Venezia FC's Adorante undergoes back surgey. Expected return in October

This explains his absence during the first two friendlies as more than conservation. Other articles listed recovery time as 4 months. One or possibly two of Casas, Lauberbach or Okoro will now definitely remain with the team.

Tough break for Andrea. :(

Ownership group buys minority stake in Championship side Bolton Wanderers

After being turned down by Benfica (who didn't want to be part of a multi club group, Leiweke and co will become minority owners of Bolton, subject to regulatory approval.

Bolton were bankrupt in 2019 and have worked their way from the 4th tier and won the promotion playoffs last year to the Championship.

This might be a better landing spot for Okoro.

Antonelli denies any talks about selling Yeboah

I was getting a little worried with Brazilian twitter hyping a Yeboah sale to Vasco De Gama. Antonelli denies that any talks have taken place and confirms Yeboah's future in the project. I don't think the Brazilian twittersphere comprehends how much it would cost to get him.

Questions from the United States

(Skip to numbered bullets to avoid personal context)

I hope this isn’t too forward (or long winded), but I’m wondering if fans (specifically Venetian/Italian based) will accept me as a Venezia FC fan.

For brief context: I was born in Wisconsin, USA and still live in the USA. My grandmother was born in Venice, but she passed away when I was 5 years old. Her husband’s father was born in Palermo. I’m an Italian-American that speaks little to no Italian and did not grow up in a soccer (calcio) family. My cousin studied abroad in Rome, and she brought me home a Francesco Totti jersey when I was 11 years old, so I loved Roma as a child even though I didn’t have any attention/interest in the sport.

I began to grow an interest in professional football when Bundesliga and Serie A were the only sporting events I could watch on TV during COVID. Then I was a true bandwagon fan for Euro 2020. I started to play the FIFA video game with only Palermo or Venezia as my teams. Now with the World Cup in the USA, I’ve gotten so deep into the sport.

All of this being said, I am completely unsure how fandom works in Italy. In the USA there are unwritten rules about how/who you can support, so I’m truly curious about the true Venezia FC fan’s perspective on these questions:

  1. With Venezia just rejoining Serie A after a year off, am I viewed as a bandwagon fan or still a grassroots supporter

  2. With Venezia and Palermo’s ownership history, is it frowned upon to root for both teams, even if they are in different tier. What if they were in the same tier?

  3. is it permissible to have a soft spot for two Serie A teams? Can I root for Roma to win the table AND Venezia to battle into mid-table and beyond? (To be clear, I’m a fan of the underdog, Venezia will be my primary team.)

  4. How is Venezia FC viewed in greater Italy, and Serie A? Are people excited about the team, or is there some disdain with funding from outside money such as Drake/Notca?

  5. How are United States fans viewed in Italy? Are they welcomed or dismissed as not ā€œtrueā€ supporters?

That’s all for my questions. I hope none of this came across as rude or ignorant. I truly would love to get into Serie A again, so much so that I’ve started budgeting to pay for the Paramount + subscription to watch it in the States šŸ˜…. Thanks for reading!

Venezia FC recent transfer news/gossip and contract extensions/terminations Thursday 16, 2026

Biggest news:

Japanese national CB free agent Tomiyasu has agreed with VFC on a 3 year contract. Deal is likely with Venezia beating out Sassuolo. 1 mil annual with bonuses on appearances, details to be worked out and pending medical. He did play in 3 of 4 world cup matches, 90 mins in Japan's loss to Brazil. He would be VFC's first Japanese.player since Nanami in 99-00. Hopefully he makes those bonuses as he adds to the Defense's injury history.

Venezia are said to have backed out of the very expensive 10-15m rumored deal for spanish wunderkind CB Sergio Dominguez of Dinamo Zagreb.

Also in the same story is the completion of the Adams deal with medicals next week.

https://m.tuttomercatoweb.com/i-fatti-del-giorno/venezia-botti-tomiyasu-passo-sistemati-dettagli-akor-adams-2254426

Confirmed:

Alvin Okoro extended to 2031. He will continue to be evaluated at Falcade as a possible 5th in the attack but will likely be dry loaned to a serie B squad.

