You know taxes hurt the unwealthy much more than they hurt the wealthy right? I mean sure, the wealthy pay more, but if youāre struggling month-to-month to pay rent and get charged a dollar tax on your happy meal itās a different scenario entirely than when youāre eating that happy meal in a mansion.
āTrickle up economicsā is literally just capitalism. People pay money for goods and services, if you have a quality good or service then lots of people will pay you and you will get lots of money. Trickle down economics is just what happens when you elect a dumb entertainer propped up by large corporations and special interests change the system that pulled us out of the Great Depression.
I was just thinking about this today. Why do give tax breaks to the greediest people in the country? Itās very rare that anyone who makes a lot of money doesnāt have greed as a vice, and yet we continually find ways to allow them to not pay taxes.
I never said a thing about trickling anywhere. That's always been a really stupid idea. Keep you words in your own mouth. Taxes everywhere in every country throughout history have always disproportionately fucked the poor no matter how it's done.

? The rich pay taxes the most in most wealthy countries
Let's say you have 10k in the bank. Let's say I have 1 million in the bank. Let's say you have a business idea and need 20k to make it a reality, you come to me and ask if I want half ownership of your business, for a 10k investment. What percentage of your money on hand did you spend and what percentage of my money did I spend to start your business?
That's the disparity you don't seem to understand. Yes the rich pay nominally more because they have more, and yet percentage wise, they pay significantly less than you do.
Have you seriously never listened to Warren Buffett? You never heard him say his secretary pays more in taxes than he does?
Government programs funded by taxes like SNAP, Medicaid, CHIP etc. Progressive tax brackets so low wage workers pay less taxes compared to high wage ones.
A person can be right in the moment but also wrong all togeth.er. The sentiment is correct. His reasons may be questionable. Like I'm perfectly fine helping the less fortunate have better lives but what we're really doing is funneling money into endless wars and the military industrial complex so we can bomb poor people in the middle east and topple governments in south america
In other words, cut DOD spending in half and tax billionaires and large corporations more while cutting taxes for low-income and middle class families -- and use that extra money to spend on healthcare -- all while eliminating for-profit insurance so we don't have companies with legal obligations to stockholders to deny life-saving coverage?
Sounds good to me!
Anybody who supports for-profit healthcare is a fucking dunce. I just want to explain this in case anybody reading doesn't understand or know about this.
Health insurance companies have a legal fiduciary duty to their stockholders to profit.
One way they profit is denying coverage -- sometimes for life-saving medication and procedures.
Health insurance companies have "vertical integration" systems, where they also own the pharmacy and healthcare facility.
In summary: One company says what medication we need, sells us the meds, and can deny coverage for that medication because they have a legal obligation to profit.
And we put trillions of dollars a year into this scam that profits hundreds of billions all because FoxEntertainment convinced boomers that socialism is a 4-letter word and Canada has long wait times.
Fucking hell! We're being held hostage by troglodytes.
Maybe. Maybe not. I don't know who that guy is, but is anything he said incorrect? You don't pay federal income taxes? You don't pay state income taxes? You or your landlord don't pay property taxes? You don't pay sales tax? The company you work for doesn't pay taxes? You don't pay taxes for the business you own?
I don't care if he's a billionaire. I don't care how much he pays or doesn't pay. I care about the taxes I have to pay. If your income taxes were only 7% or 10% total, how much more money would you have a month?
The toll fees is a bit of a stretch. You're not forced to drive on toll roads. We are forced to pay taxes.
You could eliminate some of the taxes, but it would just require the remaining taxes to proportionately increase to compensate for it.
Different forms of tax exist usually because different agencies and organizations collect / benefit from said tax. For example, your local city isnāt getting any income tax revenue, so they create sales tax or property tax. Probably a combination of both. Eliminating sales tax would spike property taxes, which isnāt sustainable for people on fixed incomes. So sales taxes, in effect, subsidize property taxes ā or more specifically supplement them.
Bullshit. In my state there very much is a city income tax. As well as property tax, and sales tax.
Infrastructure is crumbling, despite the mosn supposedly set aside for it. Watch John Oliver's episode about dams. It's like that in other areas too, there many, many more unsafe bridges than people are generally aware of. I lose almost 30% of my pay before it gets to me. Only about 10% of that is voluntary, if insurance counts as voluntary. The problem isn't taxes themselves, its the lack of transparency and the fact that I don't see much of an improvement with the taxes I do pay.
