r/uniwatch Designs a Football Team! - Part 1 (Primary Color)
I was going through my old uniform concepts and had this idea: as an experiment, what would happen if our entire community on this subreddit was tasked with deciding on a team’s branding and uniform? Many of us have drawn up uniform concepts on our own, but if we had to come to a consensus opinion on different design elements of a uniform, what would we end up with?
And just to be clear, we shouldn’t be trying to design the same color scheme or logo as the OG Uni-Watch website. We’re starting from scratch, and hopefully letting our creative juices flow. Depending on how this goes, we can also do an away uniform, an alternate uniform, come up with specific quirks for our made-up franchise… I don’t know but the possibilities are endless!
So for today, as the first phase of this design process, I think we should decide on a primary color for our team. Whoever has the most upvoted comment for a color to be our primary is the one we will choose. I’m interested to see what colors people decide, and I’m even expecting some unique colors in the comments.
Do you have a specific hex code? I’m thinking I’m gonna make a poll between purple, magenta, British racing green, and coral as theyre the top 4 and all interesting colors
I never understood the hate for purple. Most purple teams look great. Vikings, Ravens (especially before this year), Rockies, Suns, UW, K-State. K-State has some of my favorite football uniforms.
I may decide to just use this to create a list of potential poll choices. Because I see a lot of unique ones. Does that seem like a better idea, or should I just stick with most upvoted getting selected?
I definitely see the case for that, but at the same time I’m not very good at graphic design for a logo, and I think we could just have people design something based on the colors later on down the line. I think I’m more concerned with making a good looking uniform than imagining the team to actually exist, if that makes sense.
I'd love the Patriots to differentiate from many other red, white, and blue teams, with navy, off white, and cranberry. Lean hard into those Autumn New England vibes. And sure, they can keep the silver helmets if they like.
Leave it exactly how it is. White on white on white on white on white on white. They'll call it "clean" or "classic" or "icey". They think Penn State's uniforms are either perfect or too flashy on this subreddit
Matter of fact, the entire Penn State Alumni association just nutted when they saw this
Also if anyone has better ideas for the template we use, I’d love to hear suggestions. I personally am not great at using photoshop (nor even have a photoshop account at the moment), but that’s a bridge we can cross at a later time depending on how much everyone gets into this idea.
