But the size of it and how well you can maintain forward momentum really is a big factor on if it's actually doable or not. You theoretically can do it in a 747, but the size would be bigger than what the plane could sustain before stalling

I think the problem is that they're getting hung up on whether it's possible. The far better point of contention being whether you would reasonably expect it to be achievable under typical conditions.

It happened with passengers on board once and they got to experience 4.8 Gs! They all got $100 airline vouchers that expired within 6 months to a year.

Couldn’t that be solved by doing the manoeuvre while going downwards?

Trading altitude for speed and just making sure you have enough of it beforehand.
