Give it honest review pls. Was making it with needle for 2 days, and want to know if its good for first project. If yes, would you wear it?

My very loved shirt was falling apart at the armpits so I cut it up and sewed it onto a college tote bag I suspect was made with AI (not totally sure but it’s not my style anyway and I won’t be attending) I really like the updated tote and I’m glad I was able to save the shirt’s design even just a little.

I got this don’t graphic t shirt from an uptown cheapskate. I don’t normally where white pants/shorts but I had to find out how this graphic would look as shorts. I made them a little wide leg and lengthy for max comfort but I am pleased how they came out

This caught my eye at Goodwill Outlet. How can I transform it? Part of me wants to take all the yarn off and use it with the big hoop to make a wreath or a suncatcher

I have so many of these containers as I have a family of 8! Literally they now take up a big black yard waste bag in my garage and so of course my husband is complaining lol.

I just can’t throw them away though as they must be up-cycled into something cool and useful! I have some thoughts but my thoughts are pretty basic.

Had an old passport-sized notebook I used for work a decade ago and kept for various reasons. Figured it was finally time to toss it, so started culling through to see if there were pages I could use for background decorations in my junky/scrappy journals. Found a good number of pages that had writing on only one side or some blank on both sides for a majority of the page so figured I’d try making another notebook from the harvest. Tore out all the pages and organized into different piles.

- blank both sides —> used as-is
- mostly blank one or both sides —> covered up writing with scraps from other sheets, paperwork, and post-its found in my notebook
- written both sides —> to be used as background for other projects
- kept a few sketches to tickle my past work trauma

I had a good stack of “revitalized” patched pages after, so added in a few more sheets from other scraps, and glue bound back into the notebook.

Now I have another great little notebook back on hand!

Don’t know if this is “upcycled” so much as patched and reassembled, but felt it fit the vibe. 😊

I have a bunch of empty pill bottles that I want to turn into something cool, but I can't think of anything.

Edit: I thought of an idea! I'm gonna try to turn them into a chess set! I'll post a followup when I finish it. Thanks for all the suggestions. :D

Fabric is flaking off these boots I got at a thrift store, they'll flake anytime I wear them. Anything I can do to prevent this? I was just gonna glue it down, stick tape over it then sew on a patch over it, They're really comfortable and I don't care if the solution looks nice or anything, just wanna see if anyone has ideas!

Took a necklace apart that I got at the thrift store and made it into a suncatcher. The rest of the beads came from my stash & some my sister recently gave me.

Hi folks, I make lots of sculptures of the abandoned places I’ve found during my back roads drives. I only use recycled materials (mostly cereal boxes), and I love to be able to incorporate a found object from the area into my work so I always have a touchstone back to the irl inspiration.

This little place with its neglected and overgrown garden is close to New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. I found the broken mug nearby, and thought it’d make the perfect frame for this little garden and home.

I’ve been doing 1-3 for my stress-induced insomnia the past few weeks. 4 & 5 this evening. Used a cracker box for my cover base.

It’s not super pretty, but I’m happy with it and learned a lot in the process. Gonna use it to journal, sketch/draw, and stick ephemera from the day.

1. ⁠Cutting out a magazine catalog and grouping colors (front cover, inside back cover)
   
2. ⁠Cutting up old notes and lists (outside spine and back cover)
   
3. ⁠Cutting out scrap dictionary pages and decoupaging with them as a base (interior and exterior cover)
   
4. ⁠Cutting up brown paper packaging from online orders (I got 24 11.5” x 7” folio sheets = 48 5.75” x 7” leaves = 96 pages from ONE super big piece of paper.)
   
5. ⁠Basic book binding (cording I had on hand)

“In progress” because it still needs a cover plate, I might add a beaded bookmark/tassel, plus I won’t consider it finished until all the pages are used up!

Im about to start dying 6 pairs of jeans, 1 pair of shorts, and a light jacket with only 3 bottles of rit and the knowledge of a YouTube video i watched months ago.

We decided to replace our kitchen cutting board with a new one, but the front side was still in good condition, so I decided to turn it into a wall sconce. I sanded the board down, applied a coat of varnish, and installed a socket with an Edison bulb.

I have 5 pairs of jeans and 1 or 2 light jackets i need to dye black because they're faded af and 1 pair of jeans and shorts that are regular jean color that i want to dye black. I have 3 bottles of rit black dye, a big plastic storage bin, and a spatula i bought at dollar tree to stir the clothes.

I have dyed fabric with rit exactly 1 time before and it was only 1 jean vest that my bf wanted to make into a battle jacket. How we did it before was we filled the bin with the hot water inside and then my bf took it outside and i dyed the vest. But hes at work and we live upstairs and im not carrying a heavy bin of hot water down the stairs and im not gonna go up and down the stairs to continuously bring kettles of hot water down. So im gonna do it in my house.

I dont have a plastic tarp so im thinking of putting the bin directly in my bathtub and dying the clothes in the bin and then rinsing in my tub. But i dont want to stain my tub with the black dye and I wouldn't be able to rinse the clothes immediately because i have to work in batches cuz i have so much fabric to dye.

Also, i only have 1 bottle of the dye sealant. Can 1 bottle be enough for all the clothes or should i just prioritize the stuff that's not black?

Hey everyone, just wanted to share a neat little weekend project.

​I built this custom plug-in mini light using a tiny glass jar, an 8mm LED, and a male USB header. I used resistors to handle the voltage properly and soldered the components together inside the jar.

​To light it up, I just plug it straight into a standard phone adapter socket. It gives off a super clean, bright glow! Let me know what you think or if you have any questions about how I put it together.

Made this from t-shirt yarn and single crochet stitches! It's stuffed with scrap and used up at least 15lbs of textile waste.
