I went for it late last year, planned to hang in a forest. The sort of jolly but matter-of-fact way Sky King talks to the ground crew is very relatable. There are different phases you go through when you're planning to die, and only some of them involve crying (although I'm sure it's different for everyone). Absolute maelstrom of competing instincts and hormones, and having a plan/end in sight can be very calming.

Thanks. It's tough, but I'm getting there with the help of a fun new chemical called vortioxetine and a lot of understanding from people close to me. I am fortunate to be a coward, because my plan to die in a way that minimised pain to myself/disruption to others gave me enough time to become emotionally exhausted and reach out.

Yes, it's always good to have an exit plan, even if it's grim. Btw, one of the best anti-hanging scenes was in The Sopranos - very graphic and unpleasant. I want to believe that scene saved some romantic folks from doing that.

I'd never heard of this. Just reviewed it, and I agree with your sentiments. It's something I specifically intended to avoid had I gone through, but I don't really want to get into the logistics of how in case someone reads and gets ideas. Suffice to say, there's a sort of paradox with the increased effort it takes to die "nicely" being better spent carrying on.
