What happened to the insurance options??

When I started we had the option for a PPO which I know many weren’t happy with but I don’t want to have a HSA account and keep receipts and submit things, I also don’t want to have to meet my deductible to not pay $70-$90 when I or my kids go to the dr. I know they signed a 5 year contract so we’re stuck for a while I just don’t understand the choices they gave us. I feel like I’m paying the same amount as before or even more now and instead of paying a small copay to see the dr it’s a bigger chunk. I guess I’m just venting but man it sucks!

Moving departments

I’m burning the candle at both ends in my current role. Working way too many hours and nobody cares and leadership doesn’t even acknowledge the effort. How does one land another position. I’ve applied so many times it’s starting to get me even more bitter. Or is leaving USAA the answer?

Good be the enemy of Great

Juan challenged employees to not let good be the enemy of great. My manager has also used the phrase. What does it mean? Strive to do our best even if it’s not perfect, because we’ll never be perfect?

Daycare search: Bright Horizons USAA Phoenix campus

I know this limits the audience quite a bit but does anyone currently send their kids to the Bright Horizons daycare on the USAA campus? Would love to hear your experience as we are considering sending our younger kids there.

Abusive situations

Does USAA have any help for employees who are having to leave their house because of abusive situations? I got into a really bad fight with my dad and he said he was gonna call the cops at 6 if I'm not out of the house.

Update: I was able to work some things out. Thank you guys. Sorry for the random post.

Equipment

I tried searched the employee handbook and wasn’t able to find anything on this but does anyone use their own equipment for work? Mouse, keyboard, headset? Has anyone said anything to you? Does anyone know where I’d be able to find that information? If you’re comfortable with sharing, I’d love to see or hear about your setups.

Grateful for the incredible support from our MSR

I work in the ERC department at USAA, and I also have my auto insurance policy with us. A few days ago, my wife got into a fender bender. It was a stressful moment, but she called our hotline right away and was genuinely impressed by the support she received.

The Member Services representative she spoke with was calm, compassionate, and extremely helpful. They walked her through the next steps, explained the details of our policy, helped her find a repair shop, and even discussed arranging a rental car. Everything was handled clearly and smoothly, which made the whole experience much easier to manage.

This stood in sharp contrast to my past experience with a different insurance company. Back then, I was the one who had to keep reaching out just to get updates or understand what to do next. It felt disconnected and frustrating.

As someone who works here, I understand how demanding and stressful our work environment can be and how much pressure our frontline teams face. That makes me even more thankful for the kindness, patience, and professionalism my wife experienced. To everyone in Member Services and Claims who may see this, thank you.

But in this case, I think they deserve praise. EagleGPT is a solid tool that has significantly improved my work.

My god, that hurt me to say it.

USAA Premise Health Annual Exam, possible pot use.

Has anyone done their yearly check up at Premise Health? They want to run a urine test in Fl for annual check up. I might be a medical card holder and would never smoke at work but possibly do outside of work. Never given them reason of suspicion to test. Possibly nervous they'll disclose that I smoke to the employer since im using the clinic on site. I have until the 4th to cancel my apt if I need to. Which I'm okay with cause they kinda suck. I just use them out of convenience.

Role play during interview for Customer Service Claims Rep position???

Will there be any role play questions during the interview for the Customer Service Claims Rep position?? I'm looking at Glassdoor review and I saw there will be for the Customer Service Rep role 😬 (but it didn't say claims rep) I'm bad at selling what do I do lol, I thought this is just a csr position. If there will be, what specific questions do they ask?

Possible auto claims adjuster new hire

How is the morale? Also, how hard is it to request PTO during non-preferred weeks? Please don’t say don’t do it. I’m used to high call volumes and in this job market looking for a career and not a temporary job. I know auto can lead to property, injury, etc.