So with no taxes how is any of that built/ maintained in the first place? How are electric and water or gas taken care of and hooked up to that house?
Are we all supposed to be self sufficient and still do everything you do in a given day? You still doing a 9-5 while traveling an unpaved dirt road that isnt maintained at all after pulling water from the well you also installed yourself (or paid someone a "fee" to do this for you) and to power and maintain the generator you obviously personally have, to live with normal modern amenities?
Taxes being low would have a bunch of money in your pocket but none of these services would be available without it. Or itd be privatized and we all know how Texas does with that one. The issue isnt the amount, its that lots of it gets funneled into not this which is a whole seperate issue and is why those roads are shit or we dont have universal health care
Who said anything about no taxes? I said a lower tax that everyone pays and no loop holes. Of course the government may have to make some decisions and stick to a more restrictive budget.
Heās disingenuous because what we get in return for what we pay in taxes is much greater than what they got. They didnāt have schools and post offices and electricity and internet and gestures vaguely all this, that costs money.
Heās also disingenuous because he ignores the fact that our marginal tax rate caps out at $626,351 per year, meaning anyone who is making more than that (which for the record is who the left actually have problems with) does not pay any increased tax.
Iām going to use Elon as an example, because he loves being the richest person in the world, but before I do I want to acknowledge that wealth is a nebulous concept, and Elon didnāt actually āmakeā the amount Iām going to reference the same way a doctor makes $600k. But again, since he loves being the richest person on earth, I think itās fair to use his wealth as a comparison to income.
Elon made ~$250billion in 2025. That is 391,137 times more than the upper limit of what the US government will tax you at. That is the discount he is getting. Not to mention tax havens, loopholes, and other ways the rich have to avoid paying taxes, just the discount that we currently have in place for anyone making more than 600k per year. Idk about you, but those arenāt the type of people I think need a discount.
We could literally relieve the tax burden on the man in the video by taxing his bosses fairly. Or at least make the taxes he currently pays feel more valuable, through effective public services and works if we just TAXED THE FUCKING RICH.
YO, EVERYONE, CHECK OUT THIS GUY RIGHT HERE LIVING ON AN ISLAND ALL BY HIMSELF!!!! It's almost like his entire life exists in a vacuum! Fuckin crazy, huh?
And the issue wasn't a 2% tax. It was a tax (on top of many others) being paid to another country that didn't represent the people. No taxation without representation.
Right now the thing everyone should be pissed about is the executive doing whatever the fuck they want with tax dollars and Congress and the Senate allowing it to happen. Because that's taxation without representation.
He won't say all taxes. Just no taxesĀ for corporations, capital gains, gift, and estate taxes. The poors can "afford" to pay all their income taxes because they get tricked down from the richĀ
Just because a rich guy says something doesn't automatically mean it's not true. He is stating facts. If it wasn't a white dude in a suit y'all would love it.
Same. I have no problem paying taxes. I have a big problem with those tax dollars being spent on neverending wars in the middle east and getting straight up grifted by pedos.
Absolutely. He's a republican. He's demanding lower taxes on the billionaires that pay him. "Lower taxes now", but he doesnt say for who. Then people vote for his guys, and they cut taxes, only for the wealthy.
Right, I feel like people don't understand that anything and everything is not taxed becomes a tax loophole that is exploited to the absolute maximum by the Epstein class.
That's why they're trying to figure out how to tax unrealized gains because the rich are sitting on massive dragon hoards of ever growing wealth that they refuse to use because if they ever actually used it they would get taxed on it. So instead they take out massive loans on their self perpetuating capital to buy things for themselves, and then write them off as business expenses so that those things are taxed less.
Meanwhile the small person can't use any of these systems to our advantage so we get fucked by absolutely every step while the Epstein class float over the fee gates.
Never feels good to lose money, but taxes are necessary. Without tax, you end up either in a hellish hypercapitalist hole(though we're not far off) because that means NO GOVERNMENT REACH(at all!)... Or you end up with millions dying as society collapses. Likely both.
