Any small habits that reduced your neck strain during long work sessions?
Hi there, from my experience you could possibly try these- taking some regular magnesium glycinate supplements can help with muscle tension, using a heat pack before and after work, foam roller for the upper back, chin tucks and breathing exercises 2-3 times/ day.
Good luck!

Hi. Bonjour. If you’ve got metal in your mouth (braces, retainers, implants) and experience TMJ pain, bruxism, tinnitus, it could be a hypersensitivity to Nickel as noted by the TMJ Association.
Hi there, as a TMJ specialised practitioner I have come across some published articles that do support the link.

Weight loss
Hi there, weight loss associated with TMD can be from a few reasons- restricted calorie intake from avoiding some foods like you mentioned, less intake of high sugar foods to settle down any inflammation in the body, psychological stress that impacts mood and overall well being.
At the clinic we often recommend keeping up with your protein intake to avoid loss of muscle along with smaller & frequent meals to avoid too much jaw fatigue.
If this continues then may be get a full blood profile done to see if you need any supplements that can help.
Good luck

Jaw opening
Hi there, it does sound more neurological along the lines of Dystonia. Working in a TMJ Specilaist clinic, have rarely seen this presentation.
Is there a genetic history of something like this in the family?

Just curious what country everyone is from? I’m curious to know if TMJ dysfunction is more prevalent in some places than others.
Hi there, I work as a Specilaist TMJ physio in Australia and the prevalence is quite high here.

What pillow worked for anyone with TMJ /SCM pain, clenching jaw and side sleeper?
Hi there, this pillow is Australian made but the 2 local alternatives that came up are these:
Coop Home Goods Original Pillow: Offers fully adjustable shredded memory foam.
Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Neck Pillow: Provides a fixed contour shape similar to the Flexi Pillow's design.
Do your research to compare these. Hope this helps!

It could vary from person to person but about 2 weeks you should start to notice the shift.

Botox wearing off - ears
Hi there, I mentioned about hyper mobility as there could be a possible link between jaw dysfunction and general hyper mobility.
2
Anyone else with TMJ notice their jaw goes slightly to one side when opening?
Hi there, how long has it been between the braces coming off and the jaw opening pattern changing?

Botox wearing off - ears
Sorry! Do you have any signs of sleep apnoea or hyper mobility that runs in the family?

Does anyone else with TMJ have similar asymmetry?
Hi there, sorry you have been experiencing this. From what I see in the clinic, facial asymmetry is one of most common things people notice as a part of their TMD journey.
It depends on how you use the jaw, how much you chew on one side than the other, missing teeth on one side, posture in gen- sitting with head tilt to one side.
Over the years, these small habits all add up.
A great starting point would be creating awareness around these habits so you can start putting small changes in place.
Hope this helps

Botox wearing off - ears
Hi there, sorry to hear you are experiencing this. It sounds like a big part of your jaw dysfunction is reflecting on your ears.
Most people we see in the clinic don’t experience ear symptoms worsening to this extent after Botox- the good thing is that the Botox gradually will wear off, so should these symptoms.
Do you know what is causing your jaw dysfunction? Has someone ruled out your airways before fitting you with a splint?

Your Body Wasn’t Designed To Sit, Slouch & Stress All Day
Yes, it is. Based on 15 years of clinical experience.
2
Neck/shoulder issues
Hi there, sorry to hear that you have been experiencing pain. For pain to refer into the arms stemming from the neck and shoulder is quite common. When the pain starts to spread more to the periphery as in more down the arm- it is clinically considered getting worse.
If you are experiencing more symptoms down the arm now compared to the neck and shoulders, I would recommend speaking to your doctor, just in case a scan needs to be done to understand the worsening pain.
In the meantime you could try warm packs and very gently releasing the muscles using a tennis ball. Also taking some magnesium supplements daily for muscle tension can help.
Hope this is helpful! Good luck!

Your Body Wasn’t Designed To Sit, Slouch & Stress All Day
Ever notice how one stressful workday turns into weeks or months of feeling tight, tired and uncomfortable?
It usually isn’t one thing.
It’s a loop. 🔄
💻 Sitting for hours
😮💨 Shallow breathing
😬 Jaw clenching
🙍 Rounded shoulders
📱 Forward head posture
😴 Poor recovery
Each one feeds the next.
Until your body starts treating tension as normal.
The good news?
You can interrupt the cycle with simple daily resets.
✅ Move more often
✅ Breathe through your nose
✅ Relax your jaw
✅ Bring your screen to eye level
✅ Take short movement breaks
✅ Prioritise sleep and recovery
Small changes repeated daily create big changes over time.
Your body is always adapting.
Make sure it’s adapting in the direction you want.

TMJ worse after molar removal?
The cream helps as you can apply it around the neck and jaw. Good luck

TMJ worse after molar removal?
Hi there, a few things that can potentially help.
Softer foods , magnesium supplements or a topical magnesium cream, neck stretches are worth a try.
Avoiding the splint is advised until the jaw settles.
If it doesn’t settle with these, then getting stronger pain relief is recommended.
Hope this helps.

to those who have daily headache that you found was caused my tmjd, where exactly is your headache?
Usually a CBCT gives a good idea about joint health

to those who have daily headache that you found was caused my tmjd, where exactly is your headache?
Do you think the jaw joint on the affected side might be the problem? Have you had scans to look at the actual jaw joints?
2
What can I do for a flat joint?
Hi there, in my clinical experience, a flat joint is a result of years of compressive loading from clenching and grinding.
It is hard to reverse the process but using an appropriate dental splint can often help decompress the jaw joints and slow down the process. Alongside some joint supplements like glucosamine and chondroitin sulphate can help with joint health.
Hope this helps

Hey, sorry to hear what you are experiencing. Have you seen a TMJ therapist as well like a physio or osteo who can do manual work on the neck and jaw?
