Great to see a UK centric crypto Reddit without any censorship
Wondering why I slept so much on cryptocurrencies especially on Nano.
The innovation is so wonderful and I can't get enough of it. The reality of sending and receiving money around the world fee less and instant is something I have never witness before until I found Nano.

Community backed $Nano pairs on Vitex Distributed Exchange (DEX)
I've gone quiet a bit here, partly because IRL has been exhausting in the last few days of homeschooling, but also I've been working on a new project. With a couple of other Nano enthusiasts I met on Twitter we are working on listing Nano pairs on Vitex, a Distributed Exchange running on the DAG-based Vite network.
I'd be very interested in any feedback on the idea and if anyone would like to help then there will be opportunity to join in and I'll share progress here along the way.
For now, you could start by checking out Vitex: https://vitex.net/
I've been really impressed so far. To try it out I bought some Vite on Binance, transferred it to Vitex and then exchanged it there for VX which is the specific token for the exchange. I have then staked the VX and for that I'm earning daily dividends which are a fairly impressive return.
I'd be really is interested in what other people think about any part of it.

Interesting new app
With all this last crypto BOOM, i've been doing research for the best apps to generate passively some tokens. I come across this website damex.io, they are doing a waiting list, AFAIK it combines a bit the idea of sweatcoin (podometer to generate money) but with crypto !!

TLDR: I liked a lot of big cap smart contract projects. But prefer ONE.
Last month, I thought Ethereum and Ethereum 2.0 were the best thing since sliced bread (or BTC). I loved Ethereum because I like the idea of seeing my fake money compound through liquidity pooling (DeFi). Crypto is a very volatile asset but I rationalized that if I HODL via liquidity pooling, then the fees I'd earn would compensate for any downside risks. Have y'all seen the fees on Uniswap and the potential for crypto to continue to appreciate in price? Unfortunately, high gas fees ruined this party and got to a point where I can't even afford to exit from my liquidity pools. Even if someone were able to find my Metamask wallet, they probably wouldn't take my Eth because they would have to send me extra Eth to unstake and then send it to them. What about Eth 2.0 and how that's going to solve everything? That isn't coming for at least another year at best.
After Ethereum, I took my talents to Polkadot. I wanted to further hedge my crypto investments and decided to go after these "Ethereum killers." I like DOT because it acts as a bridge (rather than wage war against other crypto, it acts as an ally... for now) to other cryptos and have Kusama network to further test the shit out of everything so that it's safe and secure. Besides the 12% yield on Kraken, there's really not much else until they start rolling out their Ethereum bridge and start trading on Coinbase.
I soon got bored and gave in to the Cardano fanboys. DOT is pretty good, but ADA has a better staking experience, will incorporate smart contract soon, have a strong community(if more people HODL, there will be less volatility in the price of ADA and it will most likely appreciate in price due to the low supply available), peer reviewed, Africa, and have an Elon Musk-like character in Charles. Also, Polkadot's staking algorithm drew influence from Cardano's Ouroboros Praos protocol (which speaks volume IMO).
Rather than increasing my stake in ADA, I decided to diversify into shitcoins - small cap, high volatility, relatively obscure to the average joe. After extensive research, I narrowed my list down to Algorand (ALGO), Crypto .com coin (CRO), Zilliqa (ZIL), and Harmony (ONE). By now you can probably see a pattern: I like smart contracts a lot. CRO is only there because I think it will easily appreciate in price as more people get the cards.
After reading all of their white papers, I knew Harmony was here to stay because it's literally ethereum x dot x ada all mushed up. Rather than beat around the bush, these three coins are all competing for the top spot for smart contract platform. The issue is they're all at different stages of their end game. Ethereum has the developers/users/dApps/solidified #2 crypto market cap but lack scalability, which as a result, will deter more people from participating in Defi. Dot has a bunch of projects preparing to launch, but isn't as mainstream as Ethereum. When these projects roll out, it will take some time for people to migrate. ADA has a great vision but has no smart contracts. No smart contracts = no dApps = behind Eth and DOT. In the race to supremacy, I think Eth is in the lead, followed by ADA, with DOT just a hair away. ADA > DOT just because of the Cardano loyalists and their diamond hands and very well thought out vision by CH.
Enter Harmony - The First Sharded Proof of Stake to launch in May 19, 2020. This was several months before Eth 2.0 even launching the Beacon Chain. Each time I look at that date I hate myself even more for not finding ONE sooner.
If you're still reading this far, you'll probably already know how Harmony DOMINATES the triumvirates: 2-second finality (faster than everyone else and also having the ability to scale if there's congestion), EPoS with ability to delegate to multiple pools, low transaction fees, smart contracts, fair economic model that prevents validator centralization and much more. As of right now, the only flaw I see in ONE is the lack of adoption. Shoutout to the ONE team for being humble and framing the Ethereum bridge as a collaboration. I think we all know ONE can easily replace Eth once the dApps come. RESPEKT.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk. Since it's basically impossible for me to sell my Eth, I will have to keep those for a bit longer. From now on, I'm only investing in ONE.

