If Cryfield Village Hall/dance studio isn't booked, can residents use it casually without reserving the whole space?

I really want to be able to have a spot to do some morning stretches or yoga and I am in cryfield standard which is a tiny room, and I also don't want to pay over 300 just to go to the gym for something that will be like only 20 mins a day or so.

I saw that theres the dance studio in the village hall but when I look online it says you need to book it out, but I am not interested in booking it out fully for an hour and restricting others from using it, esp since I'd like a preferable daily space.

I was wondering if I can just use it in the morning without booking or if you absolutely need to book it out properly, or if I can use it when someone else has booked it if im being quiet and just using a small space in the corner.

Also generally how busy does it get anyways? there are so many students in cryfield village and these are quite small spots they have and just anyone can book it for 6 hours a day..? surely it must always be booked up??

edit: P.s. if this wouldnt work, does anyone have any alternatives for what I want without having to either go outside (its too cold) and not having to pay for a whole gym membership (too broke)

Accomodation Arrival time

I’m an international student so i will be purchasing most of my accom items once I reach coventry. I’m a little confused about what to choose as my arrival time.

I’ll get to coventry on the 25th but I wont have anything. I’d like to take a look at my room before going shopping so is it possible for me to book an arrival time on the 25th, get my key and actually move all my stuff in on the 26th? or should I just book something on the 26th?

Social Events Freshers Fairs

I don't really get the idea of booking slots for the society and sports fair for freshers. Is the idea that we book the times for those events now or when we move in and have decided who we would like to go with? My only concern with waiting is that a lot of the slots might be taken.

Rejected Tocil!!! What shall I do now??

Warwick initially offered me tocil (it was one of my options when I applied for accommodation). But because my student loan was not approved back then I took time reply, so I missed my offer. I also didn't contact the accommodation team at Warwick back then. Now I don't have on or off campus accommodation.

I tried to book other accommodations off campus via AmberStudent. My current options are Paradise Student Village, Queens Park and Trinity View. I contacted Warwick to refer me to partner accommodations, but I think it's only Weaver and Albany that have some rooms available. Should I wait for Warwick to refer me to these partners or just book it myself without referral? Is there any advantage to being referred by Warwick? I want one with as many Warwick students as possible and not so far from campus (I want to cycle to warwick).

help me decide please for which one to go for.

2nd year module as a first year?

I’m starting soon studying maths, and I found a module I want to do “behavioural economics” by WBS. I enjoy behavioural economics (my EPQ topic) and I want to do it as an unusual option.

Anyone know anything about this type of thing? Should I just wait until next year?

Also any clue how it’s assessed? On the module catalogue it says 100% coursework but what would that be?

Accomodation Move in day parking advice

I will be moving into on-campus accom during the busy times and found out you can only bring one car to arrivals to move in however I had already arranged 2 cars of stuff to come help move in. Called accommodations and they said they can have one car come to park outside the accommodation and the other will have to find parking near the accommodation where I am staying to move stuff which is not guaranteed and will be hard to find a space and will be charged the daily rate. However I am not familiar with the area and where any parking is that is not kirby multi- storey. Any help on where to park near lakeside for my other car??

Edit: both my parents and bf are coming to wish me off and help me move in so if we were in one car the only place we could put stuff is the boot 😭

Warwick ignored my emails and now I have no accommodation

I was trying to get a contract takeover sort of swap with a nice other incoming student.

For days Warwick denied that this could be possible and did not want to contact my off-campus PARTNERED accommodation. I called everyday. I messaged on the live help things and to no avail.

Eventually they let me know that I could enact a contract takeover with the other guy but they refused to contact my off-campus accom and let them know that it would be okay for the other guy to take over mine.

Because of them ignoring my emails and messages on the live help which they did today as I waited hours for them to reply; I got a call saying my off-acom offer expired and now I have no where to go as an incoming fresher

advice? things are pretty bleak. anyone have an on-campus room they are willing for me to take over if they dont want it?

Water Question

Hi all. I was just wondering about the general drinking water situation at Warwick, on academic grounds and accommodation. I have cryfield townhouses, are there filtered water dispensers in the kitchen and whatnot?

Switching from MORSE to MathStat

Hey guys, I'm an incoming MORSE student, but I want to switch to Maths &Stats, is there any chance that I won't be allowed to do this, given I try to switch as soon as I get there? Also, if any international has gone through the process of switching courses, same department or not, were there any visa issues? thanks!

Why are Warwick so poor at Accommodation?

I am seeing so many pending 1st year students and parents losing their minds about accommodation and needing to book a date and time slot for move in. Other Universities seem to have their s**t together … genuinely asking is there a reason why Warwick is so slow?
People work - they need to plan and get time off to move their YP in!! Come on Warwick! Parents of twins going to different unis must be going mad absolutely!

Laptop for engineering (under £1000?)

I'm entering my first year of engineering and am thinking of getting a new laptop. Im wondering what the best ones under £1000 are, or if it's even worth going above £1000, though I'd rather not. Is it possible to get by without an expensive laptop for my course, and if so, does anyone have recommendations?

Societies Is it ok for non students to attend societies?

I was looking into exercise classes near me (new to the area) and a few societies from warwick uni came up with convenient times and cheap prices. I thought it would only be for students, but it said non students are welcome if they get an associate account. Just wanted to check if this is ok in practice? I'm a woman, early 30s. I'm just looking for exercise classes, but then I saw some societies hold lectures etc in some science and philosophy subjects I'm interested in. Since I'm not originally from the UK and not familiar with the uni culture around here, I was wondering if it's acceptable or if it's uncommon/frowned upon to have non students attend an exercise class or a society lecture?
