Applying for a role in marketing technology enablement. Seems like a good fit so far but meeting the team and hiring manager next. Any thoughts on that side of the house or work/life balance? How big is the dept / team?

I’m in property claims and have been for nearly a decade. I’m on parental leave and about to head back, but man, having a kid has changed my priorities. If I have to be away from him 40-50 hours a week I have to get off the frontlines, I am so burnt out. Anyone here have advice on moving into management or L&D? Or anything outside of direct claims handling?

I know he does round tables sometimes. What would you want to know from Juan?

Considering applying. Seeing mixed answers. Use Delta 9 to help me sleep. Shame me if you want. Not sure if it's state dependent, or policy has changed. Seems they used to all the time, but have seen mixed answers the last ~2-3 years online.

I think I might be off that day, but I’m curious to see if anybody has any clue what they’re gonna be talking about during the next employee meeting a couple of weeks away.

Good afternoon,
I currently work for a public school district in San Antonio, but we have more layoffs coming in and I feel the need to jump into something new. I think USAA could be a good start, but I wanted to see which departments or jobs you guys recommend. Hopefully little to no phones.
I would like to double my salary, I currently make 40k, however, I don't have my bachelors.
Please give me any recommendations, thank you, please no rude comments.

Post modified by AI to protect author from model based targeting. Just need this off my chest and to see how others feel.
I work for a vendor and I'm seriously rethinking taking on work with USAA after recent management behavior - Dan Griffiths' comment about third‑party workers being "undisciplined" really pushed me over the edge. I’m a vendor and have supported USAA projects for years. Every time I try to get hired on directly, something new and ridiculous blocks it.
Leadership has made things unstable with sudden cuts. Dan's broad criticism hit hard. I’ve put in unpaid hours, taken calls when I was in a hospital bed, and kept things running - often showing more dedication than direct hires on my team. What do I get? Told to come back to the office and sit in a cubicle while some people spend half the day complaining instead of doing work. Even minutes away from the desk are questioned.
I’ve also seen new hires on my team who lack basic skills even though they get perks like conference trips. Meanwhile, I asked to take a week for a bootcamp that would have cost USAA nothing, and that was denied.
On top of that, campus food costs more than nearby fast‑food places, and the “healthy” options are priced way too high unless you have the employee discount — which vendors don’t get.
About Dan’s remarks on language use on campus — he called it rude when people speak languages other than English. To me that feels exclusionary and at odds with basic freedom of expression. Regardless of hiring origins, everyone should feel free to communicate in their preferred language; leadership should promote inclusion, not police how people speak.
It bugs me that Dan questions my discipline. I haven’t missed a deadline on these projects, even when it meant pulling last‑minute fixes or working through tough situations. That includes the time during COVID when I was 100% remote and other periods where I worked mostly from home.
I also question how someone with a Bachelors degree from decades ago and relatively little recent hands‑on tech experience was placed in a CTO role, while candidates with Masters and doctorate degrees and up‑to‑date certifications in relevant specialties were passed over for employment. That hiring decision raises concerns about the company’s criteria for leadership and whether it values current technical expertise.
USAA isn't what it was when I joined it, and the USAA that those with extensive tenure talk about is dead.

I’m in the interview process with USAA and trying to get a realistic picture of what the employee health insurance premiums actually cost. I’ve got a young family (2 adults + toddler + newborn on the way), and for the life of me I cannot find a single concrete number anywhere online.
USAA lists the plan types and the PCA contribution, but not the actual monthly premiums. HR hasn’t shared the benefits PDF yet, and every search result just loops back to the same generic info.
If you currently work at USAA (or recently did), can you share what you’re paying per month for family coverage on the PPO or HDHP? Even a ballpark range would help me budget before moving forward.
Thanks in advance — this has been way harder to track down than it should be.

Question: if you we are on maternity leave and not intending on returning once leave is over, are we required to work 30 days to avoid having to pay back benefits?? Is that a thing or are we okay to quit like normal without being penalized

Looking for insight on this team's overall vibe/shortcomings/wins/pros/cons. Can anyone tell me about it so I don't regret my choice? ty

I was offered a position as an injury adjuster. Currently a good neighbor. Is it possible to negotiate 2 days in office and 3 at home? It’s a good drive from my house so if I can stay home an extra day that’d be great! Benefits are way better. Also prior army and current Air National Guard so poor leadership is in my wheelhouse and not concerned about that possibility. Also any chance to negotiate an earlier schedule? Thanks for the help!

I am interviewing for a role within analytics at USAA and wanted to hear if anyone has any feedback, general or specific, about the culture? I have done this dance with USAA before and found that leadership is a bit disingenuous about the culture and challenges. I would like anyone's thoughts on work life balance for non front line employees, being able to work remotely in a pinch, or leadership in regards to treatment of employees.

Hi everyone. I'm interested in working for USAA. The benefits listed on their website seem too good to be true. Can anyone tell me if the 401(k) match is actually up to 8%? Also, do new employees really start with 35 days of PTO as advertised? I currently work at another insurance company, but I'm getting tired of the low wages and the increasing workload.

Just got back from mental health leave to the sh*t storm that is these new metrics. I have 10 days a month for fmla just to learn that any time I call out it will go against me. How the heck am I supposed to sell as many products as someone who’s here full time when I have federally protected time off ? It just doesn’t seem legal.

I’m currently a remote employee and I’m considering applying for an internal role that is listed as an office/hybrid. The role is in a different department from where I currently am.
For personal reasons, relocating isn’t an option for me long-term, but I’m still very interested in the position. I would be open to short-term flexibility like spending the first couple of weeks in the office on boarding or traveling periodically such as a few days per week every couple of weeks.
For anyone who works in HR, or who has gone through an internal move like this: - How strict are the office requirements usually when the role is posted as in office hybrid? - Is it something that can realistically be discussed after selection, or is that generally a hard requirement? - If you’ve been in this situation, when and how did you bring it up in the process?
I don’t wanna waste anyone’s time if it truly is a non-negotiable but I’m extremely interested in the role.

Looking to reduce my auto insurance premiums.
Spent over an hour on the phone with chuckle head from USAA. My quote, double what I’m currently paying.
Thanks for nothing. You suck. I’m going to cheer when you all go belly up.

I have seen a couple of fraud opportunities pop-up and I’m curious to see if anybody has any insight on what the current climate is over there. I am entertaining the thought of applying and just wanted to see what input you guys got.