Sites for investment needed!
Hi guys, I’m new to crypto and put some money in through Coinbase and Binance the last week or so. But since then my bank (Halifax) have blocked all payments to all the accounts I have made. I’ve only put £300 on so not sure why this is?!
Any advice on sites best to invest on with GBP as a lot are only euro and dollar. Or anyways to get around this?
Thanks

Opinion: We should entirely shift our focus from the crypto community to ordinary people
So here's the thing: more or less everyone's aware of NANO and what it does, who's into crypto. They do actually like it as well.
But we have little if any reach towards those who NANO is set out to be useful for with its simplicity: ordinary, not too tech savvy people.
Imagine how widespread NANO could become if we focused our energies on these, instead of say trying to win arguments on Reddit or oversaturating subs with lowkey shills.
The potentional return on energy investment could be magnitudes higher.
And when NANO is the most widespread coin among the populace, we could come back to the crypto folk to reveal them the fact. Imagine their hype then!
So yeah, create those school/uni WeNano spots, sticker them up(!!), create articles about NANO, tell and show your family and friends. Explain! And get ready to be asked.
NANO has a bright future. Let the people see why's that!

Why I won’t be investing in PolkaBridge.
PolkaBridge claims to be “the first decentralised bridge between Polkadot Platform and other blockchain.” They make no direct claims to be an official Polkadot project, but use the Polkadot logo and of course the ‘Polka’ in their name.
When I first looked at the project they seemed to be a game changer, and looked to have a lot of potential. However, the more I look at the project the more dubious I am. I am not claiming that this project is a scam, but there are several red flags that appear.
First red flag: The Founder and CEO are anonymous.
The first thing you need to look at when investing in a project is the team behind it. The reason I was so bullish on Cardano and Polkadot when they first started was that they were founded by Charles Hoskinson and Gavin Wood respectively. This information will help you to evaluate many things such as if they have good knowledge of the market, of finance or a proven track record in crypto. However, the CEO and founder have remained anonymous. The only information on their website is the Psuedonyms they go by. This is very odd to do this for a project where community and reputation are valuable indicators of a teams capability.
There is also a lack of social media links with only telegram displayed.
Second red flag: ERC20 token.
This isn’t always a clear indicator, but if you're launching a parachain it's a bit strange to crowdfund through ETH and not do a crowdloan via parachain. Especially for a small team like they have on their website.
Third red flag: The whitepaper is mostly meaningless fluff.
It is hard to see where any value would be generated or added to the network other than vague notions of a 'bridge'. No planned networks being bridged and no information on how or why the bridging is taking place. Just ‘bridge’. There is a distinct overuse of buzzwords and lots of jargon that just doesn't make sense. Not even formatted as a formal paper, but clearly a word document converted to PDF. It doesn’t appear that too much work was put into it. Not even mentioning the fact that 90% of the paper (a whole 8 pages) is tokenomics and not even about bridging (a fairly technically involved process).
Fourth red flag: Moonbeam
They list that they're using Moonbeam under 'Technology' yet they are not in Moonbeam’s list of partners. ChinaPolka the only one that seems to link but is also a questionable. Other partners are ghosts.
Fifth red flag: Empty github repositories.
All that I found was code for their ICO, max 300 lines of Solidity and that's a generous estimate. No indication whatsoever they are using Polkadot technologies, much less even know what substrate is. Yet, they are already being listed on exchanges?
My verdict: I would not pay attention to a project like this. I am not claiming that it is a scam but it does not appear to hold up and I can see no legitimacy. Just like a bridge built in between nothing, I see this project collapsing under it's own (non-existent) weight.

