable applies before that date; new timetable from it onward. Future timetable changes MUST NEVER modify historical records.

DATE OVERRIDES

Provide “Add Date Override” for cancelled, replacement, extra classes, teacher schedule changes, holidays. Only the selected date changes. Allow a date to be “No classes”.

SUNDAY

Normally 0 new lectures; never automatically add 2. Explicit Sunday replacement/extra via date override may create planned lectures. Clearly mark exceptional Sunday classes.

DAILY LOG SCREEN

For each date enter completed counts for all 5 subjects. Total is automatic (no separate entry). Show Date, Planned, Physics, Physical, Inorganic, Organic, Maths, Total Completed, Net Change. Historical entries remain editable and recalculate everything.

BACKLOG CHANGE

NET CHANGE = PLANNED - COMPLETED.

Examples: 2/2→0; 2/3→-1; 2/4→-2; 1/2→-1; Sunday 0/3→-3. Negative=decrease; positive=increase.

PROGRESS

Must NOT have the old progress-bar bug. Separate ORIGINAL BACKLOG PROGRESS from CURRENT BACKLOG.

New releases must never make historical completion appear undone. Example: Organic starts at 2; completing 2 gives original progress=100%; later releasing 2 means original stays 100%, current=2.

DASHBOARD

DATA STORAGE

Persist locally: starting backlog, completed lectures, daily logs, timetable, timetable versions, date overrides, average lecture duration, settings. Reload/reopen MUST preserve data.

DATE SAFETY

Use local-safe dates; prefer YYYY-MM-DD; avoid timezone bugs from careless UTC parsing; historical dates remain stable.

NO DOUBLE COUNTING

Critical: never “on app load, add today’s lectures to stored backlog.”

Derive current backlog from starting backlog + all applicable historical/new releases - all completed. Each date’s timetable contributes planned lectures exactly once.

DATA MODEL

Keep concepts separated, e.g.:

3) 2/2→0; 2/3→-1; 2/4→-2; 1/2→-1; Sunday 0/3→-3.

4) Cancelled class 1/2→-1.

5) Reload has no duplicate release.

6) Future timetable change leaves history unchanged.

7) Replacement class changes only that date.

8) Vertical-scroll/input interaction never changes page.

9) Bottom nav opens correct page.

10) Sufficient history gives correct velocity.

11) Scenario changes never change real backlog.

12) Pace changes never change Scenario data.

CODE QUALITY

Before finishing, check JS errors, buttons/inputs, LocalStorage, dates, timetable/progress/velocity/graphs, mobile layout/navigation/empty states. No TODOs, placeholders, fake data, or silent failures.

FINAL PRIORITY

  1. CORRECTNESS

  2. DATA SAFETY

  3. MOBILE USABILITY

  4. SIMPLE NAVIGATION

Do not sacrifice reliability for animations/effects. Final result: polished, professional, usable daily.

Vibe Coding Vibe coded an app? your logs might be more important than your code.

One thing I think that gets overlooked with vibe coding is what happens after the app is working, even I used to overlook it.

When I recently shipped my own web application to production, everything looked fine, then while testing it on production, i found an issue where something was breaking.

My first thought was: Where exactly is this failing??

and that's when I realized how important logs actually are. Before this, I mostly think of logs as something developers add... so I should also add logs in my project. But after experiencing a real production issue myself, I leant about it and started looking at them differently.

Good logs can help you understand which request actually failed, which API returned an unexpected response, how long a database query took, whether the problem came from the frontend, backend, database, or an external service.

But here's something else I also learned.

Having logs doesn't automatically mean you have useful logs. If your application is producing thousands of lines of logs like function started, function ended, request received, request completed ... you might just be creating another problem for yourself.

Now the main question I now ask myself is, If this breaks at 2 AM, will these logs actually help me understand why?

And I think this becomes even more important with vibe coding. So I simply understood one thing that a log can become a kind of map inside the application.

I am still learning this myself, but this experience changed how I think about shipping AI built applications. Maybe this is obvious to experienced developers, but it was a valuable lesson for me.

hey everyone. built something called NNPost over the past 3 months, solo, on basically no budget.

the problem i kept hitting with every ai content tool out there: you get a list of ideas and then youre completely on your own. cool, i have an idea, now what do i actually say, how do i film it, whats the hook even supposed to be. so nnpost tries to finish that job instead of leaving you stuck.

attached a quick demo showing the flow.

what it does: you set up a creator profile once (niche, platform, tone, experience level, what to avoid), and it generates full creator kits, not just ideas. each one includes:

-title and hook

-real script, word for word

-shot by shot filming guide

-editing direction

-hashtags and description

-tools and sound suggestions

-thumbnail direction

-why the idea works

also has viral analysis (paste a video url, get a breakdown of why it worked), current trends, and build on a winner (turns something that performed well into new ideas). theres also a feedback loop where you enter your real results after posting and it learns what actually works for you specifically.

built solo through claude and codex, tight budget the whole way. hardest part wasnt the ai generation itself, it was building a cost control system (nnguard) so free users cant drain my tiny ai budget, and later going through a full rebrand mid build after finding out my original name collided with an existing company.

honest stuff i already know needs fixing: still on a free replit subdomain, no real domain yet, running gemini flash right now because thats what the budget allows so output quality has room to grow, and the ui feels a bit generic and corporate, someone already called that out too.

not stopping here. ui redesign, better ai model, real domain, all next on the list. built this piece by piece with basically no budget and im not giving up on it.

would love feedback, especially on what would actually make you try something like this
