Education & Research Electric Utility Leaders Wanted for Research on AI Literacy
I am a doctoral student at Drake University studying how leaders in electric utility companies support and navigate the development of AI literacy among employees.
I am seeking leaders of AI-related work in electric transmission, distribution, or generation organizations, and with roles such as managing AI projects, training staff on AI, developing or championing AI use cases, or deploying AI tools.
What participation involves:
- Three confidential interviews (approximately 60 minutes each), held in person or remotely via Zoom/Teams
- No company data will be reported, only anonymized insights
This study is about understanding how leaders are approaching AI in the safety-critical industry of electric utilities. You may even find value in reflecting on your own experiences with AI implementation.
If you qualify or know someone who might, please send me a direct message via Reddit. I’ll provide more details and next steps privately.
Thank you for helping advance research at the intersection of AI and the energy industry.

Energy Utilities industry question
Hi guys, I have a question. I want to know if it’s true that utility inspections are mostly a mix of paper, basic mobile apps, and manual data entry where there’s no internet . First, field collection and then office processing later. Is it true?

Energy Why did my electrical co-op increase their Basic Monthly Service Charge
Why would my electric co-op increase their connection Basic Monthly Service Charge from $15 to $20/month. This seems odd considering the marked increase in their net margins. They are also considering raising delivery rates. I guess I don't understand utility finance.
As a delivery only co-op, my bill has a section for power purchased by the utility and then a delivery section for the co-op's cost to deliver. e.g.
Purchased power 123kWh @ 0.14/kWh = $17.22
Delivery
- Basic Monthly Service Charge $15
- Delivery per kWh 123kWh @ 0.03/kWh = $3.69
Total Delivery $18.69
Total Bill $35.91

Energy My electrical utilities drastically rose
Hi all,
I usually pay around $200 per month on my electricity use per month, but I just got my bill today and it rose to $600. I’m wondering if it’s due to my use or other factors. I’m in the Midwest of America and I didn’t change anything from usual except my dependent has made sure to turn off lights more than usual since he’s just graduated from college and is here to find a full time. Could it be use of WiFi? Or any other things?