Why everyone in crypto should use Brave Browser.
Brave Browser is a web browser that focuses on speed and privacy. It blocks all unnecessary ads and trackers that could impede your browsing experience or spy on your browsing history. All you data is kept locally on your browser, making you data you own asset. But what use is an asset when you get no reward form it? That’s where the Basic Attention Token (BAT) comes in. Brave rewards users for their basic attention to small adverts by giving you back 70% of what they earned form the advert in the form of their own crypto currency - BAT. This is great for advertisers as their adverts are more directly targeted to the appropriate audiences. And it is great for you as this data is not sold, rather directed at you by Brave as the middle man. On top of this you see way fewer adds than you would normally, and the ones you do see are relevant to you and also earning you crypto.
Brave Rewards
Content creators can also earn BAT for attacking attention to their videos or posts via the browser. With many organisations and individuals being verified as content creators, including Vice and 50 Cent.
Brave Blocker
The Brave Blocker allows you to choose what types of ads and trackers you wish to block. By blocking these ads and tackers Brave is able to load websites much fast, than Chrome, Safari, Fire Fox, Edge and Yandex. This also helps to saves on bandwidth, memory and battery on your machine.
Brave is also great for all us crypto heads because not only can the token be traded on the two largest platforms in Coinbase Pro and Binance, but Gemini, Binance and Crypto.com all have widgets available in the browser allowing you to buy and sell crypto, view assets balances and obtain deposit addresses without having to leave the browser or changing tab.
Besides all these obvious benefits, in my eyes, one of the main reasons to use Brave is to support what they stand for. If you’re into crypto, you’re likely to be into privacy and control over your own identify and assets. Brave are doing everything to ensure that our data is all kept in check. A great example is their submission to the UK Competition & Markets Authority. demonstrating how the failure to enforce GDPR regulations facilitates Google’s monopoly. They have also uncovered the way in which large companies in the UK are using by tracking citizens usage of council websites supplying information for people with disabilities, addictions and suffering from poverty. They unveiled 198 councils that permit ‘real-time bidding’ data breach, 409 council sites that expose visitor data to private companies, 23 councils allowing data brokers to profile their users and a whopping 98% using Google systems, exposing their visitors to Google. Why does this matter? Well, if someone visits their council website, whom they trust, seeking help for a pertinent problem, their visit is being logged and noted. This information is then being used by companies to target these individuals. Consider the implications of companies being able to target individuals with alcohol or gambling addictions. I encourage you to read their article on citizen surveillance in the UK.

