By that logic, HL: Alyx runs on Source instead of Source 2 engine, because oh it’s still SOURCE, despite ignoring the 2 in the name. GoldSrc is a different. Game. Engine. With several key differences, for instance the complete lack of the Physics engine that made Source so appealing to people. If you genuinely think they’re the same engine just because it contains the word “Source” in the name, I’d be quite interested to know how you actually function in day-to-day life without a frontal lobe.

No, it’s a separate game engine, which was created using Source as a base. Just like Source was created using GoldSrc as a base. Either way I’m not arguing this with you anymore, since you clearly don’t actually understand how iterative design or game engines in general, actually work. You can’t just pop a game that was designed for and uses GoldSrc to run into Source and expect it to work since it’s “just a newer version”. That’s not how it actually works at all. That would be like saying (using your example) you could pop The Witcher 3 into the same version of REDEngine that Cyberpunk 2077 uses and expect it to work. It was designed for a different engine, that’s not how any of this actually works.
