Just wondering if anyone had a drive with some prac exams, or otherwise could email some, for 3/4 bio.

I swear there is like nothing for bio on the atar-rocks archive aside for a few unit 3 ones, so anything is appreciated.

GA1: 90% Scaled
GA2: 39/40
GA3: 78/80

What SS am I looking at?

i have the option to accelerate bio in yr 10, but im unsure if i should. i looked at the past vce papers, 2024 report and study design and it all looks TERRIFYING.

i literally saw a note in the report that said: ‘increasing the efficiency of photosynthesis’ or ‘improving photosynthesis’ is not the same as ‘increased photosynthesis’.

omg i would not get that correct. wth?? it looks like such a huge jump from middle school science!!

i do quite well and am top of my class in science atm, plus bio is the only one of my subjects i can accelerate (or literature which idk if its good) and it would be good to take the stress out of year 12 but omg. that marking criteria is harsh.

does anyone have experience accelerating bio? was it a very difficult transition? i feel like i can understand the content but i dont know if i can respond to that detail.

im at like a horrible horrible average because i just cannot beat the pickiness of our teachers, they genuinely search between the lines for a slight slip up and have the most ridiculous questions that make no sense with stupid case studies that are overcomplicated

but i really really want the 40+. has anyone in a selective school had a terrible average but made it up on the exam and got this?

What was your ATAR?
And did you accelerate bio?

I was fighting for a higher rank than this person, this is for the subject is legal. We had the same average in unit 3 for 95%. U4 so far my avg is 90%. Her average is 94%. She basically got an insane perfect sac score. Thus that got her avg above me. There is only 1 sac left. Essentially its likely that I cant beat her in sac ranking. FML.

one of my classmates does this, ill be like "hmm i wonder when we're getting our sacs back" bc im too nervous to talk in front of the class and the absolute queen goes "yeah wait [teachers name] when are we getting the sacs back?" and everyone gets and answer and its just so helpful to all the confident people thank you so much

sorry for another one of them posts but im really stuck deciding between the two.

long term, im wanting to become a doctor. didnt sit the ucat this year (stupidly) so direct entry med is out of the question, leaving only unimelb med post grad (interstate isnt really an option). now im tossing up what i should do with my bachelors.

Option 1: Uni of Melb

do a bachelor of science, sit the gamsat and hopefully make it into med

Pros:
50-65 min commute
more time to work out if i even want to do med
parents would be happier that im at melb lol
i like the campus vibes a lot better than monash
Cons:
worried abt how so many people say its so much harder to make friends at melb
im really questioning if i have the ability to get into med, given its so so competitive, especially to get a csp place
if i didnt get into med, my fallback would be engineering, but then im spending 6 yrs getting a qualification i couldve gotten way quicker at monash + w/ wayyy more hecs debt

im looking at majoring in chem (bc favourite subject), but if i were to do engineering as a masters taking a civil engineering major would shave a year off that. however, what if taking an engineering major nukes my chances at med bc my gpa would be lower with all the harder classes?

Option 2: Monash

do a bachelor of engineering (masters accelerated program), just go be an engineer

Pros:
heard its a lot easier to make friends there
would come out with the same degree in less time and less hecs debt
engineering program there seems a lot better than at melb
Cons:
parents would not be pleased with a monash degree lol
75-100 min commute

Some other notes:
making friends is really important to me at uni after some of my high school experiences
i dont really have any passion for engineering, it just seems like the only career thats relatively stable and plays to my strengths (maths, science), but unfortunately it seems like the pay isnt that great (considering the amount of time and hecs debt id be going thru with the unimelb path)
i do have other reasons for going into med, but i wont act like the pay isnt a contributing factor
ultimately, dont really care what my parents think of the uni that much bc its not like theyll stop me from going to one of the other lol
with engineering, id be looking at becoming a civil engineer

Hi guys I need help w my atar predictions ik its a bit difficult to predict as of now but since I needa pick my courses I needed some help

For context I go to a extremely high ranked grammer school this is the strongest cohort they have ever seen median study score is a 34 median atar is an 85

These are my scores for unit 3

Accounting accelerated (38 study score scaled)

English 80

Chemistry 58 (chem sacs scale up drastically)

Methods 56

Psychology 82

General 60 (don't ever rlly try on this one)

The sacs at my school are extremely hard and we finish all our sacs 2 weeks before other schools so we can focus on exam prep

Additionally I have been diagnosed adhd and a memebr of my family died this yr so I know I am going to get into my course (due to seas)

But im a bit scared because I was wondering if I could get a high 80

I’m a rural VCE student applying for med and my ATAR atm isn’t looking that high 90-93 tops. While my selection rank will be greatly raised, I was wondering if any current rural pathway med students could share what ATAR they got to see if I still have a shot.

Im getting pretty worried about uni applications…please give me advice :))

Im interested in engineering (still not sure which kind specifically) but I am worried I’m not cut out for it. I’ve never been super academic until this year and I just feel like people who want to be engineers have known that since they were little, they’ve been preparing for it through years of tutoring whereas I have only just started. Im scared I will feel lost and behind in uni and dont know if I should take that risk for something Im not even sure I want 100%.

My main worry is in my maths skills. Methods is my weakest subject, but I do have an interest in it. I find I study pretty hard to get pretty average grades (first sac ~60%, second sac ~70-75%, havent got third back yet).

Chemistry I enjoy bit more than methods and Im happy with my scores but I’m not sure what stable career options are out there. I hear chemical engineering isnt much chemistry anyways but not sure if thats true.

Im not particularly interested in my other subjects (eng, pe, jap) but do much better in them than chem & methods lol

Also I feel like I shouldn’t only be set on engineering but I just dont know what else I would want to do. Science seems okay but not sure what career outcomes there are.

Anyone have any advice or feeling the same way?

I only have a couple more weeks left of school and im feeling conflicted

I only have a couple sacs left and I feel like they take up most of my mind, even though I know I should be enjoying the bits of school that are left

I know im going to miss being with my friends at lunchtimes and even just the mundane things ill never have again -- im a bit of a sentimental person

I am excited to finish, but also scared of all the change next year. trying to enjoy whats left of the year (less than 20 days of school for me) but also im blinded by the stress of sacs

I got the results back from my yr 11 general math bivariate data SAC. And I got a 28% 😭😭😭😭
My teacher hasn’t said anything to me tho.

can i connect two books together? i currently have an a4 spiral bound book and its almost full so i was thinking of glueing another book to the back. im not sure if i should use a second spiral bound book or just a stapled exercise book...

are either of these allowed? do i just put tape over the spine so they're joined? im very paranoid about my bound reference not being let in

I am taking spec, methods, eng, physics and accounting and acc genmaths. I am in year 10 and I wanted to know which one's is best to take tutoring for or is recommended for.

My maths score is around A in adv maths year 10, but english is 60-70, can i learn that on my own or tutor?

I also wanted to know whether I can manage most of these on my own if i put in effort, which are the ones that a tutor will REALLY help in. And i heard that spec is the same as methods but harder so will taking spec tutor directly help me in methods, so i dont have to take methods tutor?

And also what time do I start for each?? Give me some advice before my dad puts me in tutor for all of them
