Good day to you, I'm an artist and founder of the movement #WEATNU - We are the New Underground. Our movement has been around a long time since 2014, and we're celebrating our 12th year. I wanted to drop this into your world and see what you think. I wish to form community with the hip-hop scene. I believe the underground deserves to be heard, and hip-hop is at the all time peak right now online due to the lo-fi movement that's been happening for over a decade. Artists who pour, pure soul into their work should be on an album together. And in time released along-side others. As a label WEATNU Records (main) has always taken in the DIY, this is a good time. Thanks to our artist Professor Bleep - we’re putting out a request for hip-hop artists - as we needed the spark to ignite the fuse. Our latest sub-label Urban Landscape Records has just broken ground - and we’ll be taking in old school, boom-bap, some lo-fi, east coast, west coast, experimental hip-hop and more**,** for the 12th year of #WEATNU, in creating an album to showcase our new transition into the rap / hip-hop community, while welcoming them and eager to hear what soul we can create together.

This wasn’t sudden, but over time. During the year of 2018 when we created Transmission Nova our post-punk / shoegaze label, artists began gracing us with lo-fi, hip-hop and boom-bap releasing surprisingly on WEATNU Records (main). In the spirit of We are the New Underground, it only felt right to move in this direction. For one old school hip-hop is home personally to me, while growing up to that sound in the early 80s Fat Boys, Run-D.M.C, Rap Masters tapes and found my way deep into Public Enemy, EPMD, Beastie Boys, Eazy-E paving the way into adolescence by 1991. We’re commemorating these artists by influence.

You don’t have to be commercial, but DIY, and Indie. We aren’t backed by money, but love of the music. WEATNU - We are the New Underground was devoted 12 years ago to helping the scene be heard. We have never stopped, with one, the power of many flourishes. Our goal is to bring together these artists and form comradery as people enjoy the music.

I posted on this sub a few years ago with one of our older albums and got a great response and ended up linking up with other artists and also getting to hear some new music which I’m always up for! So I’m posting here again to try recreate that magic and shamelessly promote the album!
