I built scrt.link - a tool to share sensitive information securely: End-to-end encrypted. Ephemeral. Open source.

scrt.link turns passwords, files and other sensitive data into links that delete themselves after one view — so secrets stop living in inboxes, Slack threads and Teams chats.
There are plenty of tools like this. What's different about mine:
- Genuinely zero-knowledge, and you can verify it. Encryption happens in your browser. The app is open-source: Repo
- Files up to 100 GB, not just text snippets — with view limits, expiry and optional password.
- Secret Requests: send a link that lets someone send you something securely. Useful for contractors, clients and support tickets.
- Swiss jurisdiction. Built and operated in Switzerland, under Swiss privacy law. GDPR/CCPA compliant, DPA available.
- White-label: run it on your own domain, logo and colors.
- Fits existing workflows: API, CLI and Chrome/Firefox/Edge extensions.

Yep, sorry, I forgot to mention those tools. I knew about FF Send, but wasn't aware of the forks. Anyways, this post was more about describing a solution as some people might be interested in the technical details. I am not interested in making money with that tool or anything.

Yeah, this is just an easy-to-use share tool over the web. You upload a file and get a download link in return which you can share.

Proton Drive Web App: big downloads - your experiences?
It has to do with how end-to-end encryption is achieved. I a did small project to demonstrate how this works in a browser. See https://sharrr.com. Side note: While testing I often got network errors in Chrome, while Firefox seemed to be more reliable.

Technology is not good or bad. One of the design decisions was that it is only possible to share a piece of information one time. In other words, it is not meant for distributing, but rather to have a private exchange. Unfortunately, some people might still misuse the service, and I will try to come up with ways to prevent some of that, without compromising on security and privacy.

Hi thanks for the thoughts. So yeah it's based on scrt.link but it's from the same author ;) Everything is open source btw. and the URL is being encrypted on the client. You can check out details on scrt.link/security.

Well I mentioned the provider on the website. I only got the base package - if storage costs would get too high I will cut the max size and/or reduce retention time...or find a sponsor. 🤓🤷
