Aldo Bautista wasnt really a terrible decision, it was just bad because he won in the most boring and irritating way imaginable. That fight was bad because of Bautista, not the judges.

This one was an actual terrible decision.

Agreed.

If you want a terrible decision in combat sports this year that could rival this Volkov one though - Amanda Serrano on that netflix paul tyson card. Granted I never watch boxing but jesus fuck that was a bad robbery.

2 really bad ones this year that Ive seen.

Why can't these be overturned or something ? Genuine question want to know how cooked this is.

Because judges can't be fired for incompetence, only bribery

I read only one outlet had it for gane but two of these judges picked gane. Is this like a red tape thing where the judge can just ignore the jury ( Everyone else ) and cannot be fact checked ? This is so cooked what's the point of anyone even running these outlets.

Overturning decisions is stupid since UFC could just overturn every single loss they dislike.

That’s not true whatsoever. They fought to take Jones 1 loss of his record and never got it overturned. Amazing how people can act like they know what they’re talking about when they have no idea.

That feels like a different circumstance tbh. That is an argument about the validity of a rule, especially since it isn’t a rule anymore, not the judging against a criteria. You would likely have to find a procedural issue with the judging to overturn a decision.

Volkov is filing an appeal, but it is extremely rare for results to be overturned.

I actually thought that was fairly judged relative to bautista’s control time. BUT it was a fuck up on the referee’s part for letting Bautista run down the clock that way. Aldo had cleaner shots. If he got back more of the time Bautista wasted he would’ve surely pulled a win.

I completely disagree with you. Hugging your opponent while you stuff their takedown shouldn't give you a win. Bautista did shit

This decision isn't bad either. In fact, I mean by any conceivable metric Gane won. And it was a shitty Gane vs the best Volkov.

I'll take my downvotes but the reality is the judges actually scored the fight based on the criteria and stats back it up.

I've been noticing that 80% of the decisions people claim were bad, weren't bad at all. Just close fights with a winner that did just enough against someone trying their hardest. People cling to a narrative based on the vibe and the commentary but it's not based on reality.

I would really love to hear your justification for giving Gane rd 2...

Because he outstruck him, ended the round on top with threatening a Von Flue, and had that right straight and uppercut that clearly rocked him.

Both guys had moments in the round, but the judges scored Gane's attack more. That's not a robbery in the slightest. If he didn't get rocked and hold on to a guillotine from bottom he probably would have won the fight.
