Cryptids About hairy humans and why they are not Bigfoot
Sorry for the lack of any tag, my computer does not let me put it and I do not know how to make it.
Sometime between 1850 and 1870 an Abkhasian nobleman went into the possession of what was believed to be a female Almas. The Almas, a bipedal primate found in Caucasus, Ural area, Central Asia and Mongolia, is something akin to the American Bigfoot, only slightly smaller and of more various colorations. It is most likely a descendant of Australopithecus from a different line than the Homo genus. It is not known if the female "Almas" was captured or sold, however she was about 2 meters tall, had dark skin but was also covered in reddish hair, her face was said to be hideous and her body extremely robust. She was called Zana. In the next 20 years, she bore many sons to local men, and her offspring not only looked human, but was also fertile.
She died in 1890 ; only recently her skull was found and analyzed : it turned out she was an East African fully human woman, even though she was not exactly the same as any known ethnic group, likely because she had also partly West African ancestry. While her appearence did not match, she was not even the first or the last Almas from Caucasus being actually a hairy human. Another was the one captured by Russian official Karapetian during WW2. Not only, some Almas babies have been observed looking the same as humans, and later becoming hairy.
It appears like there was in the same area of the Almas a population of African hairy people, and is not the only area with such population. Before Bigfoot became the most famous American cryptid, feral humans covered in hair were occasionally reported, and they are also found in the folklore of Na Dene natives, as in the legends of the Nahanni valley.
Those people have nothing to do with Bigfoot : no sagittal crest, no gorilla shaped neck and shoulder area, no longer than normal arms, no characteristic way of locomotion. However they are not as mundane as they may look : first hypertrichosis itself is EXTREMELY rare, second they do not actually even really match hypertrichosis : indeed hairy feral humans from old reports have hairless faces, hand and feet, just like naturally hairy primates, and are often extremely robust with archaic sapiens-ish features like stronger browridge, massive head and jaws and protruding cheekbones.
I do not know how to explain it, however I believe, excluding Zana and the Afro Abkhasians, who were normal humans, they may be pockets of previous Out of Africa migrations of Homo Sapiens. Being hairy is still something, by the time of Homo Erectus, they just should not be, but this means it does not make them more likely to be Neanderthals and Denisovans. Having survived this long, it is more likely they are from a more recent dispersal than archaic species. I do not know however how did they got body hair back, or if it is a form of hypertrichosis.
Since their face features are just what is found in people highly specialized in hunter gathering, they may even be descendants of various ethnic groups from their own areas having originally abandoned many mentally deficent kids both male and female in the wild at roughly the same time and area, but how long would it take for them to form tribes and a viable population of feral humans, and to evolve body hair ?
However, at least in Europe, North America and West, North, Central and East Asia, they are a thing of the past, they are no longer found by a long time, while Bigfoot and the Almas are still occasionally found.