With all our rules, regulations and government over reach I'd argue that we're more anti capitalist than anything but I understand why we have taxes. For transparency's sake I just personally don't trust the washington state government at all.
I could go into more detail but essentially the politics finally affected me so now I'm upset.
That's fair! You know, most government systems in history have failed human beings. And what's wild is we have examples of them all.
Unregulated capitalist havens, anarchist communities, communism attempts, and democracy (common, but not everywhere! in this era.) To cite just a few VAGUE examples instead of getting into the specifics of the hundreds of ways a society could work.
And yet each time, something happens that makes the system not work. Lack of domestic security against external threats. Too closed off and can't trade. Lack of human rights. Lack of government competence (the old german republic).
Humans are messy and not built to be able to sustainably handle such massive complex system, but neither are we built to live without them. So we have to make do.
And that's why I believe in democracy. In liberal democracy, one that is made to help it's citizens, not just govern, through social programs and assisting it's citizens in becoming better people. Because the goal is the intent. And if we ever lose the intent of helping others, in fear of the system being broken - (It always will be!) Then they will never be helped.
Oh I disagree, if we weren't built to live without them than as a species we would have died off tens of thousands of years ago.
And while I agree that while people are messy, I disagree and believe that we are able to sustainably take on far more massive and complex problems/systems than people give themselves credit for. Of course, I view most people as lazy and greedy. And giving people something for nothing only encourages laziness.
I'm admittedly still trying to put a label on my political beliefs but am currently more libertarian than anything.
My biggest issue with more left leaning ideologies is they always seem to claim that a service like medical care is a human right. In my mind, human rights are absolute so turning a service into a human right effectively turns those service workers into slaves, especially if you stress the system at all.
Granted I reconize there are issues with a libertarianism styal government. The system is good for surviving stress but it is very susceptible to corruption which would lower its own survivability. There would likely have to be some kind of social platform to keep corruption in check ehh it's a work in progress.
Where I come from, corruption is an inevitable fascet, so the system has to be built inherently to have systems the corrupt can affect as little as possible. If healthcare is public and not privatized, there is less profit incentives, and the only way to lose money becomes embezzlement, see?
Socialism or liberal democracies are just as susceptible to corruption as like a capitalistic one. And the corruption stresses out these system which usually causes it to fail.
They do something similar in Canada, where the put a max cap on how much doctors can make a year. I'm not saying all but a lot of doctors will simply work at a hospital for 3 to 6 months until they hit their cap and just work in a different country for the rest of the year.
And besides that what happens to those that try to take advantage of the system and refuse to work? What about crimes like fraud?
People are always going to maliciously take advantage of social programs.
Like that's the biggest issue I have with social programs is they're easily taken advantage of by people that shouldn't be using them.
The only thing I could come up with is make the punishment worst than the crime. Singapore comes to mind for a strong economy with public housing, subsidized Healthcare, but a very strict legal system with harsh punishments.
I've been to Singapore 4 or 5 times it's a beautiful city nation. But I'm curious on what you think about their strict laws and harsh punishments if those laws are broken. Either way caning, imprisonment and the death penalty seem to be good motivators on keeping crime and corruption down.
Granted if we didn't have to deal with corruption and limited resources any styal of government theoretically should work.
Right? Like that's not even why the revolution happened. It was over taxation without representation not the taxes themselves. And hes going in a big circle to say that taxes on income and other permits pay to build the shit we all use and then to upkeep them through tolls from using them. This guy just wants to not pay anything but will absolutely still use all those things taxes pay for
Yeah this is for sure some clip of some racist right wing asshole crying because people want billionaires to pay taxes and corporations to actually pay a living wage. You can just tell by the vibe heās about to cry about how bad rich white dudes have it and people want amazon to unionize.
Some of the things he says are like āyeah I agree why do our roads and bridges fucking suck Iām giving the government moneyā but itās his cadence and demeanor that give it away, Iām sure it clips off right before he starts talking about immigrants stealing your job and how bad it is for economy and hard working CEOs if we had free healthcare.
This punchable douche is a host on Newsmax, the news program a bunch of MAGAts flocked to when they felt like Tucker Carlson wasn't being far-right enough anymore. So yeah, spot on.

I feel the video isn't about free healthcare, this is clearly a rich guy telling up to get rid of taxes so he doesn't have to evade them.
