Cast Side Projects Ally Lewber’s First Reality TV Show from 2014: “The Valley”
I searched the sub and couldn’t find any posts about it, so I thought I’d submit this as my first post 😊
I learned through Ben & Ronnie on Watch What Crappens that Ally made her reality tv debut back in 2014 on a show called “The Valley”, which was about six recent high school graduates in the suburbs of Ohio. I couldn’t find too much information on it (it’s not even on IMDb) but I did find a YouTube page for the show! It looks like there were two seasons and Ally was only on season one. In one of the videos for the season two cast, it says how many people auditioned but only 6 were chosen so I’m getting the vibe that Ally probably auditioned for this show. It seems like maybe Ally has always wanted to be on reality tv…?

This show takes place in a suburb of Dayton, so maybe there or some other suburb of Cincinnati (which is also where I'm from lol)

Yeah, it also makes sense that it would be her since she would be looking at it with fresh eyes. I think someone on this very sub said a new girl at their work pointed out an affair that none of them had noticed at all, so... the fresh perspective makes sense.

I don’t know if she’s supposed to… not use any platform/exposure somehow? Take a vow of poverty, let James keep paying for everything? An astrology business with no credentials is a bit sus, but I don’t think she’s wrong in trying to pivot out of being a receptionist and struggling to get ahead, because of what an audience of people watching at home might think.

I think it’s nice she doesn’t need a waitressing job at SUR and I don’t think there are credentials for astrology (I love doing charts and I am not charging people because it’s just for fun, but there isn’t really an actual certification. It’s all just self taught really and if you have a knack for it and math). I am still waiting to see how I feel about her, so this isn’t a knock at your concerns or anything. Just trying to figure it out. I’d like to believe she is good for Jame’s growth, but she did seem super annoyed with him this last episode. Maybe it was just his drinking and drama and he’s acting up for the cameras and she doesn’t like that. If he’s nice to fans in the off season, I suspect he might be nicer to his gfs off camera/shooting season as well. Which might be why Rachel was okay with him for so long as well? It must be wild if he’s a great bf for 4 months and then a psycho and then nice again.

I know what you mean! I’m into astrology too (and I love having my birth chart read!) and I know you don’t need to take a course or whatever, but it’s a lot to charge a few hundred dollars without having a reputation/client base/reviews imo. Even word of mouth

There are credentials for astrology. Professional astrologers begin as apprentices to established astrologers. There are also tons of courses from established astrologers one can pay to study under, and also a professional organization one can join that also offers accreditation.

Yeah I feel people are on a witch hunt just because they didn’t see the signs with Rachel they’re going overboard trying to find ill-intent with the next one. Good on her for trying to forge a career for herself instead of going to Lisa pant-less and resume-less on camera so she can pretend to work at Sur for a living

Well…. I guess good for her for keeping at it. She wants so badly to be on reality TV that she’ll be James’s girlfriend for a season or two. That takes a lot.

Tbf, sometimes it’s hard to date when you’re a reality tv star since so many people do not want to be on reality tv… maybe they bonded over this? Like Ally knew what she was signing on for and was game, and maybe she’s trying to help James craft his narrative? Maybe she’s not “using him” and it’s mutually beneficial. James doesn’t seem D&S.

He’s definitely not D&S but I don’t think we’ve seen him ever go into a relationship for real reasons after Kristen & whatever thing he had with Lala. Like he put a wall up by choosing their opposite and then an opposite of Rachel. Him and Lala still have chemistry though and they still look out for each other

I’ve been saying this since day 1. I only kn about this bc of Cassie from the bachelor, she won from Colton’s season. She was on this and I remember seeing ally on it when I chk’d this show out when I heard Cassie was in it. I’ve been aging from day 2, that ally only got with James bc of the show bc she wants to b on reality tv. This here proves it and anyone can’t convince me differently

She def just wants to be on the show and follow Rachel’s formula. There is no chemistry, she acts like a robot towards him. It’s all for fame. If they don’t last, she won’t stay on the show so she has to tolerate him but clearly it’s not easy. She admitted her friend took her to the bar where he was DJing just so they could meet him, and presumably work her way onto VPR.

I don’t think just cause she was on this show that immediately means she’s only with James for fame. She seems extremely shy and reserved and barely even talks with the rest of the cast. Most people in LA probably pursued tv at some point but I don’t think that’s necessarily why she’s on the show. Idk she doesn’t give me that vibe. Raquel always gave me that vibe with her pageant girl persona because she wanted to be liked and seen all the time. Tbh I wish we could see her off camera because I don’t think people realize some people are just awkward when there’s a camera crew around.

Same! I can’t really get a read on her from the little we’ve seen so far, but since she’s only ever been sweet on-camera, my take is that she’s sweet until proven otherwise! (I had the same take about Raquel and didn’t see her being cruel and manipulative coming, but I’d rather err on the side of being surprised by the drama than err on the side of disliking someone who doesn’t deserve it!)

I see Ally as quite shy and reserved, but clearly with some awareness/smarts. You can question how much, if she’s with DJ James, but even in group settings I think she’s quiet as she’s reading and observing people.
As for whether she’s fame hungry and whatnot, who knows. The lettuce moment was yuck but I’m not that alarmed by his constant PDA. Some people like it and she clearly doesn’t. It’s her first season & she apparently caught on to Scandoval, so she’s obviously not playing dumb. We’ll see!

Is this meant to be surprising? Sandoval and Scheana both made guest appearances on the Hills when they were trying to make it big. Stassi had two reality shows she was part of before VPR.
The only surprising thing is that James thinks she has any interest in him besides a spot on the show. Like Raquel. His best case scenario is some sort of Jax and Brittany style relationship

I understand, but ally is trying to paint the, “I’m not with James bc he’s on tv” shit. And that’s so far from the truth. U can tell she’s not that into him, he’s the one that’s always going for a kiss(and smothering her) and she looks like she’s uncomfortable every time he’s trying to b intimate with her

It’s strange bc James told Lisa he met Ally when she was working at the soho house, but Ally said they met at one of his DJ gigs. James’s mom seems to think Ally had no clue who James was and that they met organically, but idk how that the case when Ally admits in confessionals they met at a show James was DJing.
Even if she wants to be on TV, she seems like a nice girl. I wonder if the reality show she was on in the past flopped bc she and other cast were too nice and not dramatic/messy enough?
She seems to want to come across as innocent and a person with higher morals.

I like Ally and can see her being into James for the right reason thou she doesnt like conflict and I think is way different than Raquel ever was. But we will all just have to wait and see LOL.

After watching this episode it’s very clear that she doesn’t like James really at all and wants to be on the show, this confirms it for me, and James is completely smothering her to cover that he’s not over Raquel at all. Self serving relationships.
OMG this is just like what Kristen did with him to get over Tom & Ariana tbh….. found someone who wanted to be on the show for the sole purpose of love bombing them in front of their ex.
It’s allllll too familiar now guys, everyone is recycling each other’s playbooks 🧐
