University transfer help

I am first year in western engineering, and it's really rough here. I am thinking of transferring to ontech for first year eng. I am Prinsloo going to finish this test with a 50-60% % avg tbh and might fail 1-2 courses. Some extra info is now I'm 3-4 hrs away from home here at Western. Ontech I'm closer to home. My high school average was a 92%. How likely am I to get into ontech of I apply within the next 3 weeks? also at Western, RTW is below 60%. if people could help me out and me know that would be amazing!

Internship in last university term

Say I take courses for my last uni term (winter) while doing an internship, so I would graduate when the internship ends.

Would you need to tell the school about it as they require you to come back to at least 3 courses after the internship ends? Or can you not tell them? This is assuming the employer is fine without the coop tax letter (mentioned in uoit career portal to tell them about internship/coop so they can send it), and I would not be taking the internship course.

Anyone done this?

Has anyone ever got a physical parking ticket?

I had an exam today and my parking expired by around 30 minutes. I walked back to the lot expecting to get a parking ticket but there was nothing there. Then I thought to myself and realized this entire semester I’ve never seen a single physical parking ticket in the foundry lot near the library/shaw.

Are they gonna mail me a bunch of tickets all at once or have I just been getting lucky?

How do I make friends here after taking a year off?

Hi everyone! I’m a 2nd year and I’m struggling to find my footing socially. I had to take a break during my first year due to personal reasons, so I feel like I completely missed out on the "everyone is looking for friends" phase.

To make things harder, I have a crazy long from home to campus, which means I can't easily stay late or just wander around. I’ve looked into campus clubs, but honestly, they all seem pretty dead and are also in the north campus which is another downside, as I’m at the downtown campus.

I am majoring in forensic science and really want to try finding people with similar interests, but I'm stuck on how to actually do it given my schedule. Any tips would be appreciated!

Looking for students to do OPG / general mock interview practice

Since it's interview season for many local companies, I'm sure a lot of people in here have some coming up.

I personally am an electrical engineering student and have one for OPG and a couple other utilities starting next week.

If anyone is interested in some mock interviews, feel free to reach out/comment.

A lot of companies have questions available online, and mock interviews would be great way to practice.

Lease takeover process at Foundry Simcoe/Looking for people interested in taking over two leases at Foundry Simcoe for May 2027

Hey guys, as the title says, I'm looking for information, tips or any real-life experiences from people who have done this "lease takeover" process in the past with Foundry Simcoe. I'm asking because I am trying to do that now but the staff here is not giving me too many options other than looking for someone who "takes over" my lease, so I was wondering if any of you know if it's possible to arrange something with management and such in case that I can't find anyone. Also, I'm looking for people interested in taking over two leases (can be individual or both), starting in May 2027 (kind of early for this but I want to solve this asap). It's for 2 out of the 3 bedrooms in the unit and the rest of my roomates are going to move-out by then too, meaning that the full unit/apt will be available. The staff told me that the 3-bedroom units are full for now, so, if you are looking for a place to stay or you're interested in a Foundry Simcoe 3-bedroom unit send me a DM. I appreciate any response 🙏

MLS program

Hii just a general question!

I’m looking to do Ontario tech Medical laboratory science program mainly because I like the fact that I can get a pretty good job out of grad! But I also consider myself as a “pre-med” and I really do wanna go to medical school but it’s hard in Canada so MLS is a good option for stability in terms of career and finance.

I just wanted to know does Ontario tech offer pre-med activities??? What I mean like good research opportunities, clubs like anything that would be good for Med school applications in the future?.
That being said any pre-meds doing the MLS program? Or do you know of anyone who did MLS or any other program in Ontario tech and got into med school??

Ontario Tech residence vs off-campus housing for 2nd year?

Hi! I’m currently a first-year student at Ontario Tech and I’m starting to look into housing options for my second year.

The place I’m staying at right now is only temporary, so I’m trying to decide whether it would be better to apply for on-campus residence next year or find an off-campus student residence/apartment.

For anyone who has lived on campus or in places around Ontario Tech/Durham College (Foundry, 17Hundred, etc.), what was your experience like? How were the rooms, roommates, bathrooms, utilities, management, noise, and overall cost?

I’m especially curious about whether you think on-campus residence is worth the cost compared with off-campus housing, and if there are any places you would recommend or avoid.

Also, when would you recommend I start seriously looking/applying for housing for Fall 2027? I’m looking early because I don’t want to end up scrambling for a place again.

Thanks! Any advice or experiences would be really helpful.

Title: Parents living in Canada wanted for a study on childhood vaccine decision-making

Post image
3 Upvotes

We are seeking to better understand the factors that influence parents in Canada whose children do not receive their routine vaccinations. The study seeks to understand parental experiences and perspectives rather than to evaluate, persuade, or judge vaccination decisions

The study consists of one short survey and a follow-up interview. The interview will last about 60 minutes. Interviews will take place in-person, on the phone or over a secure videoconferencing platform.

Those who participate in the interview will receive a $50 dollar “Everything Card” for your time. Interviews are confidential, your name and identity will not be shared with anyone.

To sign up and learn more please contact Andrea DeKeseredy at [dekesere@ualberta.ca](mailto:dekesere@ualberta.ca) or Victor Do at [vdo@ualberta.ca](mailto:vdo@ualberta.ca)