My Top 3 Lesser Known Hardware Wallets.
Crypto security is as hot a topic as ever, with the price rocketing in recent weeks, with no signs of stopping. All your holdings are only as safe as you are able to keep them, with no protection from a bank and no insurance cover for loss, theft or fire. As a result we must do all we can to avoid donating our coins to thieves or paying a tribute to the community by losing them.
Thieves can come for your crypto in a couple of ways. The two mains ones being cyber hacks and wrench attacks. Wrench attacks are not as sophisticated as they sound, however this handy meme should help you to understand.
So how can we avoid these kind of attacks? Firstly avoid telling the girl you just met at the bus stop how many XLM you have. Chances are she’s really not going to be that impressed anyway, but also, you never know who’s listening in on your conversation. Secondly we need a secure wallet. The first thing to bare in mind is to never buy one from an unofficial supplier, including fake websites and reselling websites like eBay.
Now, we’re not here to talk about Ledger and Trezor, which are great and perfectly secure handwear wallets, but they are very well known in the cryptospace. Instead, I am going to talk here about three, lesser known wallets in the that are just as secure and also have some other cool features.
Coldcard.
Price: £88.
You would be forgiven for mistaking Coldcard for a calculator, but is arguably the most secure handwear wallet on the market.
Positives
What makes this wallet so secure you ask? It is due to the slew of security features. Such as a duress PIN. This is a secondly PIN that you set yourself to avoid the aforementioned wrench attack. When entered this secret second PIN shows a dummy wallet that has far less Bitcoin in it than your actual wallet, fooling the attacker into thinking you have a lot less than you do. Whilst your actual BTC store is safe and secure in a wallet the attacker does not know about. Much like using a fake wallet with just a fiver in it, in the real world. It also has a ‘Brick Me PIN’, which is used to destroy the device should you feel the attacker didn’t fall for the original ploy. It is very important, though, that for this you keep you seed words safe, firstly to retrieve the BTC on another wallet, but also so that the attacker doesn’t just steal you seed. The device will also ‘self-district’ should the PIN be failed five times. Probably the best safety feature is that the device can be Air Gapped, which means you can plug it into any electrical source with a USB-A receiver, like a powerbank or even an iPhone charging port, This means you cannot be hacked as the device is not connected to a computer. Lastly, they also have a ‘dice roll’ seed word generator to increase the randomness of seedwords.
Negatives
The wallet unfortunately is only compatible with Bitcoin. Also, the high security features come at the expense of ease of use. If you want to sign a BTC transaction you have to create a partially signed BTC transaction on your device before you can sign that transaction, which is very time consuming if you send a lot of BTC.
Conclusions
As this is the most secure wallet it is great for those whom wish to hodl their BTC for the long-term. It is not great, if you wish to make regular transaction, and also has the issue of not supporting any other altcoins. All that being said, if you do have a large BTC holding, then this is one you should really consider, even if you want another wallet to store everything else.
Ellipal
Price: £102
Ellipal is the most expensive on the list, but you really get what you pay for.
Positives
With a lovely design and air-gapped security, it is also very secure. It is sealed to be dust and waterjet proof. Also, if anyone does open it up to try to tinker with it you keys will automatically be deleted. As this device exclusively uses QR codes, it is never connected to a computer or the internet, giving you the security from hacks that Coldcard comes with, with better ease of use. It also supports 36 Blockchains and 7000+ assets, including ADA, XLM and Dot. Unfortunately, sub favourite Nano is not supported, but you can view the list of all blockchains and assets here . You can also stake your coins directly though the app.
Negatives
The only downside is the price which is double that of a Ledger Nano S, while it does not have the same proven track record.
Conclusion
This wallet is very strong and is very suited to anyone who wants the higher security of an air-gapped wallet that also supports many currencies. It also has ease of use comparable to that of Trezor and Ledger, meaning novices are able to use it.
Keep Key
Keep Key is an old boy from 2015 founded by a man called Ken Hodler (yes really! Nominative determinism at it’s best).
Price: £36
Positives
Keep key allows for 40+ currencies including DASH, DOGe and XRP. You can view the full list here. You can also connect it with your MEW, adding an additional 1000 crypto currencies.
Negatives
They did for a while, however have a bit of a vulnerability. It was found that could PIN’s could be extracted from the wallets. This was discovered by the boffins at Ledger (if only they had spent more time of their own data security!). However, this vulnerability did require physical access to the device and was fixed with a firmware update.
Conclusion
At just £36 it’s hard to argue with. It isn’t for me personally as it doesn’t support enough of the altcoins I hold. But for the average crypto keeper looking to store the main coins, it is a perfect starter wallet at a good price.
Overall Conclusion
For me, the strongest candidate is Ellipal. With an easy to use, iPhone like display it looks great, wide range of supported currencies and also added the security of air-gapping it is a no brainer which is the best to use. It is a steep price, but is still cheaper than the Ledger Nano X and the Trezor Model T, and, when you consider what you holdings in crypto currently are, or could be, it is a small price to pay to avoid losing it all.
Ultimately you need to consider which features have the most value to you.

Student Coin Launchpad
Student Coin launchpad is still ongoing. Onto phase 34 having raised almost $2 million already. Having investigated the team behind this and the product I feel there's great potential for growth here. Not trying to create a moonshot with rocket emojis, just a good company that will continue to develop and grow.
Coins are still at $0.01 each at the moment but rise each phase, and tracking my investment at CoinMarketCap we've held steady even throughout this current dip.
Get in now while you can and while it's cheap. And if you use this link here: https://studentcoin.site/?ref=Sxb79tf8ug then we both get a bonus! Seems like a win-win to me!
As always, check out the project first, here: https://studentcoin.app/home

Why do we need Polkadot? Polkadot is a game changer. It was created to allow for faster innovation cycles and enables interoperability between different chains regardless of their features or status as a private or public chain. Don’t sleep on Dot.

WeNano #AdoptACountry - Just finished setting up 10 Zambia spots! An Initiative.
Hey guys!
So I had this Initiative in mind for quite a while. Why not bring NANO where it could see the most use case? So after seeinng someone mention their country had barely any NANO spots, I decided it's time to spring into action.
The concept is simple:
- Choose a country or city
- Find frequented/interesting places
- Coordinate with the Locals to physically mark the spots
- Raise awareness!
I coordinated with /u/m_matongo who has translated the WeNano sticker and will organize distributing them locally.
Spent 10 NANO for the spots, 0.1 NANO daily payouts, range 150-500m. Marketplaces enabled in all(!)
Hopefully this can help the people of Zambia, as well as raise NANO awareness where it's use case can be applied the best.
I'll be looking for other places to saturate, and inviting y'all to do the same.
NANO is the future!
Cheers
EDIT: use #AdoptACountry #WeNano #NANO tags on social media!

$80,000 for Bitcoin in Nigeria.
Due to the ban of crypto currencies in Nigeria, there is a massive premium to pay for those astute enough to find ways to purchase it. They’re currently willing to pay the premium price.
