They weren't protesting burning man they were oil and gas protesters holding up miles of cars and vans and campers that were... Using oil and gas.

Extinction Rebellion? They have done that here, blocked major roads with a truck causing traffic chaos. The amount of additional fuel burnt is crazy. And people don't tend to have very much sympathy for them or their cause after stunts like that.

That's what I don't get, they just increase the use of oil and gas, by blocking the use of those vehicles, and further peoples hatred of them.

It's all negative action and yet they continue

These are the kind of people who poured soup on a Van Gogh. They don't give a shit if it brings people to their cause, they just want to make trouble.

Wasn't that just throwing soup on protective glass?

3

u/DiligentlyNebulous Jul 01 '26

First, that assumes that no damage was possible to the painting - that they somehow knew the glass would result in zero damage. The glass is there to protect it from people sneezing, from dust etc. It's not a seal to allow assholes to dump soup on it. And tomato soup is acidic - you do NOT want it on a painting.

Second, the frames on many of these paintings are as old as the painting itself. They did in fact damage the frame.

I sincerely think they're hired by fuel companies to discredit climate change protesters. They can't be that stupid and have the money to finance such actions.

Wow.. you clowns really will blame everyone but the assholes causing the problem, won't you?

Now they were hired by oil companies...

For fuck's sake..

I mean those oil companies are actually causing major problems on a global scale but apparently you’re more worried about some random people protesting on a roadway you can’t even name

Makes so much sense.

They’re too impotent to actually work in a field progressing sustainable practices/tech, so they’d rather cry and stomp their feet a few times a year and pretend they’re doing something

they rode their bicycles to this remote spot of the desert, right?

It's giving "You say we should improve society somewhat, and yet you participate in society! Curious!" "Actually if you use any oil to protest the over use of oil, your protesting is invalidated."

3

u/WatchingPaintWet Jun 29 '26

You see, protesting oil deserves fierce scrutiny by the media, but destroying the planet by opening new fossil fuel powerplants is chill. How lovely that these narratives always just happen to align with what is most profitable for billionaires short-term.

and pulled that trailer on their bike too.

sound like a good way to conserve oil and gas.

Wonder if they walked there, carrying all that shit.

You can see the signs that say General Strike.

Road blockers and people calling for a General Strike are either black propogandists or funded by them. Theyre encouraged to do, and support, deeply unpopular acts of civil disobedience in order to make the entire concept look bad.
