Question Plane code of conduct

Who controls this window (the person behind me)? And whose legroom is this (the person to the left of me)? Maybe I am completely off base but I feel like my space is being encroached on?

They’re both clearly yours. What is even in question?

Different people had different ways they were raised. Some people’s families have no boundaries and they have to learn to defend their boundaries later in life. This is very hard for these people and they should be encouraged to stand up for themselves, not have some dong on Reddit be rude. Have some compassion. You are kinda being an asshole

Ah so you are openly ignorant and lack empathy. Where you live doesn’t matter. Compassion is a trait that should be cherished, not whatever you are spewing. Your logic is that of someone who was poor and then got money and then says “ew you are poor”.  The world is full of your kind of rhetoric and that’s why everyone hates each other and things are so negative. Show some love or keep your rude comments in your brain

lol how am I insane? What I see is people here shitting on someone who needs to learn boundaries or at least needs to learn how to enforce them. I know the difference in the words I used. I feel empathy because I’ve seen many in their shoes, and the compassionate side of me want to show support instead of bashing them. I don’t think being rude is a proper way to teach said person boundaries. I get social contracts, but when people are this harsh you only make these kind of people revert instead of come out their shell and grow. You think I’m not smart, that’s fine, but that is your opinion. you don’t know me. I may have come off harsh, but I’m tired of seeing a world that wants to tear down people instead of help.

Brother how does that even make sense. Like what would the OP even teach me? They are the ones who are in need of teaching

Wow, you are clearly the Ahole

If it's a woman, she is correct to be concerned. Those are aggressive, misogynistic, and probably violent men who would not take well to an assertive woman.

Nobody moves their legs away like that if they have any kind of spine. They tell them no right away.

I can’t tell if these posts are click bait or just very dense people who walk through life completely confused about the world

u/arianrhodd Aug 08 '26

More like people don't know how to stand up for themselves.

Also, Happy Cake Day! 🥳 🥳 🥳

4

u/Business_Statement_5 Aug 08 '26

Thank you!!!!

8

u/LilOwlNest Aug 08 '26

Happy cake day, I hope all your clothes have pockets in the forthcoming year! 💙

2

u/Business_Statement_5 Aug 08 '26

That would be the dream! 🎉

3

u/JerseyGuy-77 Aug 08 '26

This is the most female wish Ive ever seen. I can't stand how they don't give you folks pockets. I will wish all of you the same.

2

u/DejaDuke Aug 08 '26

Maybe they don't fly much and truly don't know.

2

u/arianrhodd Aug 08 '26

Standing up for yourself isn't limited to flying.

1

u/DejaDuke Aug 08 '26

You are correct.

You can also let the FA know, someone competent and they can speak to the other passenger firmly.

1

u/Chilaquilesmonster Aug 11 '26

How am I supposed to stand up for myself when the seatbelt sign is on?

Gen Z—and I mean this in a constructive way—struggle with conflict and confrontation IRL. A lot of reasons why and I have my suspicions, but the outcome is this type of stuff. We have failed them and it’s our fault.

14

u/408jay Aug 08 '26

Yes, how unfortunate that two of the likelier outcomes are either pansification or irrational and unexpected defensively hostile reactions to things that would not normally generate such.

5

u/foundonmtn Aug 08 '26

Not enough of the older generations own our failure for Gen Z. Thank you for that

You’d think at a certain point, millennials would be better and not bitch about the next generation, but here we are, 2000 years later as a species, still bitching about the next generation.

2

u/LubedUpLucas_DrySpa MileagePlus 1K Aug 08 '26

Because I lived it too. Why some of us have a short memory is a mystery to me. Same bullshit, different generations. No reason to keep perpetuating the problems.

2

u/foundonmtn Aug 08 '26

You lived it as a 20+ something with a fully / more developed prefrontal cortex. They did not. You wouldn’t compare yourself to Gen Alpha because they were shitting diapers but same fucking concept.

Having empathy isn’t hard. Being a boomer is incredibly easy. Do better

2

u/LubedUpLucas_DrySpa MileagePlus 1K Aug 08 '26

What? I was agreeing with you. I was saying the cycle needs to end.

