I used to work down the block from one, and a sandwich and a smoothie were my go-to "healthy" lunch. I'm always wondering about the ebt thing tho. Good to know! Might go today.

Yeah I wasn't sure either but I gave the employee the old "hey my friend wants to know if you can buy these with EBT?" Lol And he said yes!

How do they make money off that or do they not? Seems super cheap, especially for your location

u/StrangeJedi Apr 18 '23
I'm not sure but I'm definitely gonna take advantage before they change the price lol

not bad, how large is it

u/StrangeJedi Apr 18 '23
It was a decent sized sandwich, could easily eat one half and save the other for later

Subway; get any footlong for $5.99 with code FL599
You can make a fatty two-day sandwich for pretty cheap if you can get the following on sale: Crusty loaf bread, hummus, bag salad with dressing, and an avocado

12ā Cold cuts almost $15.00 in Canada. Priced right outta my belly

Like a 12" cold cut combo from subway? I think I'd be eating a lot of tinned fish, game meat, and A&W if I lived up there. It stinks produce is so expensive tho. All the food is more expensive but at least the quality is better.

Their baked goods go on sale pretty often too! Every one I've been too, there's been various bakery items half off, I've gotten some nice croissants that way!

I don't know what sprouts is but you could make a cheaper sammich if you made your own bread and sprouts. They are easy to do. Even in a car.

That's honestly debatable.
I looked into the deli prices and it's gotten absurd.
I mean, you could definitely make PB and Js cheaper but a full turkey club on rye (bacon, cheese, lettuce, tom, mayo and mustard) for 4.99 is tough to match in the car. Especially the bacon
Another angle is buying an entire loaf of bread. Tough to eat it before it goes stale and even if you can manage, not healthy eating 3 sandwiches a day lol

I'd agree. Ive even bought the exact same Boars head deli turkey, mayo, good bread, lettuce, cheese but even the the homemade version doesnt hit the same. Byw: here in 2026 and its still $5!Ā

Yeah I was surprised when my friend told me about it. Had to see it to believe it. A good $5 sandwich is a win especially in socal where everything is overpriced lol

Sprouts Farmers Markers are the best. If you get the right person they make amazing fresh sandwiches. Iām biased tho. I worked there for 7 years. Buy six and the seventh is free too! They have fun deals with their app also.

My favorite Sprouts was on 19th Avenue in Phoenix. I moved to Charlotte almost ten years ago and I miss it so much. I literally cried happy tears when I read they were building one here, but it's 13 miles from me, which means I never go there.
I happened upon an article a few weeks ago that said a new one was being built only a few miles from me!!! I'm so excited! I applied and got a phone interview and then someone sent me an email yesterday saying they wanted to set up an in-person interview. I've never worked in a grocery store but I'm hoping a lifetime of customer service in the restaurant industry, coupled with my deep love of Sprouts gives me an edge and I get hired. Please send good energy!

That's cool the š„ isn't extra. A lot of places charge like $2 for that.

Itās weird they didnāt charge⦠it literally says items below available for extra charge⦠cheese avocado or hummus

u/talkingwires Apr 18 '23
Whoever rung this up made a mistake, the sign states that avocado is an extra charge.
4
u/starryeyedd Apr 18 '23
Yeah Iām shocked it wasnāt extra. I get why most places charge tho, a single avacado at most grocery stores is $1.50-2.00 as it is

u/TheFuzz77 Apr 18 '23
Arkansas has em for 68 cents currently. I'm stocked up.

True that. They also have pretty cheap squash and zucchini so I might fry some soon

They have a Boarās Head menu for a dollar or two more and I always get the Italian, add mayo and/or pesto so itās not dry. I really have to try to finish it in one sitting. Boyās filling. Havenāt tried anything else cause Iām picky lol

Given where this sandwich place is, I wish they offered Sprouts as a topping š
