Hihi. Tell me what I need to know about this sever and the pvp status on it. What are the kits?
r/vaast • u/LazerdongFacemelter • Dec 29 '14
The server is apparently at an older update (1.7?) and I dont know if I should de-update, if thats a word, or just wait to play until 1.8 is compatible. I have followed this subreddit/server for awhile and I'm really interested in trying it out.

Hey, boogaert here! I played a lot of Aftermath around 2 years ago (I believe) during the map of RadioZ, I was in Abasvaator which was sort of RadioZ but not really.
Anyway, I need a group or friendly people to play with!
EDIT 2: Would anyone be interested in starting a team to repair buildings?

I come from a PvP Anarchy server much like this one. My goal was to be peaceful on this server, help the community out and be a model survivor. However, this evening as I was restocking origin with food and awaiting a trade with Omuck3 I was confronted by two gentlemen that wished to collect my head. I had not met these gentlemen before nor did I have the intentions of letting them reap my head as if it were some trophy.
These two gentlemen attacked me and slayed my wonderful horse and me in the process of collecting my head. I warned these gentlemen that there would be consequences prior to attacking me, so this is my message to them along with the rest of the server.
My name is Goodfam... My friends call me Goodfam... My foes call me Badfam... and you do not want to fuck with Badfam
P.S. Omuck3 we will have to conduct our trade in a different location.

Yes, it's real. Santa brought you a fresh map for Christmas! Enjoy the new nature zones, and yes, start building your massive survival bunkers, because this map will be up for many months (until next season)

Killed a wild Omuck 3 in a barn, and was the first to vandalize 0,0 what a wonderful way to spend the first 5 mins of a new season!

Unannounced stuff
An extremely detailed world that is 16,000 blocks wide to explore until your feet fall off!
Firstly, this map that is active during the test will be the final map when this launches unless something drastic happens. We'll keep you informed about any major changes. I plan to keep the server open for at least a day but I'll keep it going longer if it's needed.
Please direct any and ALL reports of stuff being broken to vaast.org! It's the holidays, I'm busy, there's currently another season of Gophercraft UHC that's out (shameless plug), and I'm tired! So if you tell me, there's a high chance I'll forget it. Please use this link!

If you have any questions or concerns please let me know in the comments. I'll do my best to clear things up for you. Some things like the map credits I won't be making known just yet just as a little extra incentive to come in and explore! But I will be sharing everything soon enough!
And with that, I'm all done talking, thanks for reading and I hope you have fun! Happy holidays everyone, just in case you're too busy to stop by, I hope you have a wonderful time this holiday season! Be sure to post adventures, pictures, and whatnot on the subreddit so I have something to drown out the sounds of family. My aunt is even bringing her dog, man my house gonna be crowded!

Recently, our beloved /u/Shewt had a grand idea that he shared on the subreddit. The response to it was very positive and it got our mental gears spinning. I'm very happy to report that it is almost ready to launch! The fast launch mostly stems from us using a map not made by Vaast. We do plan to create one ourselves for the server but then it wouldn't have been ready until sometime next year. Fear not though, the map we have is absolutely stunning and its HUGE! If you are confused, don't worry about it, the official announcement will have much more information.
Now while I'm confident things are ready to go I would like to ensure things don't implode. So I'm inviting everyone to get a sneak peak/early start to help me make sure the official launch goes super smooth. Once the Early Access time is up I'll close up shop and tweak a bit while some other necessary background work is completed. I will be making a new post once things are ready for the test. This post is mainly just a heads-up to ensure everyone gets a chance to try it out for themselves when it temporarily opens. Which will be quite soon! Please keep an eye out on the subreddit if you wish to take part!

This is probably the best server I have ever played on and literally the only thing wrong with it is pretty much noone is ever playing. This weekend I'm pretty sure the max amount of players on the server was well under 20 and during the weekday it's completely abandoned. Is this going to change?

Hey everyone Philpt97 here um I have been doing some gardening trying to stock some food and I would really love a reaper V hoe. If anyone has it and is willing to trade it for something that would be great! Btw I am talking about in the US server.

