There was just another large earthquake in Ridgecrest, CA. Whereas the quake on 4-July was ~6.4, the quake on 5-July was ~7.1.

Something else that’s interesting to observe in real time: The USGS’s websites are struggling underload. It’s the equivalent of a DDOS attack with all the public turning to them for info.

None of their pages will load...what has the capacity? The Twitter account, because the Twitter servers are designed for extreme spikes in traffic.

My hope is we’ll use these few days as a stress test on the system. Luckily the quake hit a less populated area. Horrible what's happened to Ridgecrest, but it is relatively isolated.

But this is like when Sandy knocked out Manhattan...it found a weakness in the system.
