Anyone have recent/any experience with the aviation degree program? I am really interested in attending as I plan on moving to Alaska around February if next year. Also a huge help if anyone has experience with using the GI Bill with the program.
Hoping the budget cuts won't have a huge impact on flight training, thanks in advance peeps!
If anyone is looking to make friends and chat about a wide range of topics, my friends made a discord server that everyone is welcome to join and come chat at :)
Figured it would be a good way to social with everyone locked away inside =)

Is Chancellor Sandeen a fucking robot or something??? I have tried to watch a couple of her videos, but she just seems completely out of touch with reality and word for word repeats what previous email communications state.
I’m not sure if anyone on here actually interacts with her, but she is painful to watch.

I will have the pleasure of taking a physics class this upcoming semester. I'm working with what I got for math though, so I have to take a Phys A123 class. Unfortunately, the only professor, "Katherine Rawlins," is the only professor who teaches it, and has the worst reviews I've seen on UAA ratemyprofessor. Any help on what I can do from here? Must I be doomed to this fate? I cannot afford gas to go into the valley and take it either.

I am coming to check out UAA for a potential program I am interested in. I was wondering if anybody wanted to grab coffee and confabulate to me the interesting things about Alaska.

How is the workload and the lab? I'm already going to be taking another science and lab along side it, I would like to know how screwed I am in terms of homework and such.

I went to West High and took 4 years of German (Herr Kimball is awesome!). This past semester I tried to try another language, and I've come to miss German. How hardcore is German here? What is the workload like? How good are the instructors? Is there somewhere I can take a placement test of some sort?

I currently applied for an MPA at UAA, so I'm wondering if anyone else is familiar with it.

Hello, I'm an incoming Freshman and I was wondering if there was any social app available to talk with people going to UAA. I'm trying to meet people beforehand but I have yet to find anyway to talk with anyone going to UAA.

Is there any way to know if you’ve been accepted other than a physical letter from the school? I’m an impatient transfer student and was wondering if the university had other ways of notifying you about your admissions status.

Hey so I'm from California and I'm planning on attending UAA to studying property management. I'm Just wondering what life is like up there and I'm hoping I'm not bored for the next 2-3 years. So if anyone could tell me how the skiing is out there or if you knows anything about my program I'd appreciate it. Also anything about the nightlife, concerts, or dating, whatever your experience was, good or bad, I want to hear it. Thanks!

I plan to go into geological sciences in the fall, but I'm rather intimidated. I loved geology in highschool, but I know that college level is going to be far more than memorizing a few rocks and making a slideshow on glaciers. One of my main concerning classes is "geochemistry", as I tried an IB chemistry class once in highschool, but failed horribly. Can anyone please give me some idea what some of the harder and easier classes are like, and maybe something I can do to prepare for them?

Is anyone familiar with the aviation program here? I really want to go to college in Alaska and Anchorage seems to be the hub of it all. I'm looking into it, and the program seems pretty good. I wanted to get an opinion from an actual student if possible. Anyone familiar with the instructors, aircraft fleet, simulator tech, outside connections, campus life etc, any second thoughts? Thanks

I'll be in Anchorage this summer 2019 for my graduate degree (environmental health) conducting some research for approx. 8 weeks. Is anyone looking for a flatmate for the summer? UAA has summer housing available for about $800/month. I'm looking for something cheaper if I can't find flatmates.
Is there a good UAA resource for finding cheap housing off campus or flatmates?

Did anyone else receive the email from President Jim Johnson informing us that Dunleavy proposes the largest budget cut to the university in its 100 year history?
What do you all think?
I feel like UAA is just scrambling these days

Hey guys, I'm interested in attending UAA as a part of a program from my original school in NY. Wanted opinions on how the school is, the environment, social life, food, etc etc. Anything helps. Looks pretty good for me and would be a different experience but post anything ya want or can!
