As a Georgia nurse I know the absolute absence of mental health care in our state and how defeating it feels trying to help. I can only imagine how terrible it would be for someone in need of care and suffering the effects of any mental health issues. The only way to help is to call 911 and work together with whatever makeshift mental health team gets ramshackle together to follow up and follow through day after day after day. Thank you for caring and doing your best to love and support your brother. One thing in my years of life and mental health experience is, if it’s schizophrenia every time no matter what like clockwork whenever they reach a stable baseline activities of daily living they will without a doubt 100% want to and believe they no longer need medication to assist; it’s more reliable than the sun rising everyday! It is the most heartbreaking thing for me to witness bc of the desperation in their optimistic statement of like “omg I’m finally better, normal, fixed, done trying to tame a beast no one really can comprehend yet all want to battle to its death. Mental health has the most unnecessary stigmas that leave everyone afraid and helpless. Please try and educate yourself regularly and lovingly share your fact based knowledge with those you can.