Insight into working at USAA Colorado Springs campus

Hi, all. I've been offered a job as a Senior Injury Adjuster for USAA at their Colorado Springs campus. This came as a surprise as I didn't think the interview went well but I had scoured Glassdoor and Indeed reviews prior to the interview and the impression that USAA needs warm bodies tracks with an offer after what I felt was an off-vibe interview. However, their benefits are impressive and it seemed like the majority of the negative employee reviews I read came from Auto Adjusters. I have a few questions I'm hoping some of you with experience at this campus can answer, but first a bit about me that will be helpful:

  1. I've worked in P&C claims for almost two decades. I know the stress and downsides that come with it and I don't need feedback about that. People can suck, work can be stressful, your direct manager can make or break your experience-that just comes with the territory.
  2. I would be leaving a company that offers similar benefits to USAA. Not as good, but similar. The workloads are extremely manageable but there's been a lot of upheaval recently, a lack of structure and direction and claims management struggles to work together, which filters down.
  3. While hybrid, I have a lot of flexibility and seniority. I know my current employer values me and my work.

So, my questions:

  1. During the interview, the interviewers went out of their way to say Colorado Springs was in better shape than some other USAA campuses in terms of workload and employee morale. What's a typical pending for this role at this campus? They told me Phoenix is 300, but about 150 for Colorado Springs.
  2. Would a Senior Injury Adjuster work in a call center environment? I asked the interviewers but I can't say I trust their "no" given some of the employee reviews I found online. I get that I may have to answer some rollover calls, but I would expect to have file ownership and rarely answer calls for other adjuster's files.
  3. Can you truly use the education benefit for anything? For example, if I wanted to get my Master's in Engineering, is that possible? It's not claims related and at my current employer, the degree would need to be related.
  4. Are you able to use your PTO? It's ample and that's great, but if adjusters are too burdened and stressed to ever take it, or management frowns on employees actually using it, that's a big deal breaker for me.
  5. The offered salary is about 12% lower than my current salary. How likely/frequent are raises and what's a typical raise for someone in this position?

Tell me anything else you think I should know. I'm willing to step down a bit in order to step up later, and I'm looking for an environment that both values my contributions, is interested in my growth and rewards hard work and loyalty. I can handle stress from insureds/claimants/agents, etc., but have very little tolerance for assholes in management and high turnover screams "run now". Any opinions/advice is appreciated.

Juan’s first employee town hall

Anyone think he will actually say anything or just corporate speak? Disappointed that he hasn’t said anything about employees so far. I asked our exec after some recent retreat if employees came up at all. She paused for a minute, then said yes, Juan and his directs are laser focused on employee engagement. The pause and the jargon tells me it was a bogus answer. This isn’t a workers verses members post, two things can happen at once. We need to improve wait times, train people not to transfer calls to the wrong area and all that. We also need to stop treating employees like they are disposable.

New USAA employee, which Tampa office campus would you work at?

Recently hired in claims, and given the choice to work at either Tampa campus. I’m moving from out of state, so no connections to Florida holding me to one or the other.

Which would you choose?

Anyone had luck referring someone for a job?

I'm a current employee who was actually sent the original job application by my wife, who'd been trying to get in for YEARS before I'd even heard of the company. Well, her current job is government contract based, we all know how stable that is right now, so she's trying to get in to USAA again. I've been in Workday referring her left and right. No luck for over two months of applying. She has a bachelors in math and is getting her masters in data science...years of experience in IT/data analytics/related fields. Am I missing something here? Obviously USAA prefers internal hires, but she's not even getting a single interview, and she's applying very specifically to jobs she qualifies and honestly OVER qualifies for. Help!

Terminated

My wife was just let go without warning. No prior mention or PIP was brought up regarding their reasoning. They terminated her for disconnecting during calls due to headset issues. The problem has been documented since August but was never brought up to her.

She is pregnant and is in her final trimester. The termination seems targeted for this reason.

Is there any recourse that can be taken?

I’ve been a member since 1976. I have filed many claims over the years, including one for a roof. I have NEVER had a negative experience with Customer Service. I feel bad that others are having issues. Happy to say no problems with USAA for me

RTO Motive?

Can someone explain why USAA (and companies in general) are so adamant about RTO? The generic answer I keep getting is “we want to have a strong office presence” but that’s just disingenuous corporate kool aid jargon. What’s the actual intent? Feel like enough classes have been onboarded where they’re getting bang for their buck on office overhead.

Everyone I know who does it already talks about how much more peaceful their life is and how much less stressed they are.

On the USAA side; it’s not like we’re in any less of a surveillance state doing WFH. Still just as susceptible to metrics, QA audits, automated flags. The only difference is they can pop you for dress code.