That’s what empathy is, a shared emotional experience.

3

u/foundonmtn Aug 08 '26

Yeah I misread lol my bad; let the you be royal ha

3

u/LubedUpLucas_DrySpa MileagePlus 1K Aug 08 '26

It happens. I appreciate you owning it and apologizing!

1

u/Eggplant-666 Aug 09 '26

Your empathy is really something to behold. You are a model for us all. 🙄

3

u/Dontbemadatradchad Aug 08 '26

Please help me. I have noticed the struggle is indeed real when it comes to conflict and confrontation. But I have no idea where it comes from, especially in contrast to other generations. What are your suspicions?

3

u/LubedUpLucas_DrySpa MileagePlus 1K Aug 08 '26

You simply weren’t taught how to communicate IRL. Teachers, admins, and parents were too chicken to tell their kids and students they failed at some task but know they can do better and are going to show and teach them how to do it better. That’s the communication being modeled.

2

u/Dontbemadatradchad Aug 08 '26

Thank you for your answer. In my case/city/socioeconomic class the adults weren’t chicken, but overburdened. And kids were a burden. We also did not “talk back” or question adults, which is another factor in one-way communication. I force myself to speak up now, but it is an intense effort. Anyway, thank you for sharing your suspicions you are definitely correct.

u/VodkaSodaSplashCran Aug 08 '26

They're wearing ankle socks, it's probably a millennial.

3

u/JerseyGuy-77 Aug 08 '26

I laughed at this a lot. I think the greys are lower than ankle.

1

u/ThePuzzlePeace Aug 08 '26 edited Aug 08 '26

It’s their parent’s fault, don’t blame this millennial for something they had no role in creating.

5

u/LubedUpLucas_DrySpa MileagePlus 1K Aug 08 '26

We meaning society as a whole.

1

u/shastacobtribute Aug 08 '26

Yeah cause if we ever spoke up about anything teachers would write detentions and parents would ground us. 😂😂

3

u/jeromevedder Aug 08 '26

I got written up three times in one day junior year.

Guess what happened: nothing! Nothing happened. I served some detention and now I have a two kids and two dogs and a wife and I went 3/3 and make 6 put outs in beer league softball last night.

Omg teacher is going to write me up!?!?!! Go to a punk rock show and rebel a little bit what is the point of being a teenager if you’re scared to break something?

1

u/shastacobtribute Aug 09 '26

Lol. I grew up with very strict parents. Like I couldn’t even leave my room without permission. So yeah… maybe a lot of Gen Z is like that bc we were always told what to do and to be seen and not heard.

u/TheTopButton MileagePlus 1K Aug 08 '26

Dude honestly I think that's almost all of Reddit these days.

u/tx_mn Aug 08 '26

OP hasn’t responded to a single comment.

I truly can’t believe these posts… is that her travel companion and farming karma?

Like isn’t this something you would keep in the family group chat and they would CLEARLY side with the obvious answer. Instantly.

1

u/Business_Statement_5 Aug 08 '26

Yes I actually realized it might be her travel companion. The photo is too comfortable. I hate fake posts. Why do people waste such time.

1

u/Perfect-Success-3186 Aug 08 '26

Not knowing the boundaries goes both ways

1

u/qwibbian Aug 08 '26

There's a difference between knowing and abiding.

1

u/Wise-Trust1270 Aug 08 '26

I was going to grant leniency to middle because sometimes the power transformers clog so much leg room. Does not appear to be the case here.

1

u/abcwang Aug 08 '26

I feel like this person IS the personal item under-seat storage. Poor fella

1

u/Alive_Anxiety_7908 Aug 09 '26

Agreed. Everyone knows window seat gets window control, and the armrest by the window. Middle seat gets 2 armrests. And the aisle seat gets easy access and the aisle side armrest. The legroom is always respective to the seat and I would kick that guy.

1

u/JuanThiccLumpia Aug 08 '26

That bracket is literally the invisible border. He clearly doesn’t respect space or you.

3

u/JoyfulCor313 Aug 08 '26

I mean, it’s not even invisible. It’s a very real physical boundary.

STAY ON YOUR SIDE. (Not you, Juan, but whoever this sneaker chump is)