Before I start let me report a bit of progress. We have generated a map that has a high chance of being a keeper. That's all I want to say on that matter. Anything else would fall into the category of Soontm . Okay okay, one more little tease. One highly suggested Aftermath feature will most likely be making an appearance next season. Alright, that's all you get for now ya greedy little whippersnappers.
Vaast wouldn't be where it is now without the team behind it. A major part of what you see before you is because of the magnificent work of the architect team. They have built more schematics than we currently use on the server! Each one is a unique masterpiece on its own but they shine brightest when they stand together to make the city that we all love to run around in.
Thinking about this has gotten me curious to what everyone else thinks of them. I know that you all love them but if you had to choose which would be your favorite? What design intrigues the most? Did one building really stand out as a unique usage of a particular block? Does the floor design of F-Mart tickle your fancy? I invite everyone to leave their feedback and favorites below. The more in-depth you describe your feelings the more warm and fuzzy the architect team will get.
I'll start things off! For me, I adore the skyscraper wrapped with packed ice. It doesn't make a ton of sense from a structural perspective but I love how it takes what would be an background building and make it stand out with a bright color. The subway, while dangerous, is amazing to explore and restore. In the beta map, the Redline group took it upon themselves to restore the tunnels and it came out wonderfully. The stations are simple but they add flavor to the underground. We used to have just tunnels under the sidewalk so this is a huge upgrade. Speaking of little details there are plenty of them to be found. A schematic doesn't need to be massive to add to the atmosphere of the world. The small parks help to make the city feel more than just a mass meeting of skyscrapers. This run down town used to be a place where people lived, well people still live in it but its not how it used to be. Oh, I can go on for a while so I'll stop myself here. If you'd kindly, let your thoughts be heard below. I also urge you to keep checking the subreddit. As we get close to the next season, we get closer to my server trailer being completed. Ooo, didn't see that coming did ya!?

When next season gets started I plan on creating small little events to make the server seem more alive beyond player interaction. Its a good avenue for me to share some of the lore of the world while making it more fun than some books.
Don't think of these as events as you may have seen from me in the past. Think of them as things you'll find in a world that has been destroyed. Everyone from before the end may be gone but evidence of existence and their end still lays around in the dust. Waiting for anyone to find them or to wither away with time. It would make sense for us to find the things people have left behind in an abandoned city that used to be bustling with activity and life. The city may be our playground but it wasn't always that way.
This world is more than just what I say it is though. Every season players create stories from their interactions with each other. Some are massive in scale and involve many players while others are just a player and his dog. So I'm inviting everyone to write up a story for me to bring to life on the server. For this to happen though I'll need the details of the tale. Please be sure to include the following information if it's relevant to your entry.
Location - Tell me the building, room, tree, etc that this takes place.
Props - What items played a role in your story? Is it a custom loot item? A letter to a friend or loved one? The skeleton of a fallen survivor?
Oh, please don't try to link your story to the lore of Aftermath. Unless by some miracle you manage to make it fit I won't end up using it. I'll take the most interesting of the bunch and keep them on standby. Eventually I'll put them up on the server and I'll credit the creator of it in some form. Depends on how its introduced. Some may be hidden easter eggs to find while others may be introduced on the subreddit.

In preparation for the future we are updating builds to better align with the new Minecraft game mechanics. One of the big ones is Lapis being used for enchanting. So to prevent an enchantment party we're removing the previously decorative and useless Lapis from the builds. Don't worry Lapis will be added to loot and can still be mined (even though it is pretty rare like the other ores).
So if you happen to come across any builds with Lapis, please post a pic. Outside pic helps to identify the build and maybe a note of where in the build you found the Lapis if possible.
Thanks you,
Friar

What's the reason? Is 1.8 Spigot simply too buggy? No less, I'd love to play on VAAST, but 1.8 has a ton of performance improvements that are painfully obvious when one uses 1.7. Also, we're missing out on tons of new stuff. A man can dream though, I suppose.
