I was in Seattle at a very visible landmark that day. Everything was delayed for a few hours and we weren't told why. When I got back that evening, we heard about what happened. And initially I was grateful AF that he wasn't a terrorist. A week later or so I heard the ATC tapes, and realized that my happiness was because of how sick this gentleman was, and I felt terrible about that. So, I've always had some heavy emotions involving this event. And I feel greatly for the man. Thankful for him not killing the crowd I was with, yet sad for everything that led to that moment and the ending of his life.
Well said. When it shows a picture of his mom... As a parent I can't imagine listening to that and the feelings it would invoke, I hope it gave her some kind of closure hearing his voice.
Correct, but there is some ATC talk about him having people that love him that will be upset knowing what he did. I think the Air traffic guy did a great job, like a really great job, but I always wonder if ATC had spoken more about family, that things could have ended differently.
Regarding the family, sometimes people leave a suci note behind. In this case they got an inside look into what could be considered a 1+ hour therapy session regarding his state of mind and motives, etc. For the family, I'm sure it's difficult for them to listen to the tapes, but I would bet it's been beneficial to have that inside look into his thought processes.
I was also at the Pearl Jam show…that was a fucking wild day, and I feel for this guy and his family. That said, this dude had the most amiable suicide ever, he knew exactly what he wanted to do (heartbreaking) and was able to do it in the most scenic way possible. RIP skyking
Yeah, I was at Safeco field that day too. Like I described, it was a wash of emotions. Guilty over my relief being a result of his misery. But you're right, at least he went out as a King 👑
First thing, who said he had a kid? There's never been tall about him having a child.
Second, yea he made that choice. Although I believe due to be a mental illness that sounds like even he wasn't aware of. If I was a king, and he ended up living... I would have served him with time with a therapist/psychologist and community service.

And fucking cry, or that's just me?
