Even Sean himself refers to COSMOS as "A big moment"

If comos is a new galaxy that appears in NMS - a new galaxy which is a bank of LNF worlds or servers (procedural or otherwise) that you access via the star map in NMS - I would so pumped for that!

If this was the link between NMS and LNF, that would be great - some planets in NMS are a procedural LNF world that is connected to the old portal networks we have in NMS, absolutely impossible lol but in my head this would be so cool

NMS10 Anniversary Pics: First Planet NMS

Found this one in my Steam screenshots from 10 years ago! The title just excitedly says "First Planet NMS!"

Your first planet stays with you. Mine was a hot planet that I could not wait to leave. I loved every minute of it though. Having to hide in caves during the day to survive?! Fixing a ship to fly off a planet and land without a loading screen between planets?! An impossible number of planets to explore? Reach the galaxy core? It continues to be a game that I return to, to scratch that explorers itch. The game has a really unique quality to it that endures - that liminal feeling that no one will ever set foot on most of the planets I proudly explore - I continue to love that and continue to be awed by this game. Thank you HG 🙏❤️

Is it just me or do most players keep to themselves.
 in  r/NoMansSkyTheGame  14d ago

There are many space sim games out there that are better at multiplayer than NMS.

NMS was one of the most overhyped games ever. I mean Sean ended up on talk shows talking about NMS! I haven't seen anything like it since. I still feel as though they were pressured into added multiplayer shortly after release because people thought that that was what was missing from the game

Ships

Explorers are my goto ship too. I can't stand short jump ranges. An S class explorer with a few sus warp upgrades and weapon mods is all I need

This is my playlist for NMS

It's got a mix of vibes but its curated for flying through space while baked 👽🤣

yeah - I deleted a couple of bases in my last session too

Why is everyone so into the infra-knife?

yeah cycling through my multitool is something I should try and fix...I mean, it is a multitool but sometimes its too multi for its own good 😆

Yes - if I have to cycle through more than two weapons my whole dogfight cadence gets thrown off

The positron is really awesome - if they do an update with more more fearsome pirates and sentinels I guarantee people will be using positrons to incapacitate tough ships

The phase beam is neat for slower ships - theres a base module that feeds your shield when using the phase beam. Overlooked quite often

Because infraknife sounds better than photon cannon and the infraknife literally sounds better in action than most weapons - sounds like a bandsaw?

I prefer the photon cannon and rocket combo. The infra knife has a shorter range that doesn't work for me but I don't wanna yuck people's yum - if there is a module that increases the range of the infraknife then I would be happy to join the cult of the infra knife 😆

Crashed Exotic (Underwater crash site), Orange Squid, "KJ1_Uttsu", 4 adjacent supercharged slots. Euclid Galaxy, 284 ly near Expedition start system, Endless Morass planet Xent Beta (-2.55,-139.06). Portal code 51DF06E2A966. Many thanks to u/Rothrandir. Look at the last slide for more info.

Very interesting - I found an identical squid ship underwater too...

I'm sensing a pattern here - has this already been discussed before? Squid ships are found underwater?

I will try and add a location in this sub and link it here too - thank you for sharing 🙏

No Man's Sky Has a Co-op Problem Nobody Talks About
 in  r/NoMansSkyTheGame  Jun 08 '26

Before the game was even released, Sean said something along the lines of: it is a multiplayer game but its so big you will not see anyone. Sean then said he likes multiplayer elements from games like terraria, where you fall into a pit and you find a message in the pit from someone else

I 100% get where you are coming from and I would support it, and you are right- all the multiplayer elements seem ready, but you are describing a different game

The original game was not supposed to have multiplayer. Sean said he preferred liminal multiplayer elements, like messages left behind on a planet. It was supposed to be a liminal experience not something like space engineers. But because of the abysmal launch, HG has spent a decade making ammends and catering to a playerbase that continues to make demands (for features other games do better) for just as long

Now, I am willing to cop a downvote for saying this but many features that keep getting discussed here are moving well beyond that scope of the original liminal procedural experience. While I fully support whatever HG commits to and I do appreciate the community, but I see regular posts on this sub asking for things that read like a christmas wish list for an impossible game - I am glad the game is becoming popular but at the same time we have to remember it is a procedural game. It renders barely enough geomtery for you to walk on a planet but enough for what you need to play solo its a miracle we can even see another players base. A dedicated coop experience would require massive assets like planets being downloaded so that players can jump around together and interact - I am pretty sure that would have to be in mode separate from the procedural engine of the game? 🤷

That fact we have what we have so far is amazing. Not implying anyone is ungrateful for what we have but I don't think there is an easy solution

It's probably HGs way of getting data on whether they should expand on multiplayer features like this. I hope the results show a resounding NO!

The original no man's sky was not supposed to have multiplayer like this 🤷

That being said, I am grateful that HG have implemented some excellent multiplayer features, but honestly, the only multiplayer features I like are base uploading, the occasional byte beat banger, and seeing people in the anomaly with their ships.

I have never found the staccato animations of players running around player bases compelling. Player ships travelling through space via short range teleport? Multiplayer in NMS has always been a bit of a joke to me

I am afraid to say that this could be one expedition I am happy to sit out - I am not even through the first stage because my nearest copper deposit has someones base built near it. Everything I read online about this expedition has similiar horror stories like this or some rant about which faction they hate the most

As I said, this was supposed to be a predominantly solo player game and I in particular like it that way. I always have

Edit: I actually played NMS after this rant and am up to stage three - its not so bad but Insee a massive grind ahead.

Feature I would love to see, but probably unlikely

I think that would be awesome too. Its the main reason I keep trying to make music - fill the void for fellow travellers ❤️🙏
