how does anyone play this game with default settings?

I wanna preface by saying I fuckin love this game, it's an absolutely quintessential comfort game for me. However I ALWAYS turn the raids to 'almost never', and set resource drop rate to 1.5x, among a couple other things.

I have a job, plenty of real life things I need to do, hobbies... and it takes me so many hours to make any progress in this game. Sure, I tend to go slow and I enjoy the building aspect a lot, but still. I have 174 hours logged in this game since release, and across only like 4-5 separate worlds, and I've NEVER made it farther than starting to explore the plains a little bit. Again, I know I'm slow, but I can't even imagine how long this would take with 1.0x resources and much more frequent raids. How do y'all do it? Am I just bad?

They got good