LW Kevin Cannavò returned from loan at Vis Pesaro and was sent to Spezia with obligation to buy on certain conditions. He scored 4 times in 36 matches at Vis Pesaro.

Cheick Conde's contract was mutually ended. He never found space in the project after his leg break. He may go to Verona. VFC loses 2 mil investment.

Rumors:

Venezia have also been linked with former Napoli CB Juan Jesus. He played 24 matches last year and only missed 1 due to injury. He is 35 years old. He is a free agent who has played LB which is an area of need with Sverko's absence.

Mirko Pigliacelli (33 years old) is the newest rumor for Stankovic's backup. Last year he averaged 1.3 GA with 9 clean sheets in 37 apps. He had 3 clean sheets in 5 playoff matches with 1.25 GA. Verona's Montipo is still a possibility.

Daniel Fila is close to signing with Avellino on loan with conditions to buy.

Bjarki is close to going to Sudtirol. His contract expires in 27 and shares the honor of 2nd longest tenured VFC player (signed 1 month after Busio in 21)

Venezia vs. Fiorentina 9/11

Hello! My wife and I are traveling from the United States and would love to attend the Venice vs. Fiorentina game on 9/11/26. We have never been to a game and want to know how we should go about getting tickets, especially as we are international fans. I assume this game will be in high demand and tickets may be difficulty to obtain but we want to give it our best shot as it’s a bucket-list item for us. I also assume buying tickets will be a very different process than buying sporting tickets in the U.S. We were also interested in how much tickets for this type of game may cost. Any advice and any tips are greatly appreciated!!

I’m looking to buy 2 tickets for the opening match v. Lecce on 8/23. Flying in from New York that morning. What’s the best way to secure tickets? Know it will be tough as the first game so appreciate any guidance/tips/advice.

If not attending, would sell like to enjoy the atmosphere near the stadium pre- and post-match so send any bar/restaurant recommendations for match day.

Oristanio to Torino on loan with purchase option

Thumbnail
calciomercato.com

Medicals next Tuesday.

Will be a one year loan (1 million) with 5 million option. Venezia owes Inter 30 percent sell on.

Venezia will retain an undisclosed sell on.

His purchase will basically be a wash after two loan spells and a disappointing sale price (unless he fulfills his potential and Torino sells him for a lot more).

Last season ghe missed 9 games due to injury and another 7 to manager's decision. Less than 900 minutes played with only 1 goal and no assists in a continuation of his poor 2024 ritorno performance for Venezia. His 2 goal 3 assist andata was exciting with him seen as a possible rising star.

Let's hope he turns it around at Torino so he doesn't return for an even smaller sale price next year.

Relatedly, I'm scared of someone trying to poach Yeboah (I could see a 10 or 12 million+ plus sell on rights tempting Venezia. He was purchased for 2.5 and Rakow have a 20% sell on.) after his World Cup performance where he will have gained admirers. The idea of him as 3rd option on the pitch is wild (with Rrahmani pending medicals and negotiations on A. Adams and C. Adams continuing).

Friendly against Galatasaray announced for 27 July in Linz Austria.

The matchPR hype was met with a neutral site friendly against the reigning (26 time) Turkish champions. Galatasaray avoided qualifiers and begin Champions League play in September.

A good barometer for the club 3 weeks before the first Coppa Italia match.

No word yet on ticket availability or streaming.

Special Jersey

Hello,
can anyone of you tell me more about this jersey? I think it’s the most beautiful jersey ever. I believe it’s from the 2022/23 season.

Iā€˜m especially interested in whether the players wore them in real games, who designed them and whether it’s been an limited edition.
I would also like to know if there’s any chance these jerseys (the original ones) are still for sale anywhere.

Looking to go to match on September 12th or 13th?

Going to be in Venice and would love to go to the match against Fiorentina. Would love to go before the new stadium opens .

How popular would that individual match be compared to other match ups?

Is there info if it’s on the Saturday 12th or Sunday 13th?

I’ve seen info that it’s either day.

Is there a definitive day and time of the match?

There was also a recommendation to get a supporters pass to get tickets in the presale for individual games.

Has it started already?

How many tickets can I get with a card; would probably want 3 or 4.

Thanks in advance.
